Not only Newton, but also Fairy Tail, the Albarez Empire, and various Magic Guilds had all gathered.
“Idiot! Idiot! Idiot!”
Mavis was frantically tapping Jelf's head, looking like a daughter playfully teasing her father. But upon closer inspection, it was clear that these two were actually husband and wife. This realization changed the way everyone from Fairy Tail looked at Jelf. Previously, they viewed him as an enemy, someone they could just teach a lesson to. Now, however, it felt more like a situation where they wanted to kill that guy and then place cockroaches in his coffin.
“Mavis? Why are you...”
Jelf stared incredulously at the person before him. Then he remembered that he should have been dead; half of his body had already vanished. No, upon closer inspection, he realized he hadn’t disappeared at all—Jelf was still very much alive.
“Is it really you?”
Jelf had heard about Newton's incredible abilities before. Although it was called Alchemy, it felt akin to creating something out of nothing. He never expected that resurrection was now within reach.
“Of course! Who else could it be?”
Newton shrugged, indicating that this was a trivial matter. He then turned to the crowd behind him and patted one of his bags.
“Everyone, feel free to go ahead. I have prepared countless Philosopher's Stones. Even if you die, I can bring you back to life.”
Well, resurrection might sound grandiose, but when considered practically, it didn’t seem so unbelievable. Even those who had previously doubted were now convinced after witnessing Newton revive two people. The only one who still seemed skeptical was Oghast, but even he remained silent, merely watching quietly.
With Newton’s assurance that they didn’t need to worry about their lives anymore, everyone was ready to fight with everything they had.
“Roar of the Fire Dragon!”
Natsu was the first to lose his composure. His anger towards Acnologia was perhaps the deepest due to his father's death, and there was another crucial reason behind it. Jelf looked at Natsu standing before him with a complicated expression.
“Natsu…”
“I don’t know if I should call you brother…”
Natsu's expression was equally complex. He had inexplicably become a person from hundreds of years ago, a member of the demons, and even the brother of Jelf. This series of identity changes left Natsu somewhat bewildered. But what did it matter to him? Wasn't he still a Mage of Fairy Tail? Was he now an enemy of Fairy Tail? No, that couldn't be right. So, what else was there to consider? As long as he could knock out anyone who harmed Fairy Tail, that would be enough.
"But if you still want to lay a hand on Fairy Tail, or if we hear anything bad about the First Generation from you, we'll take you down..."
It was an interesting statement; "we'll take you down" didn't sound like something an adult would say as a threat. Yet Natsu said it without any sense of awkwardness. It was truly fitting for someone as wild as Natsu.
On the other side, Jelf was on the verge of embarrassment. Although he was known as the strongest Dark Mage, he had never experienced such a scene before. Facing this unfamiliar situation felt like it could evoke the deepest fears from distant relatives.
"You idiots, we're still in the middle of a battle!"
Mavis was utterly speechless. Was this really the time to say such things? Such embarrassing matters should wait until after the fight.
"Roar!"
Acnologia wouldn't just stand by and watch this family act out a comedy. He swiped at them with his claw.
"Can you all stop flirting over here?"
A massive ice giant and a colossal water giant appeared before them, blocking Acnologia's attack. Gray's body was half-covered in black; the power of the demon had granted him strength comparable to that of a Dragon Slayer Mage. Beside him, Zhubian was an absolute prodigy. Having awakened his water magic at a young age and later acquiring the Water Dragon Slayer Magic's Magic Crystal from God's Selene, Zhubian might not have mastered it yet, but he could definitely be considered a Dragon Slayer Mage now.
"Lord Gray is the strongest!"
Zhubian was practically the number one fan girl, openly flirting with Gray despite being on a battlefield. Of course, Gray looked utterly disdainful, while Natsu's face clearly showed his disbelief at Zhubian's boldness.
The black breath shattered the ice and water giants, but just then, before Natsu and the others could react, a head of crimson hair had already stepped in front of the dragon's breath, a massive black shield adorned with blue patterns appearing.
"Do you know how dangerous it is to rush out like that? You're really quite an untrustworthy daughter."
Eileen pouted her lips, but she couldn't help smiling. It reminded her of when Kildas had just reconciled with Kana; they were truly the standard template for foolish parents. Just as she mentioned this couple, they began their own performance.
“Fairy Glitter!”
One of the three great super magics, now within the Guild, aside from Mavis, only Kana seems to still master it. The instant magical attack, even against Acnologia's magical defenses, proves to be overwhelming. Like a heavy hammer, it struck Acnologia from behind, forcing him down to the ground.
“I've been waiting for you…”
Elfman had transformed into the Beast King, accompanied by the beastly Lisanna and the demon form of Miraj. The three of them combined their magic in the air, creating a giant with a beast-like head and a demonic body. Though merely an illusion, its presence was terrifying. The giant's fist seemed capable of tearing the earth apart as it aimed a powerful uppercut at Acnologia, sending him flying once again.
“This isn't over yet!”
