I opened the door and peeked out, just in time to see two people exchanging a few words. One of them walked towards the left side of the alley, took a few steps, and turned back to signal to the other person behind him, who was carrying a girl and was about to follow. 0

The alley was dimly lit, with only a few lights installed on the walls opposite the back doors of the bars, meant for patrons to dispose of their trash at night. The distance between each back door was considerable, so I could only vaguely make out their figures without seeing them clearly. 0

I took a couple of steps forward and whispered, "What are you doing?" 0

The person in front suddenly stopped, slowly turning around to look at me. In the faint light, I could see that he had a long face and was much taller than me—probably around six feet tall. He blocked the view of the person behind him, so I couldn't see who it was. 0

"Who are you?!" the man with the horse-like face asked. This was the same guy who had just told me to get lost; no wonder he was called Horse Face. 0

"Let her go." 0

"Who do you think you are?! Mind your own business!" Horse Face shouted. 0

"I saw what you were doing just now. If you know what's good for you, let her go quickly, or I'll call the police." 0

Upon hearing that I would call the police, Horse Face hesitated for a moment and turned his head as if to gauge the other person's reaction. 0

A cold voice came from behind him, "If you don't leave, you'll regret it!" 0

"Hey!" Horse Face replied and handed the girl over to the person behind him. He turned back with a sneer and said, "Well then, you can run now. This is your last chance—get back to the bar!" He pulled something out of his pocket and pressed a button; with a click, a knife sprang open. 0

I knew that running back to the bar to find Huang would be the smartest choice. But if I left, these two might really abduct her. Even if someone managed to catch them later, I had no idea whether they were after money or something else. The longer this dragged on, the worse it would be for the girl. 0

After thinking it over, I still didn't move. 0

Horse Face looked somewhat surprised. "You've got guts!" He charged at me, swinging his knife toward my left chest. 0

I had anticipated that it wouldn't be so simple to intimidate someone with just a few words. As I stepped out, I had already scanned my surroundings for anything useful. My left hand was holding a long mop, which I had been eyeing earlier. 0

At this moment, I took a step back, gripped the mop with my left hand, and aimed it at the Horse-Faced Man. With a swift motion of my right hand, I struck his right hand with the mop. His aim was immediately thrown off, and I stepped back again, ready to confront him with the mop. 0

"Hey, you've got some skill!" the Horse-Faced Man said as he sidestepped to the right and charged at me, his knife raised high. He underestimated the mop's lack of lethality, thinking he could take a hit and close the distance to stab me. 0

Of course, I wasn't going to stand still and trade blows with him; hitting him wouldn’t cost him anything. I held the mop in the middle as a pivot and suddenly exerted force. The mop swung up and struck the Horse-Faced Man on the head. He let out a yell as he reached for the mop with his left hand. 0

Without hesitation, I yanked it back and simultaneously retreated several steps. 0

The mop head was still damp from whatever it had been used for, adding some weight to it. It thudded against the left side of the Horse-Faced Man's head, causing him pain and splattering him with grime. 0

Furious now, he shouted, "I won't let you off this time!" and charged at me again. 0

I flicked my wrist again; the mop head shot forward like a snake's head aimed at his face. Startled, he raised his hands to block it. Suddenly, I changed direction with force, thrusting the mop head toward his chest. There was another dull thud as he howled in pain! 0

As the Horse-Faced Man charged at me again in anger, I retreated once more. A voice echoed behind me: "Horse! Make it quick; he's stalling for time!" 0

I was taken aback; I was indeed stalling for time. The mop couldn't kill anyone anyway; this wasn't a competition. Right now, I had the initiative—if they left, I'd follow them; if they stayed to silence me, all I needed to do was keep them occupied until Huang realized what was happening and came back with Old Bi. At that point, things would change dramatically. 0

The Horse-Faced Man seemed startled too. "Got it, Five Master!" he shouted before charging at me with his knife raised high. I felt a surge of panic and jabbed at his face again since that was the only exposed part of him where my attacks could be effective. 0

However, the Horse-Faced Man was clearly clever; he protected his face with his left hand while slowly inching closer to me. He seemed to be waiting for me to attack his head so he could grab the mop and stab me with his right hand. 0

I kept my wits about me and stepped back a few paces, knocking over trash bags on either side of the alleyway so that beer bottles rolled onto the ground. 0

The Horse-Faced Man approached slowly with his hands guarding his face. Suddenly, I lunged forward again with the mop aimed at his face but deliberately slowed down this time. After getting jabbed in the left hand by the mop, he reacted quickly and seized it tightly while stepping forward aggressively with his knife poised to strike down at me. 0

