Newton had no intention of selling potions; if they became too common, they would lose their value. What he offered were merely ordinary items that could be easily replaced with a bit of money for emergencies. John led Newton and Rona to a house located in a typical residential area. 0

"Alright, for the time being, this will be your home. You can stay here comfortably. While it's not the safest place, it's certainly better than the sewers." 0

John did not feel the need to introduce Newton and Rona to the neighbors; there was simply no point. The house had been abandoned for an unknown period after they had confiscated it during a previous operation against criminals. Since no one had lived there, it had remained vacant, making it a suitable temporary residence for Newton and Rona. 0

"Are we really going to live here?" Rona asked, looking at Newton with a glimmer of hope in her eyes. No girl could resist the allure of beauty, and even if they were eventually taken elsewhere by Norman, away from the sewers, this semblance of normal life felt like a dream come true for Rona. 0

"Yes, for now. I'm not sure how long we can stay here," Newton replied, shrugging his shoulders. He was pragmatic; he didn't have much faith in the city's self-defense forces defeating Norman. It wasn't that he thought Norman was particularly strong; rather, the people here underestimated him far too much. While Norman's explosive abilities weren't overwhelmingly powerful, mishandling them could lead to serious consequences. It was inevitable that Norman would come looking for him eventually; those potions posed a threat to him, as he wouldn't want anyone else with identical powers to emerge. If Newton fled, it would undoubtedly lead to a confrontation. Although Norman might not kill him outright, he would certainly keep a close watch on him. 0

"Will we be in danger?" Rona asked anxiously. 0

"No, not with me around," Newton replied confidently. The wolves of his past had never posed much of a threat to him; how could a half-damaged wolf think it could take him on? It was laughable. 0

"Even if we're not sure how long we can stay here, should we clean up a bit?" Rona suggested, her tone inquisitive yet already picking up a broom to sweep away the dust inside. 0

Newton had bought some daily necessities when he accompanied John earlier to gather supplies, so they were well-equipped for cleaning. 0

However, as soon as he opened the door, dust billowed out at them. Newton instinctively covered Rona's mouth and nose with his hand. He wasn't concerned; after all, he had a purifier in his nasal cavity—just some dust wouldn't bother him. 0

"It's fine; I'm used to it," Rona said as she pushed his hand away. Indeed, the conditions in the sewers were far worse than this; it wasn't just about dust there. If she could adapt to that environment, this one felt like paradise in comparison. 0

"Even if you're used to it, that's not acceptable! You're my daughter! What if there are bacteria or something? What will we do if you get sick?" 0

Newton had fully entered the Idiot mode, completely captivated by Rona. 0

"I'll go in first to open the windows and air the place out, then we can clean together," he said. 0

He motioned for Rona to stay aside and walked into the room. The house was designed with two levels; the first floor contained the living room, kitchen, and bathroom, while the bedrooms were upstairs. Overall, the layout was decent, but perhaps due to neglect over time, everything inside appeared quite worn down. 0

"Ahem..." 0

Despite having a filter in his nose, Newton's throat still felt itchy from the dust. He coughed lightly a couple of times before preparing to open the window. Upon climbing upstairs, he discovered that ivy had already crept in through the window. Perhaps due to the rain, the window frame had rotted away. However, with sunlight streaming in from outside, there was no eerie feeling; instead, it was filled with warmth and beauty. 0

"Ah..." 0

As Newton approached the window, the creaking sound beneath his feet made him feel rather helpless. 0

"It seems I'll need to buy some hammers and nails later; otherwise, if this thing collapses, it would be quite a disaster." 0

At that moment, he hadn’t realized that his initial thought of this place being merely a temporary stop had vanished. Instead, he had begun to consider how to turn it into a home. 0

"Isaac, are you done yet?" 0

Rona was growing impatient and walked up to him, looking somewhat displeased at seeing Newton standing alone by the window. 0

"What are you looking at?" 0

"Don't come over; I'm just checking this window. It seems to be rotting away, and so is the floor here." 0

Newton tapped his cane on the ground, which emitted a sound of strain. Rona immediately halted her steps. 0

"Then can we still live here?" 0

"Of course, it's just that the cleaning supplies we bought might not be enough. We need some things and materials to properly fix up our house." 0

Although Newton said this, he had already reinforced the ground beneath his feet using Alchemy. After all, what if he fell? He walked over to Rona and gently patted her head. 0

"Let's go. First, we'll clean up the first floor, and then we'll go buy you something to eat. Let's see what you want." 0

"Anything is fine?" 0

A few days ago, when Norman moved them, life didn't get better; it just changed locations. The living items were all brought over by Norman, essentially obtained through the sewers. What good things could they have? Now that they were above ground, everything about life was different. 0

"Of course." 0

Even if he used Alchemy to turn ordinary metal into gold, Newton was determined that Rona would eat well. 0

"Can we have cake? The last time Mom brought some back, it was really sweet." 0

Newton patted Rona's head. Cake wasn't a staple food, but this was a celebration of their new home. What was wrong with having cake as a main dish? Of course, he knew that couldn't be the case. Newton was someone who possessed knowledge of cuisines from multiple worlds; he would definitely make sure that Girl would enjoy every bite. 0

"Alright, let's tidy up the house first, and then we'll have cake together tonight!" 0