The dual dragons of Sword-Biting Tiger entered Dragon Power mode, black and white lines carving deep wounds across Acnologia's body.
On either side of Acnologia, Gajeel and Laxus roared simultaneously.
“Roar of the Thunder Dragon…”
“Roar of the Iron Dragon…”
“Roar!” *2
“What are you staring at?”
Cobra grew bolder, stepping right in front of Acnologia. He pried open Acnologia's mouth and unleashed a toxic Dragon's Roar inside.
Was Acnologia such an easy dragon to deal with? Clearly not, as he retaliated.
With a simple bite and shake of his head, Cobra, along with Gajeel and Laxus, found themselves reporting to Newton. Half of Cobra was gone, while Gajeel and Laxus suffered severe fractures. Then, with a flap of his wings, he soared into the sky. If it weren't for Minerva using spatial manipulation to teleport the two dragons away, they might have joined Cobra in that report.
After clearing away some insects around him, Acnologia began to spin in place. His massive body moved with insane speed, transforming into a whirlwind. The ground around him was upheaved layer by layer, trees uprooted. In just a moment, a vast space was cleared around him.
“Truly terrifying.”
However, to Acnologia's surprise, no one was injured. Not a single person, and it could even be said that the destruction of the environment was limited to Acnologia's vicinity. The reason for this was a massive sphere surrounding him, emblazoned with the Fairy Tail emblem.
At that moment, everyone had a black tattoo-like mark on their wrists. This was Melty's magic, but it had been modified; instead of transmitting pain, it connected everyone's magical power together.
The combined magic of nearly everyone from both continents formed the Fairy Sphere. The last time the Fairy Sphere was used was to save the people of Wolf Island, and this time it was meant to trap Acnologia. Just as Jelf could be killed, Acnologia was not invincible. While one or two people's attacks might do little damage, when countless attacks were combined, their power became formidable.
"Okay, I've locked on..."
Far away, in a place that Acnologia would not notice, Biska led two of the continent's top archers. A massive cannon, nearly ten times larger than any Magic Cannon previously made, aimed at Acnologia trapped within the Fairy Sphere.
"Alright, now it's my turn to make an entrance."
The plan this time was to suppress Acnologia initially, making him believe that their intention was to attack him directly. In reality, they aimed to trap him with the Fairy Sphere first and then deliver a fatal blow using the long-range Magic Cannon. The key was ensuring that once Acnologia was freed from the Fairy Sphere, he wouldn't suddenly escape. Originally, Newton intended to use a robot he created to restrain him; however, due to some coincidences, he discovered something more suitable.
In an instant, the Fairy Sphere was released, and Newton appeared directly above Acnologia. A gigantic magical circle emerged, radiating an aura that even made Acnologia feel fear.
"Is this what you requested?"
The presence exuded an authority that seemed superior to humanity.
"Yes."
Newton appeared to be communicating with him.
"Then pay your price."
"!"
Fear? For Acnologia, this was unnecessary; fear only fueled his anger. Yet his subconscious warned him that something in the distance threatened his life, and he needed to escape.
Unfortunately, it was still a bit too late. A door, resembling a bronze structure yet somewhat different, appeared on the back of Acnologia, and that imposing voice seemed quite satisfied.
"Very well, I shall grant your wish."
"No, no, no, you seem to have misunderstood something."
Newton suddenly changed his tone. To be honest, he hadn’t encountered a god when he revived Miraj; perhaps it was merely a false death? However, when reviving Mavis and Jelf, Newton indeed sensed such an existence—someone who looked down upon the world from a lofty height. The existence of a god did not surprise Newton; otherwise, where would Jelf and Mavis's curse have come from? When he revived Mavis, Newton realized he had seemingly touched the god's bottom line: life itself. To resurrect life at will was the privilege of a god. If one wished to stand shoulder to shoulder with a god, the only outcome could be self-destruction. Yet perhaps it was the Gate of Truth that piqued the god's interest, and it seemed that such a thing could not be obtained through any other means. Thus, Newton made a deal with the god: the content of this transaction was naturally this battle. The god could help Newton trap Acnologia, but only for a fleeting moment, and in return, Newton needed to relinquish the door.
Newton agreed, but what the god did not expect was that Newton was deceiving himself.
"I’m truly sorry; our world’s mages are all a bunch of fire thieves who steal power from the gods."
The Magic Cannon struck, but its target was not Acnologia; it was the door. The immense magical power made the Gate of Truth tremble slightly.
"Let’s exchange; with my remaining body and this vast magical power along with the qualification to open the Gate of Truth, let both the god and Acnologia vanish from this world!"
The door was ultimately Newton's weapon. When opened, it resembled an entrance to hell; everything around had no influence—only Acnologia, the god, and Newton remained, three beings of different races mercilessly drawn into the door. As Miraj and others cried out, the door gradually closed and then disappeared.
Far away on the surface of the sea in Newton's laboratory, in a cultivation pod, a body identical to Newton slowly opened its eyes while Ginger waited nearby.
"Welcome back, sir."
