Returning to her own body was not necessarily a good choice for Natsu and the others. Erin had a much stronger control over her own body, and she could use some magic that Wendy couldn't with ease. Moreover, Erin already possessed Dragon Slayer Magic, which she could still utilize now.
However, this also meant that Natsu and the others would feel the pain even more. After all, when they were fighting in Wendy's body, they could afford to hold back a bit. But this time was different; their attacks were aimed directly at vital points.
Erin's expression darkened significantly, but this moment also served to awaken her. She quickly understood the disparity in strength between the two sides and realized where she had failed. The battle was the same, but this time Erin's goal was clear: to capture Wendy.
Facing the formidable Erin, Natsu and the others were completely overwhelmed. Their combat experience and magical power, while not comparable to Acnologia, were still insufficient to deal with her. Previously, they had Emerald Dragon as their main source of offense and defense, but now they had no one to rely on but themselves. After the earlier battle, Erin had also stopped transforming into a dragon. While dragons were powerful, facing Dragon Slayer Mages gave them an elemental advantage. Now, in human form, Erin might not have attacks as terrifying as a dragon's, but she was much more agile and free from elemental suppression, making her attacks flow smoothly.
Natsu and his friends' combat experience wasn't as favorable, but they belonged to the type that could unleash explosive power. Each of them was capable of fighting on the brink of death; although it seemed like they were teetering on the edge of life and death, they could at least hold out for a while longer.
While things were manageable on their side, another scene unfolded elsewhere—the battle among several dragons had turned chaotic. The ground was soaked in blood. Emerald Dragon's tail had been brutally severed, Igneel's right front claw was also torn off, and Iron Dragon bore deep claw marks across its face, leaving one eye blinded. The dragons appeared exhausted; despite their formidable combat strength, one had chosen to assist by healing or enhancing the status of all present dragons. Even now, their magical power was waning. The worst off were White Dragon and Shadow Dragon; both lay on the ground with gaping wounds in their abdomens—White Dragon on its left side and Shadow Dragon on its right. These two dragons were practically sentenced to death. As for the giant Mech Armor sent by Newton, it had been reduced to mere fragments—completely destroyed while trying to shield the dragons from Acnologia's relentless attacks.
Yet amidst such devastation, Acnologia himself did not look unscathed; his left front claw was also severed at the base, and his right wing had been torn away as well. His body was covered in large wounds.
Both sides had reached a point of exhaustion where they were nearly out of energy. However, Igneel felt a greater urgency; they had only survived by hiding within the bodies of Dragon Slayer Mages until now and couldn’t remain there for long. It felt like a summoning skill—one that could only be used once—and Igneel sensed that he might soon be forced back.
"Hey! You over there! Can you hear me?"
Igneel shouted at Newton, who had been present since the beginning in his armor. His voice boomed without any concern about whether Acnologia would hear him.
"Yes, I can hear you. Do you have any last words to leave behind?"
Newton replied from within the armor without thinking too deeply about it; he simply wanted to seize an opportunity. After all, if he could help take down Acnologia as a giant dragon himself, it would be a significant gain for him. Even if he couldn't defeat him directly, through Celestia’s remains, Qishi had already harvested eight pieces of Dragon Slayer Magic's Magic Crystals—so perhaps he could find something valuable again.
"Yes, that scarf has already left its mark. If I want it, I just want to say one thing to you: please take care of my Idiot son!"
The final words were not a record of one's achievements, nor a plea for Newton to save him, but rather a simple request from a father. Newton sighed and nodded silently.
"Roar!"
A terrifying magic surged from Igneel. Perhaps this was no longer mere magic; it was Igneel burning his own life. This desperate fighting style was something only these individuals could employ. No other person or dragon could reach such a level. In fact, Acnologia had encountered others who fought desperately, but the desperation of an ordinary person or dragon was not comparable to that of the Fire Dragon King. Among the resurrected dragons, Igneel was undoubtedly the strongest. Now, with his life forsaken, Igneel became even more fearsome, seemingly unconcerned with each attack.
Acnologia swiped with a claw, but Igneel did not dodge at all. The claw sank deep into his chest as Igneel bit down in return, knowing that Acnologia only had one claw left. The other dragons seemed resigned as well, launching their own reckless attacks.
As a result, the pressure on Acnologia increased significantly. Even if he could inflict damage on several dragons, he would immediately receive retaliation in return.
"Is this kind of fighting style even viable?"
Newton watched the scene unfold before him. While the previous dragon battles were somewhat bearable, this was now truly terrifying. Dragon blood poured down like it was worthless. Newton stroked his chin and grabbed a glass bottle, rushing forward. Although he didn't know if he could keep anything in the end, these were all valuable items, especially Acnologia's blood.
Despite their desperate efforts, raw strength still mattered. With a cry of anguish echoing through the air, half of Igneel's body was torn to shreds; his head was violently ripped off. The Iron Dragon also had its skull crushed. All five dragons were completely annihilated. As for the Emerald Dragon, a large hole had been opened in its chest, clearly indicating its demise.
However, this did not mean that Acnologia emerged unscathed. His entire left arm had vanished, returning to human form on the ground. One eye was already blind, and he had only one wing left; the other was tattered and torn. Although Acnologia could still use magic to float in the air, the consumption of magic was far greater than when he had wings. In this battle, Acnologia lost a significant portion of his combat power, mobility, and vision.
Yet even in this state, Newton dared not provoke Acnologia. He turned and walked away without looking back. Unbeknownst to him, Acnologia clutched the corpse of the Emerald Dragon, leaving the scene behind.