I exerted all my strength and suddenly yanked back. As the Horse-Faced Man took a large step forward, I pulled him from above while the garbage bag tripped him from below. With a yelp, he fell over, landing face-first on the ground. I swiftly pulled out the mop and sidestepped forward, stepping with my left foot while delivering a powerful kick to the Horse-Faced Man's right hand. I heard a loud crack as his knife flew away. 0

Without the knife, the Horse-Faced Man posed no threat. I grabbed a nearby beer bottle and smashed it against the back of his head. The back of the human skull is particularly vulnerable, and with a cry, he collapsed to the ground, motionless. 0

I knew how hard I had struck; he must have been knocked out. However, about ten meters away, another person seemed unsettled upon seeing me take down the Horse-Faced Man. He released the girl he had been supporting, letting her fall to the ground, and approached me empty-handed. 0

I was quite curious. Facing Whitened with empty hands, even if I wasn't as skilled as him, he shouldn't be able to take me down easily, right? At this point, Huang should have sensed something was off! It was clear that I was in trouble; who takes so long just to relieve themselves? 0

I stood the mop upright with my left hand, stepped on its head with my left foot, and used both hands to forcefully remove the mop head. The mop transformed into a wooden stick. Although it was a bit short and not very comfortable to wield, it would suffice. Even better, there was still a nail at the top where the mop head had been fixed. 0

I raised the stick, pointing it at the approaching figure. I focused intently on this person known as Five Master. His steps quickened gradually until he was sprinting towards me like a hundred-meter dash. For some reason, I felt an immense threat from him; perhaps it was instinct that made me stay on high alert. 0

Only a meter away! Five Master suddenly drew a thin black object from behind him—about thirty to forty centimeters long; it looked like a short blade. 0

Less than a meter now! Five Master lunged forward, using his body’s momentum to thrust the knife towards my left chest. 0

I moved too; I pushed hard to my left and aimed to strike Five Master's right arm. If he wanted to stab me, I had to hit his arm first. 0

But I immediately regretted it. First, what Five Master held was not an ordinary knife; I could almost hear its slicing sound cutting through the air. My face changed; this was no ordinary strength or speed. Second, I had forgotten that I was wielding a wooden stick made from a mop—no matter how much power I exerted, it wouldn’t cause significant harm. If it were my Refined Steel Rod instead, that strike would have surely broken bones! 0

There’s no remedy for regret in this world; at this moment, dodging was too late. In an instant, my wooden stick struck Five Master's upper right arm. He let out a muffled grunt and hesitated for just a moment but continued his thrust forward regardless. At least my blow had created some space; I felt a chill on my left side followed by a sharp pain—I had been grazed! 0

I gritted my teeth; damn it, he was quite ruthless. 0

After missing his first strike, Five Master wasted no time retracting his weapon and sweeping his left leg horizontally towards me. I had no choice but to take a large step back to evade it. 0

With one kick missed, Five Master shifted his left leg to the right and spun around completely before suddenly thrusting that object towards my right chest from behind him. At that moment, inertia played its role; after accelerating through his spin, I once again heard the sharp sound of his weapon slicing through the air. 0

At that moment, using the stick to defend was no longer an option, so I had to step back several paces. 0

As soon as I missed my chance, the Five Master immediately closed in, without any fancy moves. With a twist of his hand, the sharp blade lunged at me again! 0

I was taken aback; he was truly fighting for his life! Was it really necessary?! After my initial shock, anger began to rise within me. 0

Continuously dodging wasn't a solution. If I kept being passive like this, I would eventually get hit. Although I didn't know what kind of weapon he wielded, it felt extremely dangerous, and I had to break free from this passive stance. 0

Thinking this way, I involuntarily took two more steps back. In a moment of desperation, I noticed a trash can to my left. As I retreated, I grabbed the handle of the lid with my left hand and lifted it up to shield myself. This thin metal lid should be able to block some attacks, right? 0

I tightened my grip on the stick with my right hand and stepped back again. I was being too passive; it was time to counterattack! 0

Just as I thought this, he lunged forward again with a direct stab. Good! This was what I had been waiting for! With only one hand on the stick, I didn't have enough strength to deflect him, so I let him stab forward. I pushed the trash can lid out in front of me to block his attack. Just as the blade was about to hit the lid, I thrust my stick forward as well—after all, there was a nail on top! 0

I heard a loud "thud!" and felt a chill in my left shoulder, followed by a wave of intense pain! 0

(To be continued; stay tuned for more excitement tomorrow!) 0
