"Grumble..." Li Xiaonan leaned against Ling Kui, his stomach audibly protesting.
After losing his cultivation, he was just an ordinary person, unable to absorb the Spiritual Energy from the world, and naturally needed external sustenance.
"Xiao Nan, you must be hungry. Let's find an inn to get something to eat first, then we'll figure out how to return to the Cultivation realm," Ling Kui said, tightening his embrace around Li Xiaonan.
Li Xiaonan nodded slightly, but as they stepped out of the dungeon, they were instantly taken aback.
A blood moon hung high in the sky, and demons shrieked as they flew about.
"Damn it! I knew Fei Ji wasn't that easy! How could a woman like her let us go so easily? I was foolish enough to thank her; I must be out of my mind!" Li Xiaonan exclaimed angrily.
They were in the infamous Red House of the demon clan, a place where the demons bred their next generation—the Demon Lair.
A newly emerged Six-Winged Demon spotted Li Xiaonan and Ling Kui below and swooped down towards them.
"Xiao Nan, don't worry; I'll protect you!" Ling Kui said coldly. With a flick of his whip, he ensnared the approaching demon. With a slight pull, there was a loud "crack," and the Six-Winged Demon exploded into a cloud of blood mist in mid-air.
The thick stench of blood erupted into the air, permeating everywhere around them.
Li Xiaonan furrowed his brows and urged urgently, "This is bad! Ling Kui, we need to get out of here!" Just as he finished speaking, he noticed a dark mass approaching from afar—it was all demons.
"Roar!" Ling Kui transformed into a Azure Dragon and soared into the sky with Li Xiaonan on his back.
Li Xiaonan hugged the two Dragon Scales under the dragon's neck, grinning foolishly as he exclaimed, "Awesome! Thirty-two likes! My wife is a dragon!"
As a traditional Chinese man, Li Xiaonan not only encountered the legendary dragon but also made her his bride, which left him exhilarated.
Ling Kui glanced sideways and said calmly, "Hold on to me! We are leaving here!"
With a swift flick of her azure tail, she knocked away an Eight-Winged Demon Lord that was attempting to ambush them and darted forward.
High in the sky, the cold wind howled, and the deep valley they had left behind was now far away, replaced by endless yellow sand. Under the glow of the Red Moonlight, it shimmered with an eerie brown hue, reminiscent of congealed blood.
The demons did not continue to pursue Li Xiaonan and Ling Kui; instead, they silently returned to the Demon Lair.
Li Xiaonan lay on Ling Kui's back, his eyelids feeling heavy as if filled with lead. His black eyes involuntarily rolled upward, displaying a look of dazedness.
His consciousness began to blur, and waves of dizziness washed over him. As he loosened his grip on the Dragon Scales, he tumbled off Ling Kui's back.
Startled, Ling Kui transformed back into her human form and bent down to catch Li Xiaonan. Suddenly, a Fifteen-Winged Demon appeared before her.
"Indeed beautiful! The master will surely like you!" The demon sneered as silver threads shot out from its fingers, binding Ling Kui tightly.
Her expression turned icy as she demanded, "Who are you?"
"Me? Hehehe! I am a subordinate of Zhong Di! Come with me, pretty girl!"
Ling Kui furrowed her brow, casting a worried glance at the vast expanse of yellow sand below. She felt relieved that Li Xiaonan had fallen early; at least there was a glimmer of hope. If he had been caught by the Demon, things could have turned dire.
"Tsk tsk, quite obedient, aren't you? I thought women in the Cultivation world were all chaste and quick to self-destruct," the Demon remarked, pulling Ling Kui closer.
Ling Kui shot a cold look at the Demon. "I can't defeat you, so what’s the point in struggling? As for self-destruction, it's not necessary at this moment."
"Oh! A real ice queen!" Fifteen Wings moved swiftly, and suddenly, Ling Kui vanished into thin air with him.
Meanwhile, Li Xiaonan had plunged headfirst into the sand. Fortunately, he was lucky enough not to end up with his neck broken from landing head down. He lay on the ground, calmly flipping over and falling into a deep sleep.
"Xiao Nan, come eat some chicken legs."
"Xiao Nan, I have roasted duck here!"
"Xiao Nan, come over here for a whole roasted lamb!"
How delightful!
Li Xiaonan drooled as he circled among the girls. However, they were being quite unfair; just as he was about to take a bite, they shifted their bodies and moved the food away. Li Xiaonan shouted, "I want to eat meat!"
He suddenly sat up from the sandy ground, only to find himself surrounded by desolation. Forget about roasted lamb; there wasn't even a single hair in sight.
Dazed, he lay back down and glanced up at the blood-red sun overhead. His sluggish brain finally began to function again. He sat up abruptly once more, feeling dizzy and unsure whether it was from hunger or cold. But at that moment, he didn't care about any of that. He swayed slightly as he stood up and looked around. Where was Ling Kui?
Two hands cupped into a trumpet shape, shouting, "Ling'er! Ling'er!"
From a distance, something seemed to be flying over. Li Xiaonan chuckled foolishly, "It must be Ling'er bringing back a big drumstick! Huh? Why does Ling'er have wings now? Damn! A Demon with Two Wings!"
As soon as Li Xiaonan realized something was wrong, he turned and ran, his face filled with despair as he muttered to himself: What a useless fool! Just two wings; it used to be like slicing vegetables, and now I can't even face it before running away!
"Ouch!"
It turned out that when a person is carrying something on their back, even drinking water can get stuck in their teeth, and running can lead to tripping over themselves.
