Jackb lay on the ground, panting heavily, but he felt quite satisfied that he had managed to take down his opponent in one blow.
"These people from the Ishgar Continent are a bit different from the Mages we know."
According to records, those individuals should have been weak. Although he was aware that the members of Fairy Tail were quite formidable, he was a member of the Holy Twelve Shields. The fact that they could fight him to this extent indicated that they were no ordinary Mages.
"Could this be what Fairy Tail's Mages are like?"
Jackb suddenly wondered if this attack had been a mistake. After all, it had started with an invasion of their empire, and then Val had inexplicably betrayed them. On top of that, their vehicles and logistics had been completely destroyed along the way.
"Hey, who do you think you are? I am not one of Fairy Tail's Mages!"
Minerva was unharmed by his attack. The armor she wore not only enhanced her strength but also provided her with adequate protection. The earlier grasp on Jackb was not Minerva herself but merely a remote-controlled projection of her armor, so she had sustained no injuries. Originally, Minerva could have used this to inflict damage on him, but upon hearing him praise Fairy Tail's Mages, she couldn't help but reveal herself.
"I am Minerva, the President of the Sword-Biting Tiger, and I am the one who will defeat you!"
Minerva laughed arrogantly, but as the saying goes, to bring about someone's downfall, one must first make them arrogant. At that moment, Minerva was indeed a bit too overconfident.
"Explosive Space!"
"Invisibility!"
Invisibility was also a form of Spatial Magic; however, it did not involve hiding in another space but merely concealing her form. Although Minerva's attack covered a wide area, Jackb was quite skilled in martial arts and quickly shifted his position. Unless Minerva could expand her attack range, finding him would prove quite difficult.
"Explosive Space!"
With that command, several bombs dropped from Minerva's hands, instantly turning the surroundings into a sea of flames. She fixed her gaze on the wall of fire and soon noticed an unnatural separation in one area.
"Spatial Shockwave!"
The shattered space surged forward like a torrent. Along the way, it encountered invisible weapons but failed to strike Jackb.
"Pfft!"
Minerva felt something sharp pierce her back and instantly activated her teleportation to escape the spot. Looking back at where she had been standing, she saw no one—only some blood on the ground and no other traces left behind.
Minerva continuously shifted her position, but at that moment, Jackb exhibited the patience of a killer, showing no intention of revealing his location. Occasionally, there would be sounds of air being sliced through above her head, followed by new wounds appearing on Minerva's body.
"No way, at this rate, I'm bound to lose..."
Minerva did not give up on her attack, but the consumption of magic from Spatial Magic was too great, so she could only use bombs to strike.
"I have no choice..."
Suddenly, Minerva stopped, standing still. Jackb hesitated for a moment. As an assassin, being suspicious was a good habit, but it could also be a bad one. Now, Jackb worried that Minerva might be preparing some kind of scheme. He raised his hand and threw several weapons at her, but Minerva did not evade; several weapons pierced her body, blood gradually revealing them. Yet Minerva showed no reaction as Jackb continued his assault, her face turning pale.
Jackb turned and walked away. At this point, her lack of response could only mean one thing: he understood her intentions. If he let his guard down, he might truly find himself in a precarious situation.
"Are you really just going to leave? I never expected someone from the Holy Twelve Shields would be outmatched by a mere girl!"
Minerva began to taunt him, but after waiting for a while, there was still no response—not from her whereabouts nor any attacks.
"Have you left?"
With a helpless sigh, Minerva pulled out a potion from her pocket and was about to drink it when suddenly a hand stabbed out from behind her, capable of piercing through her chest before she could consume the potion.
"Smack!"
A demonic arm grabbed Jackb's hand tightly around his wrist. Jackb kicked out instinctively, but it felt like kicking against steel.
"Who are you?"
Jackb's eyes widened as he saw a rather ferocious face. Well, "ferocious" might be an understatement; in fact, if one got used to it, there was a certain beauty to it.
"I never thought you would seek help."
The newcomer was Demon Miraj. In Fairy Tail, few wielded spatial attributes, but Miraj was an exception. Unlike Newton who achieved various abilities through different tools, Miraj absorbed the powers of all demons from the Underworld Gate. Thus, the practicality of Miraj's magic was quite extensive.
"I had no choice."
Minerva shrugged and drank all the potions down; her wounds began to heal rapidly.
"Fortunately your communicator wasn't broken; otherwise we would have been waiting outside for good news from you."
Miraj's form began to change rapidly as a sigil appeared on Jackb's wrist.
"Mm?"
Jackb paused for a moment, looking at the talisman on his wrist, feeling that this thing seemed to resemble one of Blaidman's abilities.
"An explosive ability, huh?"
"Stop right there!"
The magical words sent a chill down Jackb's spine, and his body gradually became stiff.
"It's the power of command..."
The magic within Jackb began to surge, but just as he summoned it, the talisman on his wrist exploded. Before he could even cry out in pain, a storm of wind and flames rushed toward him. Jackb charged forward, only to be met with a powerful punch from Miraj, whose enhanced physique combined with demonic attributes made even a master of martial arts like him no match.
"I can't let myself fall into their hands, even if it means death..."
Jackb prepared to bite down on a capsule in his mouth when suddenly he felt a sharp pain in his neck, and he completely lost consciousness.
