Chapter 131: Soul Guiding (Part Four) 0

Although the television festival was only happening tomorrow night, many people started coming to find me after dinner. Among my three Squad Leaders, only one made it into the top 40, while the other two timidly expressed their desire to go to the Company Headquarters. 0

I wasn't angry; instead, I smiled and said, "Oh, both of you Squad Leaders want to go? Did you not think about how you didn't even make it into the top 40 while running? Isn't that embarrassing? What will your squad leaders think? How will those soldiers view you? And you actually want to attend the arts festival? Who's going to be on duty at the Unit? Should we let the first-place Squad Leader from A Squad take over?" 0

One of them nodded foolishly, which made me even more frustrated. "Then let him be the Squad Leader and take your share of the money, alright?" 0

The other one shook his head vigorously. I snapped, "Aren't you leaving yet?" The two of them jumped up in a panic and rushed out, colliding with Old Tang as he walked in. 0

Old Tang frowned and turned to me. "Lao Wang, you're playing this quite well. Now many people are coming to me for backdoor favors. What should I do?" 0

I chuckled. "Old Tang, you'll support my work, right?!" 0

With a helpless smile, Old Tang replied, "Well, forgive me for selling you out. I've been instructed to hold you fully responsible. I can't interfere; I can only provide logistical support." 0

I grimaced. "Old Tang, what if something goes wrong? I'll be the one bearing the brunt of it!" 0

Old Tang laughed heartily and turned to enter his room. 0

That night was indeed lively. The new recruits were fine, but many squad leaders and veterans came looking for me, all of whom I managed to fend off one by one. I believe that as long as things are open and fair, no one will feel dissatisfied! The biggest issue for our people is not poverty but inequality! 0

Time flew by quickly, and before I knew it, it was time to head out in the evening. After dinner, I had forty soldiers change into their uniforms and put on their hats. After gathering them together and reiterating my requests, I led them out the door towards the Broadcast Center. 0

It was just past six o'clock when we arrived; the television station was already brightly lit with many people coming in and out, appearing quite busy. As usual, various vehicles were constantly arriving at the entrance. Under everyone's curious gaze, I led the soldiers toward the main gate. 0

The armed police stationed there must have received prior notice because before we even reached the entrance, they had already activated the electronic door for us. After returning their salute, I led everyone into the main building. Once inside, many soldiers who had previously been quiet became lively, looking around and whispering among themselves. 0

Not wanting to mix with local personnel in an elevator and avoid unnecessary trouble, I took control of one elevator at the back and began sending soldiers upstairs in batches. I took one group; Xuanhua took another; Sheng Xiong held down the elevator for the last batch. 0

After quite some time, we finally gathered all the warriors at the Performance Center. Upon entering the Performance Hall, the lights were bright, and the stage was fully set up. The Stage Design looked particularly grand, with many staff members bustling about and dozens of cameras being positioned. Just like our last visit, the warriors were thrilled at the sight, and I didn’t bother to stop them; after all, it was a rare opportunity to be here in person. 0

I asked the warriors to wait in place while I made my way to the center of the stage, searching for Meng Dao. After looking for a while without success, I was puzzled when suddenly someone shouted, “Troop Brother, over here!” 0

Oh, that was definitely Meng Dao’s voice! I followed the sound and found him behind the stage backdrop. I quickly walked over and climbed a few steps to reach the highest point of the stage. It was then that I noticed that the previously white backdrops had been covered with background paper. There were multiple backdrops shaped like triangular prisms, each side forming part of a larger background image. 0

Sure enough, after a brief exchange with the director, he explained to me how to flip the backdrops and in what order. It turned out that the art festival had three themes, and we would switch backdrops during each theme change. When it was time for a transition, the lights would dim, leaving only a spotlight on the host in the Venue. Our task was simply to flip the boards quickly and accurately. 0

It seemed relatively straightforward. I told the director to wait a moment while we got into position to test it out and see how it looked. After going down, I selected ten obedient Honest warriors from among forty because I knew that staying up there for a while required some patience. 0

