Newton had laid everything bare, but whether to believe it or not was up to the Sheriff himself. The Sheriff only half believed Newton's words; perhaps the issue with the sewer was real, but could those potions truly have such remarkable effects? Could they really heal wounds or restore magical power? 0

The Sheriff’s lack of status played a role in his skepticism. Although the Albarez Empire had its conflicts with the Fiore Kingdom, and even fought in the past, it seemed there was no interaction between the two. However, for merchants, as long as there was profit to be made, nothing else mattered. The potions created by Newton were incredibly effective; just transporting them would yield significant profits. Moreover, their sales were booming here. 0

The Albarez Empire had also attempted to create similar potions, but pharmacology was not something that could be mastered by just a few people. Even if they managed to produce something, it would never compare to Newton's top-tier potions. Most of their attempts involved deciphering Newton's formulas, and materials available in Fiore Kingdom might not be found in Albarez, leading to various complications. Newton's potions had indeed marked a turning point for the local alchemy scene. Of course, these thoughts were beyond the Sheriff’s imagination. He had heard of such miraculous potions from another continent before, but those were treasures reserved for the elite; even a single vial in the lord's possession was treated like a priceless gem. If Newton's claims were true, presenting him could lead to rapid promotion and wealth. 0

At that moment, who cared about the villains lurking in the sewers? Even if a few people died, once he achieved his ambitions and left this place behind, it would be someone else's problem. 0

"Are you sure your potion can achieve the results you claim?" 0

The Sheriff’s breath quickened as he looked at Newton as if he were gazing upon his path to promotion and wealth. 0

"Absolutely." 0

Newton nodded and then patted Rona on the head. 0

"Rona, bring out the items." 0

It was useless to try convincing others with mere words; the best way was through action that demonstrated his truth. So when he came out, Newton had brought some of the potions he had made here, including a vial containing demonic energy. 0

The Sheriff took a deep breath to calm himself before drawing his knife and making a cut on his arm. Under Newton's guidance, he drank down the red potion. Almost immediately, he felt a tingling sensation at the wound on his arm, followed by an itch. Soon after, he watched in amazement as the wound rapidly scabbed over. He peeled off the scab to reveal fresh pink flesh beneath; it looked slightly paler than the surrounding skin but caused no pain whatsoever—he had completely healed. 0

"Alright, alright!" 0

The Sheriff immediately became excited. 0

"Well, sir, I have to mention that this potion has a tolerance effect. In other words, drinking a little is fine, but if you drink too much, it won't be effective for your body anymore. If you want it to work again, you'll have to wait for a while." 0

Newton felt the need to temper the other person's enthusiasm; otherwise, he might end up in a difficult situation if the Sheriff got carried away. 0

"Yes, I understand." 0

The Sheriff looked at him with some dissatisfaction. 0

"Can't you make a perfect potion? One with no side effects that can heal all injuries and greatly enhance strength with just one bottle?" 0

Newton felt an urge to lash out at the Sheriff. This question was akin to asking a design company why his black font was red. Such a request was beyond even Panacea's capabilities. After all, healing someone and buffing them were two entirely different matters. At most, one could condense healing effects to address injuries and ailments similarly. As for something nearly omnipotent or capable of doing everything—that wasn't alchemy; that was trickery. 0

Noticing Newton's helpless expression, the Sheriff awkwardly cleared his throat twice and then feigned calmness. 0

"Very well, your contributions are crucial for us to resolve the sewer issues. On behalf of the residents down there, I thank you. Now, please stay here while I find someone to take immediate responsibility for the situation below." 0

The Sheriff found a subordinate to arrange accommodations for Newton and Rona before quickly starting to write a letter. He didn't report the relevant matters to the lord. The reason was simple: their masters were different, meaning their political views clashed. When presented with an opportunity to climb higher, would one willingly give it up for someone else? Moreover, he had no intention of sending anyone into the sewers. After listening to Newton's words, he had already come to believe in the effectiveness of those potions to a large extent. Even if there was some tolerance issue, his people still lacked potions. Besides, there was someone down there who wielded even more terrifying power; wouldn't going down there be akin to delivering himself as a meal? Although his subordinates weren't particularly formidable, most were his trusted allies and resources—his foundation. What would happen if they all perished? 0

However, he wasn't planning to bypass the lord on this matter. Just like above ground, the sewer issues needed resolution; these matters couldn't be hidden forever. It was just about how much benefit he could gain from it now. Once he finished writing this letter, he penned another for the lord but didn't go into detail about the potion's effects. Instead, he emphasized the sewer situation while deliberately downplaying Newton's role in it. 0

However, these matters had nothing to do with Newton. Although he was the one who had stirred things up and it was time to help those in the sewers, this was a failure of the upper echelons, and it had nothing to do with him as the instigator. This was actually Newton's first time seeing what the city of the Albarez Empire looked like, and he couldn't help but start curiously looking around. 0

The same went for Rona. Although she had come out to play before, as a member of the sewers, she had never dared to walk so boldly on the streets. So now, it felt much like two Liu Laolao entering the Grand View Garden. 0
