“Ha ha ha! Die, all of you! Only I am the true king!” 0

Norman held one stone after another in his hands, occasionally throwing one out, then picking up another from the shattered ground, transforming it back into a bomb. In this situation, Norman's firepower only increased; even if others were stronger than him, they couldn’t match his relentless bombardment. It was as if he had lost his mind, completely unconcerned about whether he would collapse the entire sewer system. He tossed the stone bombs carelessly, indifferent to the tremors shaking the underground. 0

“Norman, don’t be so arrogant!” 0

Even though death loomed over them, some people often utter harsh words in their final moments. Indeed, someone had already mentioned that Newton was being sought out; once Newton arrived, Norman would be in trouble. Naturally, they referred to Gold Alchemy, and Norman trembled at the thought. He understood all too well how terrifying a force could be if that potion fell into someone else's hands. Although he had made an agreement with Gold Alchemy, he had subsequently placed the other party under house arrest. The devil's thoughts were continuously eroding him; he found himself distrusting Newton and straying from the rules. 0

As for whether he could defeat Newton, Norman truly had no confidence. It wasn’t just Newton’s strength that intimidated him; it was the potion itself. What if Newton drank it himself or forced someone else to? That would spell trouble for Norman. If several individuals like him showed up later, he would undoubtedly be in a dire situation. 0

“Is that so? But you all are going to die now!” 0

If Newton and Joan came later, Norman would have to face them head-on. However, if he didn’t eliminate everyone here first, teaming up with Newton would mean facing two against one—he might really die here. If it were just one side involved, with fewer people around, escaping would be much easier. 0

With that thought in mind, Norman no longer hesitated and threw all the stones in his hands forward. Explosions erupted—massive explosions—the entire sewer shook as stones and dust rained down from above. 0

And what is a sewer? Essentially, it is beneath the city; thus, the ones most affected were not those below but the residents above. 0

“What’s happening underground?” 0

Every city naturally has a Sheriff to handle such matters. However, everyone was tacitly aware of what went on in the sewers; after all, allowing near-criminals to roam freely in the city only increased their workload. Yet if they didn’t establish a place for these individuals, it would tarnish their political achievements. Thus, sewers became the best hiding spots for unsavory characters. Besides, no one was a saint; everyone had family members who might need to hide from time to time, making the sewers a convenient refuge for them as well. 0

"What on earth are those sewer rats up to?" 0

The Sheriff slammed his hand down on the table, glaring at his subordinates. 0

"Go investigate and find out what's going on! Those guys are supposed to be scurrying around in the sewers, not plotting something!" 0

"Um, sir..." 0

At that moment, a soldier rushed over, his face cautious as if he were afraid of provoking his furious superior. 0

"There’s someone who knows what’s happening in the sewers." 0

"Someone knows?" 0

The Sheriff raised an eyebrow. 0

"Yes, it’s a disabled man with a child. He seems to be from the sewers, but we can’t tell if he’s trustworthy or not, so..." 0

"Bring him here." 0

The one who knew everything was naturally Newton. He had no intention of confronting anyone himself; while he could hold his own in a fight, winning would only expose too much. After all, this wasn’t his territory—let them deal with their own headaches. 0

Newton walked over with Rona. Initially, the Sheriff had looked down on this newcomer from the sewers, as evidenced by the way he referred to them. The higher-ups often looked down on those below them; after all, "rats" wasn’t exactly a flattering term. However, when Newton and Rona stood before him, the Sheriff realized there was something different about them. The girl seemed indifferent, but Newton—despite being disabled—exuded an aura that was hard to ignore. It was the kind of presence that only years of experience could cultivate; not everyone possessed such commanding confidence. Even in tattered clothes, he gave off an impression that made one wonder if he were a king from some distant land. 0

This was, of course, intentional on Newton's part. As someone who had risen from the bottom, if he wanted to gain the trust of others, he had to adapt his approach depending on the person he was facing. Some required him to lower his stance and adopt a respectful demeanor, while others needed him to stand at the same level as them. There were those who expected him to look down on them in order to facilitate conversation. However, this also posed certain risks; Newton's identity could easily lead others to speculate. He couldn't quite grasp how much information these people had regarding Ishgar. If they discovered that Newton was merely a disabled man, even if it was uncertain, they could easily imprison him and interrogate him at their leisure, which would be quite troublesome. Yet, this was also a way for Newton to quickly integrate into the upper echelons of society. If he played his cards right, at least in this city, he would have established connections with those in power. 0

"Who are you?" 0

The Sheriff looked at Newton, but there was no one in his memory that matched this face—not even the girl beside him. 0

"Me? I'm just a fallen Alchemist..." 0

Newton smiled lightly, and suddenly his imposing aura vanished. The Sheriff didn’t feel much of it; instead, he sensed that he had relaxed considerably and regarded Newton with suspicion. 0

"Don’t you want to know what happened in the sewers? This matter actually has some connection to me." 0

Newton feigned a sorrowful sigh and began recounting how he had arrived here and how he had become allies with Norman. He then spoke of various potions and concoctions. The Sheriff didn’t pay much attention to other matters, but when it came to the different kinds of potions, his eyes lit up with interest. 0