I addressed these ten warriors: “Your mission is to guard these boards here for an entire evening. Before the show starts, keep the edges facing forward so that the audience cannot see the background. Once the show begins and the music starts playing, you will all flip over the first board clockwise together; this will create the first backdrop for the art festival gala. When it’s time for a theme switch, all lights will go out, and you must quickly push out the second board before the lights come back on to form the second backdrop. Is that clear?” 0

The warriors nodded in agreement; it seemed simple enough that there wouldn’t be any issues. I then asked the director if anyone would be there to remind us during theme changes. He assured me that there would be Stage Design interns nearby to provide reminders. That settled it; I had confidence in my warriors. 0

After arranging everyone in their positions, I thought for a moment and told them that since the lights would go out, their speeds could vary as long as they flipped quickly and lined up properly! We should try it a few times. 0

Standing below with the director, we signaled them to begin. Fortunately, the warriors executed their tasks well; they pushed out three panels together in different colors, which looked quite beautiful. This television station really spared no expense; it's no wonder they ranked among the top in entertainment nationwide. 0

The director seemed pleased, so I asked about another group of warriors. The director mentioned that those ten would be divided into groups to help move camera positions. I realized then that what I had seen on television—cameras zooming in and out—was actually achieved by moving them around. 0

Following Meng Dao's instructions, I grouped everyone accordingly and gave them their tasks. With nothing else to do, I started wandering around to supervise how everyone was working. I left overseeing Backdrop duties to Squad Leader while I roamed around under the Stage; since this was a rare opportunity to be on-site, my curiosity got the better of me. 0

As time passed, more people entered the Performance Hall—both men and women—most of whom were beautiful girls dressed in colorful outfits that dazzled my eyes. I asked a nearby Stage Manager, “Where did this television station find so many pretty girls?” 0

The Stage Manager scoffed at my question: “You wouldn’t understand; there are plenty at City Dance School of Arts. They’re here as backup dancers for the art festival and won’t even charge for their services—they’re eager to participate!” 0

Wow, that's truly crazy! Standing by the edge of the stage watching these lovely ladies pass by on their way to backstage dressing rooms made me feel quite envious: working at a television station must be wonderful! 0

As more people arrived, the atmosphere grew increasingly lively—like a bustling market! I thought to myself how challenging it must be to put together such a gala! 0

The director, Big Beard, stood in the center of the stage surrounded by a group of people, seemingly discussing their positions. I casually found a seat in the stands. Since it was just a rehearsal for positioning, there probably wouldn’t be any performances to watch, but at least I could enjoy the view of some beautiful women! Haha, this work trip turned out to be quite enjoyable! 0

After a while, music began to play, signaling that things were about to start. People began to sit down around me; they were likely here to help out as well. I noticed a few staff members with walkie-talkies discussing something. Just as I was curious about what was happening, I was suddenly drawn to an argument nearby. 0

“Brother Li, didn’t you promise me a close-up shot? Why am I only a backup dancer?” 0

“Hey, this year it really can’t be arranged. The higher-ups are personally overseeing everything! Besides, being positioned next to the star isn’t too bad!” Oh, it’s that White-haired Brother Li! 0

“I don’t care! Backup dancing is fine, but I want a close-up shot!” That was Short Skirt Girl, pouting as she spoke. Today she wore a fitted sweater and black stretchy pants. Perhaps it was getting warm in the hall; she had tied her jacket around her waist, looking stylish and vibrant, full of youthful energy. Ah, from this angle, her curves looked pretty good! What a shame though; her luck didn’t seem great, I thought. 0

“Eagerly, you need to listen. I’ll arrange something better for you next time, okay?!” 0

“What do you mean? You weren’t saying that when we were together last night! Are you messing with me?!” The girl named Eagerly clearly had little patience. 0

“Hey, let me explain!” White-haired Brother Li tried to calm her down. 0

“Beautiful lady! How about joining me in the center of the stage to feel the atmosphere?!” A voice with a stiff accent suddenly interrupted. 0
