The shooting assessment was divided into four groups, each consisting of ten Cadets. The captain and Pighead stood to the side, observing through binoculars. To my surprise, the first Cadet in the first group was none other than Sun Hu! 0

I was astonished. Wasn't he supposed to be exempt from retaking the exam if he scored full marks? I glanced at Pighead, who seemed to notice the confusion among everyone and explained, "Sun Hu, Cadet, was dissatisfied with his performance in the initial exam. He felt that the difficulty wasn't high enough to showcase his true abilities and requested to retake the exam. He set his own movements, aiming to increase shooting difficulty while maintaining accuracy, and we agreed to his request." 0

Wow! That's impressive! I couldn't believe it! However, Sun Hu appeared quite spirited at that moment. After the Examiner issued the shooting command, he casually slung his rifle over his shoulder and waved at the crowd behind him. Following his gaze, I noticed he was looking at Xiao Yu. She seemed to realize this too; her face immediately turned red as she lowered her head but stole glances at Lin Hao. Interesting! 0

When Sun Hu noticed that Xiao Yu's attention was elsewhere, he looked a bit disappointed. Then he caught sight of her secret and shifted his gaze toward where she was looking, his expression darkening as he fixed his stare on Lin Hao. 0

I turned to look at Lin Hao, who clearly noticed Sun Hu watching him. As their eyes met, I saw that Lin Hao's face remained expressionless and calm. Yet for some reason, I sensed a hint of hostility in his handsome features. 0

As the gunfire gradually subsided and the one-minute shooting time approached its end, most Cadets had finished firing from a prone position. What was Sun Hu planning to do? 0

Just then, Sun Hu suddenly turned around and dropped to one knee to start shooting. "Bang bang bang!"—he was firing in rapid succession! Wasn't he worried about the recoil? 0

As soon as Sun Hu finished firing, the Examiner called out, "Time's up! Cease fire and stand by for inspection!" Everyone anxiously looked at the Scorekeeper. I felt that rather than being curious about how the first group's scores would turn out, everyone wanted to know how Sun Hu performed. 0

The Scorekeeper quickly announced the results in order from target 10 to target 1: "...Zhou Weida, 5 shots 44 points... Sun Hu, 5 shots 48 points!" 0

A roar erupted from the crowd of Cadets behind—these were Sun Hu's supporters. Impressive! Five shots in a kneeling position with a score of 48 points; I doubted Old Bi could achieve that—at least not at this stage. Sun Hu truly had some skills! 0

The first group of Cadets quickly finished their assessments, all passing. Now it depended on whether any of those in subsequent groups would score lower; if so, unfortunate outcomes awaited them. 0

The second group was under my instructional supervision, which included Wu Di. I watched as Wu Di shot just like before; upon hearing the command to prepare, Honest followed standard tactical procedures and lay down on the ground. After taking aim for a while following the shooting command, he calmly fired off five rounds at his own pace. When it came time for scoring, I listened closely: he scored 5 shots with 47 points—not top-tier but still respectable. My group of Cadets generally performed better than the lowest score of 44 points from the first group; I wondered what that bottom scorer was feeling right now. 0

The third group consisted of Liu and Old Bi; Old Bi was in position seven while Liu was in position four. I observed that when the Examiner issued the shooting command, neither of them fired immediately but continued aiming instead. After nearly half a minute had passed, they both began shooting almost simultaneously and completed their retake at their own pace. 0

When it came time for scoring, I found myself feeling a bit nervous. To be honest, at this point—even if I were to return and face consequences—I no longer cared much about that. In this competitive atmosphere, I felt that simply being able to stay longer was an honor and proof of my abilities! Old Bi and Brothers—let’s see how you do! 0

When the results were announced, my anxious heart settled back into my chest: Old Bi scored 5 shots with 45 points! Finally, he managed not to fall behind! 0

Liu's score was even better at 5 shots with 49 points. I noticed Liu didn’t seem particularly outstanding or eye-catching but consistently performed well across all subjects—no wonder he ranked third last year. 0

Feeling relieved afterward, I took some time to observe the overall performance of the Cadets in this group. One Cadet had scored only 4 points; if no one in the fourth group scored lower than that, they would all be eliminated. Scoring just 4 points in rapid fire from zero meters meant elimination—it seemed there were many skilled individuals in the military! 0

The fourth group was where Lin Hao was located. I wondered if Lin Hao had greeted the pig-headed fellow and also participated in the retest. However, among the waiting Cadets, I couldn't find Old Li. After searching around for a while, I discovered Old Li sitting in line, eyes closed, holding his 95 and watching Lin Hao and the others. Unable to resist, I walked over and asked, "Old Li, why aren't you going to shoot?" 0

