“Agil, are you ready?”
The soldiers of the Albarez Empire had gathered, not all of them, but looking at their neat formation, the armor they wore, and the magical weapons resembling short guns in their hands, it was clear they were an elite force.
“Of course, I’m ready for the slaughter.”
A murderous smile spread across Agil's face as sand began to rise uncontrollably from his skin.
Meanwhile, inside the city, although Mavis had summoned all the armor-clad warriors, a significant number of people still hadn’t escaped. To protect these individuals, members of the Azure Wind Antelope had arrived. The Magical Strike Boat, Christina, had made numerous trips but still hadn’t managed to evacuate everyone.
“Mr. One Night, aren’t you leaving yet?”
Jiang had suggested this many times, but the Azure Wind Antelope members showed no intention of departing.
“Jiang, I know what you want.”
One Night’s movements were rather lewd; he twisted his hands together and struck a triumphant pose.
“But as Mages, we have a duty to protect the people!”
“Jiang, One Night is right. Although we should try to avoid confrontation with them, we have our own principles. Besides, we don’t believe we will lose to them.”
Xiang laughed. Although he had learned detailed information about the Holy Twelve Shields through Jiang, they had never fought against them. The Azure Wind Antelope members held their own pride. While the Magic Guild members chose to follow Mavis’s commands, each person had their own sense of pride; they wouldn’t disobey orders but still wondered if they could measure up against these opponents.
“Oh really? Who gave you that confidence?”
Sand began to rise from the ground and formed a shadowy figure. Agil emerged from the sand and waved his hand; the sand flew toward Xiang like a blade.
“Flash Strike!”
Words formed in the air suddenly erupted in dazzling light and shot toward Agil. However, it only shattered the sand, which fell to the ground and seemed alive as it flowed toward the Azure Wind Antelope members.
“Speed Potion!”
A peculiar aroma suddenly filled the air, and the members of the Azure Wind Antelope felt their speed increase dramatically. Jiang immediately switched to combat mode, and instead of shooting lasers from his hands, he unleashed a fiery blast akin to a flamethrower. The high-temperature flames turned the sand into crystalline formations.
"Oh, this flame is quite interesting. It seems you really have the means to challenge me, but do you think this alone can defeat me?"
Agil waved his hand, and the sand behind him formed weapons resembling sharp blades that shot toward Jiang.
"Power Punch!"
One Night and the others did not retreat; instead, they rushed to Agil's back, their bodies transforming into muscular forms. One Night threw an uppercut, but Agil's body turned to sand, scattering into grains that were nothing more than sand.
"This won't work! Let me handle it!"
Snowflakes began to swirl around Ivan.
"Mist-like Gas!"
The snow mixed with the sand, freezing it instantly. Large chunks of snow fell to the ground as Agil finally appeared before everyone.
"Backflip!"
The dark-skinned Lian used magic to manipulate air, creating an air bubble around Agil. The air inside was quickly sucked out, causing Agil's face to turn a sickly shade of purple, resembling liver.
"This guy isn't all that impressive, is he?"
Xiang shook his head. Holy Twelve Shields? He had expected someone formidable, but from what he saw, they were even less impressive than Erza and her companions.
"Wait!"
Jiang seemed to sense something and shouted urgently.
"Get out!"
"Um?"
Before the four of them could react, Ginger had already grabbed them and rushed out. Just as they, along with a robot, emerged, a massive amount of sand began to fall like rain, collapsing the entire building.
"What... what is happening?"
The scene before them left everyone stunned; the rolling yellow sand seemed endless, and there was not a soldier in sight.
"Let you all die in my Sandstorm World!"
"This level of sand is beyond even my ability to Influence..."
Ivan was momentarily at a loss. If his snow magic could Influence an area of one hundred meters, then this Agil's Influence extended for miles, capable of easily destroying a city.
"That's why I told you to escape quickly..."
Though Ginger knew it wasn't the time to complain, he couldn't help but voice his frustration.
"What do we do now?"
One Night realized there was no point in searching anymore; even the Magical Strike Boat wouldn't be able to fly out through the swirling sands.
"We can't escape, so we have no choice but to fight."
Ginger pulled out his reactor from his chest.
"There might be a massive explosion soon; you all need to leave here as fast as you can!"
"Ginger, there are still many people in the city..."
One Night hesitated.
"Underground, I can't guarantee the safety of those people, but I've done my best to get them to the shelter. As for whether those inside will survive, that's no longer my concern..."
Jiang's movements had become somewhat sluggish. Without the Energy Source, he was on the verge of stopping entirely.
"But like this..."
"There's no time! Run!"
After Jiang finished speaking, the reactor traced a graceful arc in the air, and then the swirling sand first contracted before it began to expand rapidly.
"I'm sorry, it might be a bit too late..."
Before Jiang could finish, he was blown away by the shockwave. The four members of the Azure Wind Antelope were also sent flying. Even with One Night using the power perfume, they couldn't withstand the force of the explosion. The city itself fared better; its thick walls had been built for defense against war. However, most of the buildings inside were left in ruins as if a hurricane had swept through. Some residents hadn't managed to escape or hide in the shelters; those who were lucky were swept up and then dropped to their deaths, while others were pierced by debris and turned into fragments. The entire city instantly resembled hell on earth. The dead might have been fortunate, but those who survived lay on the ground, wailing in agony.
"Tch, that woman..."
Agil's chest was scorched black. Even though Sandstorm World had greatly enhanced his strength, he was still too close to the center of the explosion and sustained significant injuries.
"This city... let it be destroyed!"
Then the swirling yellow sand swept over once more, covering the entire city in a veil of dust.
