The palace maids were gossiping about me, even starting to mock me.
"With that seductive look, she must be the reincarnation of a fox spirit, here to harm the Emperor and the Crown Prince."
"Exactly, and she's the daughter of the Prime Minister, yet has no virtue at all."
"Pah! A daughter of the Prime Minister? She's just a disaster."
"She deserves it; let her die..."
The General of the Northern Defense secretly found me.
Seeing me in disarray, with my clothes torn, hair messy, and bruises on my face, he felt a deep pang of sorrow. He embraced me tightly. " Yu'er, you’ve suffered so much. I’ll take you away; we’ll leave the palace."
I shook my head through tears. "No, I can't leave."
If I left, both the General's residence and the Prime Minister's Residence would be implicated. I couldn't let innocent people suffer because of my own escape.
"But at home... they’ve arranged a marriage for me. If I don’t leave, I’ll have to get married," the General said, his brow furrowing as his voice turned hoarse.
I shook my head again. "You should go!"
He paused for a moment before slowly stepping further away from me.
I knew that we could never be together again. Soon after, my belly began to grow larger, and it dawned on me that I was pregnant. I endured the humiliation, hoping to safely give birth to the child.
Months later, I gave birth to a daughter. Looking at my frail little girl in my arms filled me with mixed emotions. She was small and weak because she had endured so much suffering while in my womb.
But my daughter did not cry or fuss; she simply slept soundly in my arms. I looked at her, a smile spreading across my face. I gently stroked her cheek, feeling warmth in my heart. This was my child, the person I held dearest in this world.
Yet soon, fear crept back into me. My daughter was so small; could I truly protect her? I gazed at her and silently vowed, "Child, you must be strong. You must grow up safe and sound."
But before long, Jiang Yao arrived with others to take my daughter away.
"The Emperor wants the princess for treatment; quickly hand her over!"
I fell to my knees, pleading desperately, "Please, don’t take my child. I will do anything you ask. I can leave with my daughter and never show my face to you again…"
Jiang Yao glared at me fiercely. "Who said anything about you leaving? You deserve to die!"
With that, Jiang Yao kicked me aside and coldly addressed the Palace Maids, "What are you standing around for? Hurry and take the princess!"
I was horrified and rushed forward to stop them. But those Palace Maids were too strong for me; they pushed me away and took my daughter, tearing out her heart.
My daughter had just turned one month old when her heart was ripped out and left on the ground.
"Don't—"
I screamed in despair, stumbling over to her side, trembling as I cradled her in my arms. Her body was growing colder, a large hole in her chest gushing blood.
I pressed my hand against the wound, trying to stop the bleeding. But no matter how hard I pressed, her blood continued to flow out uncontrollably.
"Child, Child, my Child…"
I cried out desperately, hoping she would open her eyes and look at me. But she had already closed her eyes, leaving me forever.
I looked up in despair at Jiang Yao. "Sister Yao, please, I beg you, save my daughter, save her..."
Jiang Yao merely gazed at me coldly and disdainfully replied, "A wretched child like her deserves to die. It is an honor for her to have her heart taken to cure the Crown Prince."
