For the entire day that followed, Xiar assisted others in the laboratory, helping to handle related materials.
The subject of the experiment was a Radiation Creature.
With the opening of the Source Gate, a massive amount of Source Power began to overflow, causing many organisms to be exposed to Source Power radiation, resulting in Evolution or mutation.
In Atlan, there was also a branch of the True God Cult, two of which had already been destroyed, while most remained hidden.
The Radiation Creatures found were sent to the academy and delivered to various related laboratories for dissection and research, in order to understand the subsequent changes.
However, the existence of Radiation Creatures was quite peculiar; some resembled the demons and monsters from mythology and were vastly different from Totem Beasts.
"Junior, I didn't expect you to come from Harrison. I've heard it's quite poor and backward there; it must be difficult for you to gather resources," several young students approached him curiously during a break.
"Indeed, it's far behind compared to here, which is why my Main Totem has been unable to evolve," Xiar shrugged helplessly.
He understood that in their eyes, he seemed like a bumpkin from the countryside; not mocking him directly was already a sign of their restraint.
Soon after, he found himself bombarded with questions as they expressed a keen interest in the ancient empire across the ocean.
Noble marriages, customs of living... they even didn’t spare details about daily life!
As a result, Xiar quickly integrated into their group and was affectionately referred to as "Brother Xiar," treated like a younger sibling.
"Xiar, you possess Master Level Totem Drawing skills; first, draw the Inheritance Factor of this creature," Gafiel instructed.
The others were taken aback; they hadn't expected this seemingly quiet junior to possess such unexpected abilities.
Because they were all only at the proficient level, they had been at the academy for several years without any improvement.
"Alright." Xiar nodded and walked over to the cultivation tank located in the center of the laboratory.
Inside lay a strange creature, humanoid in appearance but with four arms, standing five meters tall, covered in a layer of fine gray scales.
Xiar looked down at it, and two Source Crystals provided by the laboratory turned into powder. The energy flowed around them, forming a massive grayish-white cocoon.
Moments later, mysterious spirals emerged from the cocoon, intertwining and swirling in the air to create dazzling, enigmatic patterns.
Then he grasped a pen with both hands and began to draw rapidly on parchment, creating a series of diagrams that included comprehensive concept maps of all Inheritance Factors, as well as interpretations of various parts and the deepest core direction of Evolution.
The ability of Totem Drawing represented his understanding of Inheritance Factors, indicating his mastery level over them.
Master Level ability meant he could thoroughly deconstruct and study them; if any part was damaged, he could infer from other locations to repair it.
The others nearby were somewhat stunned, realizing that he truly possessed Master Level ability and was not merely someone who had relied on connections to get in.
"Alright, let's first construct an Auxiliary Totem to study its specific living habits and other information," Gafiel continued issuing commands.
The group immediately became busy, placing Xiar's Blueprint into a machine for scanning and construction.
One Source Crystal after another turned into powder, quickly forming a pile that made Xiar's eyes twitch.
It was evident that constructing a totem at the Rune Factory required a significant amount of Source Crystals. Leslie had provided him with one machine, but given his current status, he couldn't afford it at all.
He had asked Lyle and learned that students could purchase Source Crystals using their student ID at the academy, with each standard unit costing ten thousand.
In just a short while, dozens of Source Crystals had already been consumed, equivalent to more than half of his net worth.
Of course, this was mainly due to the enormous size of this creature and its unique nature as a Radiation Creature, which caused such high consumption.
If it had been an ordinary Totem Beast, it wouldn't have even used a third of that amount, but it would still have been enough to give him a headache.
By evening, Xiar hurriedly finished his meal and made his way to the basement—the Rune Factory was ready!
It was placed in the basement because the Rune Factory required complete silence during operation; it couldn't be disturbed by external sounds or wind, or it could easily malfunction.
Since the beginning of his journey, Xiar had wanted to own a Rune Factory of his own, freeing himself from the control of others.
Now, an expensive machine worth over a hundred million was right in front of him.
The Rune Factory measured five meters long, one meter wide, and eighteen meters high, taking the form of an irregular rectangular prism.
It was adorned with glass tubes and countless intricate circuits; some areas even resembled circuit boards from his previous life, densely packed with numerous patterns.
Xiar took a deep breath, inserted a Blueprint into the machine, and placed a Source Crystal into the Energy Slot.
With a soft crackling sound as the Source Crystal shattered, the tubes lit up one by one, spreading light across the entire machine.
Next, the machine began to operate silently while Xiar constructed a complete Inheritance Blueprint alongside it, importing corresponding elements from the Blueprint into his design.
After more than an hour had passed, the totem construction was finally complete.
Xiar rubbed his sore eyes and cautiously reached out to take a spherical crystal.
The sphere was about the size of a thumb, completely transparent, with a purple butterfly at its center, resembling amber.
The Purple-Winged Butterfly had once been Bruce's totem, which was why he had chosen it without hesitation when selecting a test subject.
This sphere was the Totem Sphere; once he completed the upcoming Spirit Awakening, it would become his Auxiliary Totem.
Of course, Xiar had many better options and would not waste one of his limited three Auxiliary Totem slots on the mere Purple-Winged Butterfly.
He simply wanted to thoroughly master the uses of Rune Factory so that he could eventually transform Firefly into a true Totem Beast.
Before that, he needed—money!
Firefly belonged to the Half Totem category, with an energy level higher than that of ordinary Radiation Creatures. To fully totemize it would require a number of Source Crystals that was definitely several times, if not dozens of times, greater than that needed for those Radiation Creatures!
The next morning, Xiar went directly to Lyle and asked about ways to make money.
Lyle did not hold back and told him about various options, recommending that he work at shops selling Totem Spheres. After all, having Master Level Totem Drawing skills would be a waste if not utilized.
"Are there any other ways?" Xiar continued.
Lyle smiled and said, "There’s another option: joining the Academy Enforcement Team. You can earn money by tracking down criminal Students or capturing escaped Totem Beasts from the laboratory!"