Old Li looked at me as if I were a fool. "Why should I go? I already scored full marks in the initial exam; why would I need to shoot again?" 0

"Sun Hu and Lin Hao both went, didn't they?" I questioned. 0

"Ah, young people love to show off. I'm too old for that. Besides, what if I don't score full marks? That would be a loss," Old Li replied with a sly smile, squinting as he looked at each Cadet in the fourth group. 0

"Old Li, you're really steady." 0

"Hehe! By the way, Wang, who do you think besides Sun Hu, Lin Hao, and Wu Di are outstanding Cadets in the team?" Old Li asked casually. 0

Old Li was acting all senior-like, but I didn't mind and continued, "I think Liu is pretty good. Oh, Old Bi is also not bad; you've seen them both, right?" 0

"Oh, those two," Old Li said with a noncommittal smile. 0

"Hey, Old Li, it's starting!" 0

What I saw was that just as the Examiner gave the command for free shooting, Lin Hao swiftly raised his gun from a standing position and fired a shot! Then he took two steps forward, suddenly lowered his body, knelt down, and shot while sliding on the ground! Finally, he flopped onto the shooting position and fired his last shot in a prone position! The entire sequence flowed seamlessly; there was no sign of strain at all, and it was incredibly fast—perfect for filming! 0

"Good!" A round of applause erupted from behind! Xiao Yu was also screaming loudly in approval. Fighting isn't about being cool or showing off, I silently thought while feeling a bit sour inside. Looking back at Sun Hu, his face betrayed an unmistakable disappointment; clearly, he felt embarrassed for being outdone. 0

"Seven seconds; not bad. Just wondering how accurate it was," Old Li murmured. 0

"What did you say, Old Li?" 0

"Nothing," Old Li replied with a smile again. 0

The results were announced: Lin Hao scored 5 shots with 48 hits! It seemed Lin Hao aimed to surpass Sun Hu in this retest; however, this meant that Wu Di would end up ranking first in this subject. It was rather unwise for Sun Hu and Lin Hao to sacrifice their chances for full marks just for pride! 0

There was also one Cadet from the fourth group who scored only 4 hits; it seemed another Cadet would be eliminated. When the whole team gathered together, I noticed several eliminated Cadets standing quietly to one side. It left me feeling uneasy; the remaining Cadets were all cheerful, but who bothered to glance at those who had been eliminated? Did anyone care about their feelings? During this training session, I felt that rather than allowing everyone to learn more things, it was more about enduring setbacks—a painful acknowledgment of one's inferiority and accepting external blows! 0

As we headed toward the tactical assessment area as a team, I kept pondering this issue. Meanwhile, Xiao Yu at the back of the line was all smiles. She nudged me and asked, "Hey, who do you think will come in first?" 0

"I don't know." Feeling a bit down, I could only respond briefly. 0

"Come on, can't you make a prediction?" 0

"I'm not a fortune teller," I replied listlessly. I knew that Xiao Yu was trying to talk to me not because we were close, but because the two Instructors had already gone back to the dorms with their respective eliminated Cadets to pack their bags. Now, the only ones left with free time were me and Xiao Yu. Bored, she had no choice but to chat with me. She seemed fine, wandering around empty-handed and occasionally glancing at Lin Hao. 0

As for me, since the other two Military Doctors were leaving the team, I was stuck carrying the first aid kit, playing the role of the team's Military Doctor. 0

"You’re really no fun!" Xiao Yu huffed before running off to chat with Pig Head on one side. I could only smile wryly; I’m not your toy! Honestly, I couldn’t understand what Old Bi saw in her. In terms of looks, she and Lulu felt like two different types. It’s hard to judge, but in terms of figure, she really didn’t compare to Lulu! 0

The tactical assessment was relatively simple; as long as you completed a series of tactical movements within the specified time according to the standards, you would pass. Naturally, this time was shorter than the usual passing time. Each group had its own Venue and Examiner for the exam, with group testing and the team leader overseeing everything. The rules remained the same: failure meant elimination. 0

This was something that almost all units trained for regularly, regardless of their nature, so everyone performed well in this assessment. Sun Hu and Lin Hao ranked at the top again, while Wu Di was slightly behind. Old Bi and Liu Laoli were both above average but not outstanding. However, this made it tough for the Cadet who ended up in last place; they were eliminated without any chance to fight back. 0

But who would have thought that the upcoming Combat Assessment would leave me utterly shocked! 0

(To be continued; tomorrow will be even more exciting!) 0
