“Ah, dealing with the Dark Guild? You've finally made up your mind?” 0

On the table in front of Newton lay a Magic Crystal, from which Minerva's voice emerged. This device was similar to a mobile phone, allowing for remote communication through magic. However, its drawback was that it couldn't show the speaker's appearance, meaning video calls were still not possible. But research was underway, and perhaps one day Newton would be able to establish a modern magical society. 0

“Yeah, I've made up my mind. So, do you guys from Sword-Biting Tiger want to help out?” 0

Although Sword-Biting Tiger had lost its top position, having held it for so many years meant that their strength remained quite formidable. 0

“Of course we will! There haven't been any decent jobs lately, and this should count as work, right? Your Guild should be willing to pay us, right? You wouldn't make us run around for nothing, would you?” 0

Laughter erupted immediately; this wasn't just a phone conference between the two of them but involved many others as well. Minerva's almost money-grubbing comment was bound to elicit some chuckles. 0

“I’m Minerva. You’re already the President of a Guild now; is it really okay for you to be so obsessed with money? Should we from Mermaid's Heel help you out a bit?” 0

The speaker was Kagura. Although she wasn't the President of Mermaid's Heel or anything like that, she had a good relationship with Newton. He was willing to engage with her and help elevate her importance within the Guild, which was perfectly reasonable for him. However, it seemed that Minerva and Kagura couldn't stand each other; whenever they were together, they would inevitably exchange barbs. It never escalated to actual fighting but had a reminiscent feel of the past rivalry between Miraj and Erza. 0

“Alright, alright, stop arguing. Being able to deal with the Dark Guild is a good thing, but what about the ugly aftermath?” 0

The one who spoke was Emerald. Like Newton, she could be seen as a potential heir to the throne in some sense and had given much thought to such matters. Whatever Newton considered, she had likely thought about too. In reality, she didn't want to give up such power; if it could be used for the Royal Family, then their strength could potentially advance even further—perhaps even against the Albarez Empire. 0

Indeed, it wasn't just Fairy Tail members who were intensifying their training. Newton certainly wouldn't know everything about Meteoric Radiance, but he was well aware of various matters concerning the Albarez Empire. Just think about what kind of people these Mages were—they were proud individuals who refused to back down and cared deeply for their friends. Knowing that Fairy Tail, once the number one Guild in the kingdom, was training hard to catch up with that empire made him realize that if he didn't put in effort himself, he would fall far behind. Whether it was out of admiration for someone or a desire to defeat those from Fairy Tail or simply hoping to battle strong opponents, everyone was striving hard to improve themselves. 0

Even kingdoms are no exception; in fact, they often think more deeply than the average guild member. Having a more powerful neighboring country is akin to living next to a strong neighbor. Regardless of whether that neighbor is good or bad, if they suddenly decide to attack you or if conflicts arise between neighbors, you must have the ability to protect yourself. The situation between nations is even more complex—shifting domestic conflicts, plundering resources, or expanding territory; wars between countries are all too common. This is not a time of peace; in a world where might makes right, the weak can only live in constant fear. 0

As rulers of a nation, they certainly do not wish for such a reality. Therefore, among these individuals, it is the people of the kingdom who are most eager to enhance their strength and national power. Even those from the Dark Guild could be useful if they could be harnessed... In truth, sometimes politics can be dirtier than the actions of those in the Dark Guild. Some ministers within the kingdom may have more blood on their hands than these individuals. As for influence, as long as the kingdom desires it, they can easily fabricate an identity; if they truly possess capability, then using it for their own ends is also possible. 0

The people present at this preliminary meeting were not outsiders; Emerald expressed her thoughts openly. 0

This was something Newton had not anticipated. He believed that the kingdom and everyone else still adhered to old ways of thinking, viewing members of the Dark Guild solely as enemies to be fought. In reality, the key issue with the Dark Guild was not merely their actions or misdeeds—many so-called "bad people" achieve success. The real problem lies with the cult aspect, specifically those who worship Jelf. Wherever Jelf goes, death follows; he is often rumored to revel in death or fear and other such notions. Consequently, this cult behaves in a very cult-like manner, and such anti-human entities are truly unforgivable. They are the primary enemies within the Dark Guild; once this faction is eliminated, dealing with those who commit evil out of necessity becomes relatively simpler. 0

"Are you serious?" 0

Minerva's tone was filled with surprise at the idea of recruiting members from the Dark Guild. When did this princess gain such resolve? 0

"Yes, but those are members of the Dark Guild. Can you really trust them?" 0

Kagura immediately thought of something. 0

"I'm sorry, Mr. Gerard, I didn't mean to imply..." 0

"It's fine; I understand. In fact, this also involves considering everyone's acceptance level. Even our Witch's Sin can only operate in the shadows for now. While we can avoid trouble as long as we stay hidden, it's still not legitimate. Your concerns are entirely reasonable. Moreover, if we employ individuals that everyone disapproves of within the leadership of the kingdom, it could even lead to a coup." 0

Gerard knew that if he weren't friends with Newton and others due to matters concerning Paradise Tower, he might still be imprisoned by the Magic Council or even dead by now. 0

"That doesn't matter much; as long as we handle it well, ordinary citizens can be easily guided. The key now is how we identify those fanatics devoted to Jelf..." 0

Newton tapped the table; this was the crux of the problem. If they couldn't separate these two groups as easily as splitting beans, then everything would be in vain. 0

"I actually have an idea..." 0

Emerald began to outline her plan. 0
