“Damn it!”
Trafas indeed had a formidable defense. Newton had even detonated the explosive in his own hands to prevent any reaction from the opponent, but he never expected that it still wouldn't resolve the situation. The close-range explosion caught him off guard, causing waves of pain in his internal organs, accompanied by a metallic, sweet taste. However, a refreshing sensation soon began to heal his body, quickly suppressing the pain within.
“Human, your attack is quite impressive, but it still lacks a little something…”
Trafas had no intention of engaging Newton in a back-and-forth exchange of blows. The recent explosions and the previous storm were clear examples; once he was caught off guard, who knew what might happen? It was better to wait for Newton to exhaust his oxygen.
Unfortunately for Trafas, he was unaware that Newton had already figured out his characteristics. There was no way Newton would be unprepared; the oxygen mask on his face was specifically designed for underwater combat. If Trafas wanted to engage in a war of attrition, Newton could outlast him until he questioned his own existence.
On the other hand, Lucy had no intention of dragging out the battle. Even with the aid of potions, while her magical power and stamina had recovered, her energy was still depleted. The mental fatigue made her feel like she could fall asleep at any moment, but she couldn't afford to do so; she needed to deal with her enemy right away.
“Hahaha! Girl, just surrender your body to me!”
Furan Mars had fought Lucy before and was already aware of her spells. He intended to use the closing feature of Celestial Spirit doors against her. If Lucy fused with a Celestial Spirit when closing the door, she would be sent to the Spirit World along with it. Previously, she had used Hades' soul, making her quite a troublesome opponent. However, with Natsu's help, Lucy and Natsu had thoroughly defeated him then, causing his soul to flee. Now he was merely relying on his physical strength to fight and had no means of absorbing any Celestial Spirits besides Lucy.
However, without absorption, given his combat abilities against skilled fighters like Leo and Taurus, he found himself in precarious situations multiple times. Yet this guy was indeed tough; even though he couldn't absorb attacks anymore, he managed to absorb them just before being hit and then spit them out when Lucy closed the door again. This allowed him to sustain minimal damage. Even magical attacks could be absorbed by him; however, Lucy still wielded a weapon—the Celestial Whip given to her by Baruga—which was not formed from magic but was a genuine physical attack.
But how could she use a whip to defeat him?
This dilemma troubled Lucy because while the whip could inflict damage, it was challenging to deliver a fatal blow. Even punches from Celestial Spirits were similar; since they were also composed of magical energy, any strike would be absorbed by him.
So, was there anything nearby that she could utilize?
In battle, one must not be rigid; it's essential to make use of everything around them. Lucy scanned her surroundings. Although the recent battle had left everything in disarray, due to the Underworld Beast's presence, utilizing debris could prove troublesome. Just then, she noticed Newton glancing over at her while battling Trafas but quickly turning away.
“Newton?”
Lucy hurriedly instructed Leo and Taurus to help fend off Furan Mars while keeping an eye on Newton's fight.
Newton found himself locked in a prolonged battle with Trafas. The latter intended to wear him down while observing Lucy's predicament; it seemed he needed to devise a plan for breaking through.
With a casual wave of his hand, the Philosopher's Stone emitted light, filling the area with various weapons—sharp blades, spears, shields—along with numerous spherical objects.
The explosions served as propulsion; even a brick could become a terrifying weapon as it shot off in all directions.
Although Lucy didn’t know Newton’s exact intentions, having spent considerable time at Fairy Tail made her quite familiar with some of his gadgets. She immediately realized that Newton was providing her with supplies. The spherical objects were ordinary bombs; however, not all of them detonated—many landed near Lucy instead.
“Leo!”
Lucy seemed to be issuing an attack command to Leo, but Leo had spent more time with Newton than with her. He felt that the current situation was a bit tricky, so he turned to Newton for support. At that moment, he noticed Newton's actions, which appeared to be a form of venting. Hearing Lucy's command, Leo charged towards the wall and threw a punch, sending debris flying towards Furan Mars.
"Useless! Even if it's a physical attack, such a weak strike is completely ineffective!"
Furan Mars taunted as he charged at Lucy.
"Stop right there!"
Leo rolled on the ground and then rushed towards Furan Mars.
However, just like before, Leo directly entered Furan Mars's body.
"Force the door shut!"
Lucy seized the opportunity and slammed the door shut, causing Leo's power to vanish once again within Furan Mars.
"Don't you have any new tricks?"
"Of course I do."
Lucy smiled proudly.
"Newton!"
"Boom!"
Furan Mars was initially surprised, but then his entire body began to swell up before bursting like a bubble.
"Pop!"
"Whoosh!"
Lucy leaned against Taurus's embrace.
"How could this happen?"
Trafas was somewhat astonished and then sensed that things were not looking good. The storm had already lost its fighting capability, and now Furan Mars had been defeated. His current situation was quite dangerous.
"I can't wait any longer!"
Trafas charged straight at Newton.
"Ah, I've been waiting for you to come at me..."
A smile crept across Newton's face beneath his mask.
"Do you know what a penetrator round is?"
A massive, fantastical-looking gun appeared in his hand, resembling a large flashlight.
"Whoosh!"
A searing beam of light shot out, slicing Trafas cleanly in two.
"Ah, sorry, that's not a penetrator round; it should be a laser..."
Then all the water vanished, and Newton removed his mask, stepping over to Lucy.
"How are you? Are you alright?"
"Clap! Clap! Clap!"
