Augustus was the son of Mavis and Jelf, a fact that Newton could hardly fathom. It wasn't just because Mavis looked like she was only twelve or thirteen years old; it was hard to believe how Jelf could have been involved with someone like her. It was enviable... no, it was more accurate to say it was jealousy. In any case, he was quite the hentai character. 0

According to Augustus, he was actually born in Fairy Tail. After Mavis crystallized, he had already taken shape. It was Hades who discovered him while taking care of Mavis and rescued him. Later, missing Jelf, Augustus secretly left the Guild and began to wander. Hades might have been worried at the time; after all, this child was the son of the first Dark Mage, Jelf. It would be difficult to say that no one would want to exploit that fact. So when Augustus left, Hades chose not to search for him, acting as if this person had never existed. 0

Perhaps it was fate; during his wandering, Augustus awakened his magic, allowing him to instantly replicate others' spells. Coupled with the terrifying magical power inherited from his parents, these two factors gave the young Augustus the means to navigate this continent without encountering much danger. Thus, he continued his journey until he finally met Jelf. 0

But how should one put it? Was Jelf foolish? Or perhaps absent-minded? Or lacking in paternal instincts? Just look at Mavis—she sensed something immediately when she was with Augustus, even trusting him completely without reservation. Yet Jelf failed to recognize that the person standing before him was their child who had grown from a toddler into an elderly man. 0

Augustus also longed for familial affection but simultaneously feared it. He was afraid he could never live up to being called Jelf's son, just like Kana felt overshadowed by her parents' reputation. He thought he needed to achieve something significant to earn their recognition. As a result, Jelf didn’t recognize him either; neither of them spoke about it, and they lived in this tangled state. 0

"Well then, congratulations," Newton said, unsure of what else to say. This felt like a melodrama unfolding at prime time television—did they think this was a romance story? Come on, they were in a battle narrative now; suddenly introducing so much emotional drama felt out of place. 0

"Child..." 0

Yes, a mother who looked twelve or thirteen and her son who appeared to be in his seventies—just saying that already created enough discomfort. Not to mention Newton was witnessing it firsthand; the sense of incongruity was overwhelming. 0

"Ahem, although it's a bit inconsiderate to interrupt your reunion, we should get moving." 0

Newton wanted nothing more than to leave the two together, but when dealing with Acnologia, Mavis aside, Augustus was an irreplaceable force. 0

Meanwhile, the newly reunited Jelf approached a cave entrance where an overwhelming stench of blood wafted out. Strangely enough, there were no visible traces of blood on the ground. 0

Jelf frowned and stepped inside, only to find a one-armed man with dark skin and white hair gripping a large piece of raw meat. The man's sharp teeth tore into it hungrily. With each bite he took, black magical energy surged from the shoulder where his arm had been severed. 0

"Truly like a beast," Jelf remarked. 0

Jelf was not in a hurry; having regained all his powers, he felt confident facing the severely injured Acnologia. 0

However, Acnologia had no interest in conversing with Jelf. This was the first time he had sustained such serious injuries since the Dragon King Festival. Even during the Dragon King Festival, when he had been gravely wounded, he could quickly recover by consuming the flesh and blood of dragons. But now, he only had access to a single artificial dragon. While it provided some assistance, it was not enough to regenerate his severed limb. 0

Acnologia was furious. To him, both humans and dragons were nothing more than ants, and being beaten down by these ants had pushed him to the brink of rage. 0

He tossed aside the piece of meat in his hand and swiped with a claw. The ground was slashed as if by five terrifying blades, causing the earth to buckle and the entire cave to tremble. 0

Jelf frowned as dark magic surged from his body, forming a thin protective barrier in front of him. The five invisible blades collided with the barrier, which held firm against the earth-shattering attack. 0

The black barrier quickly transformed into several black arms that reached out toward Acnologia. 0

Unfazed, Acnologia picked up a large piece of dragon meat and tore into it. The ground beneath him shattered as he suddenly appeared below Jelf. With meat clenched in his jaws, he swiped upward with a claw. 0

“Ugh.” 0

Jelf felt a wave of dizziness wash over him before he was sent flying upward. The thick stone walls crumbled around him as he tasted blood in his mouth. 0

Using magic to form hands that grasped the rock wall, Jelf attempted to right himself in mid-air. But a massive dragon head burst through the rubble, its jaws so close that Jelf could smell death itself. 0

“Drink!” 0

A powerful storm formed before Jelf and exploded directly from Acnologia's mouth, instantly turning it into a bloody mess. 0

But the blood only fueled Acnologia's ferocity. With one remaining claw, he swung at Jelf like a mountain crashing down. Though Jelf managed to defend himself with magic, he felt his vision blurring and his control over magic slipping away. 0

Having lived for so long, Jelf could be described as ageless but not immortal. As the saying goes, when a person is killed, they die—Jelf was no exception. For the first time, he truly felt the reality of his own mortality closing in on him. 0

"Is this what death feels like?" 0

Silence enveloped the surroundings, or perhaps all that Jelf could hear was a persistent buzzing in his ears. 0

"I will drag you down with me, even in death!" 0

Jelf's eyes turned bloodshot, and the magic power along with his life force erupted without reservation. 0

"Die!" 0

Unfortunately, Jelf had forgotten that the previous damage he inflicted on Acnologia using the storm was not due to Acnologia's lowered defenses, but because the storm was not a pure magical attack. Now, facing this Demon Dragon with a pure magical assault, the damage was reduced to its minimum. 0

It was as if he could see Acnologia's sinister grin as Gerard was bitten in half. 0

"Is he dead...?" 0

"Human Rebirth!" 0

Just as Jelf's consciousness began to fade, Newton's voice rang out. 0