Li Xiaonan ended up face-first in the sand, taking a bite of it.
"Spit, spit, spit! Damn it! Didn't get the chicken leg but ended up tasting sand! Spit, spit, spit!" Li Xiaonan lay on the ground, spitting out sand, unaware that the Demon with Two Wings had already appeared behind him.
Huh? A shadow? Li Xiaonan mechanically turned his head. "Damn!" He rolled just in time to narrowly avoid the Little Demon's grasp.
"Hey, quick reflexes! You look quite tasty; I suggest you stop struggling! Hehe!" The demon lunged for Li Xiaonan's thigh.
He spread his legs wide, and the sharp claws just barely missed his most sensitive area.
Cold sweat broke out on Li Xiaonan's forehead. Good grief! That was close; my lower half would have been ruined…
"Hehe! Still thinking of running?" the demon sneered.
With a swift grab, a cloud of dust was kicked up as the claw lunged toward Li Xiaonan's heart.
Li Xiaonan's mouth fell open as he murmured, "I'm done for..."
"Ah!"
"Thud!"
The first scream came from Li Xiaonan, as the sharp claw tore through his skin and sank into his shoulder.
The second sound was emitted by the Two-Winged Imp, revealing a slender hand protruding from its chest, with long fingers adorned with elongated nails, resembling those of a woman.
Li Xiaonan frowned slightly, pulling the hand out of his shoulder and clutching the bleeding wound as he rolled to the side, finally catching a glimpse of his savior's true form.
A pitch-black ghostly mask obscured the face, revealing two silver eyes characteristic of demons. The demon stood at about five feet seven inches tall, draped in a wide cloak that billowed in the wind, accentuating a curvaceous figure. Eight wings unfurled slightly behind her as she stood coldly in place.
Li Xiaonan was taken aback. Inner Thoughts: Fei Ji?
Seriously? You think I wouldn't recognize you just because you're wearing a mask and have fewer wings? With that height and those proportions, it's obvious! How can demons be so dim-witted...
But why would she save me? Wasn't she the one who wanted me to suffer endlessly? Has her head been caught in a door?
I want to see what kind of trick she's playing!
Li Xiaonan had made up his mind to test Fei Ji. He covered his wound and staggered to his feet, but his body swayed and he fell back down.
Fei Ji moved swiftly, wrapping an arm around Li Xiaonan and softly asking, "Are you... are you okay?"
Li Xiaonan slightly opened his eyes, his lips moving faintly as he tilted his head, pretending to be gravely injured before fainting.
Fei Ji sighed and instinctively touched her mask, thinking to herself: Thankfully I have this mask; otherwise, he would definitely see me blush...
I’ve concealed my appearance and hidden my cultivation level. He... he shouldn’t recognize me, right? But why do I feel a hint of anticipation in my heart?
Fei Ji looked at Li Xiaonan's furrowed brow and the blood flowing from his wound. She lifted him into her arms and flew in a certain direction.
With her cultivation level, she could have used spatial movement, but she worried that Li Xiaonan's body wouldn’t withstand it, so she could only fly.
Li Xiaonan kept his eyes closed. Without any cultivation, he couldn’t extend his consciousness; he could only rely on his five senses to feel what Fei Ji was doing.
A faint fragrance wafted into his nostrils, accompanied by the sensation of two soft objects pressing against his forehead—warm and hot. The body temperature of the demon race seemed to be higher than that of humans; this feeling was probably around forty degrees Celsius.
Fei Ji carried Li Xiaonan into a cave and carefully laid him down on the ground.
The icy touch against his back made Li Xiaonan shiver involuntarily, reminiscent of a cold winter morning when someone yanked the blanket away.
Fei Ji glanced at the trembling Li Xiaonan and conjured a ball of fiery red light that floated at the cave's ceiling, radiating a gentle warmth.
She carefully unbuttoned Li Xiaonan's shirt, watching as his slightly defined chest rose and fell. She felt her face growing hotter.
Shaking her head, she scolded herself, What am I thinking? But his skin is really so fair...
As she thought this, her slender fingers wandered over Li Xiaonan's pale skin, intentionally or not brushing against the two crimson points on his chest.
Li Xiaonan, lying there like a corpse, was going crazy. He simply couldn't understand what had gotten into Fei Ji to provoke him like this, and he found himself responding, his breathing becoming increasingly rapid.
"Oh no! What am I doing!" Fei Ji muttered to herself as she quickly withdrew her hand and retrieved some healing ointment and bandages from her storage space, carefully tending to Li Xiaonan's wounds.
The sharp pain radiating from his shoulder only confirmed Li Xiaonan's suspicion that Fei Ji was deliberately messing with him; it hurt more than having an entire bottle of alcohol poured over the wound!
Since he was lying there helplessly, he could only endure the pain while Fei Ji worked on him.
Li Xiaonan had to admit he was wrong about Fei Ji; she was indeed pouring alcohol onto his wound. Although the demon's nails weren't poisonous, they were teeming with bacteria. Any wound caused by nails could easily become infected if not properly cleaned, and healing would be difficult.
When Fei Ji sprinkled the healing ointment on his wound and wrapped it with bandages, Li Xiaonan's shirt was completely soaked through with sweat from the pain.
He wished he could just faint from the agony, but clearly, his willpower was extraordinary; no matter how much Fei Ji fussed over him, he just couldn't pass out.
Fei Ji stared at him in a daze. The glistening beads of sweat made his skin appear even paler. She furrowed her brow and pressed her lips together, her breath faint. Seeing him in such a weakened state made her feel as if something heavy was pressing down on her chest.
