In the world of Fairy Tail, the initiation of a Guild War was originally something that needed to be reported to the Magic Council. However, with the Magic Council now completely destroyed, there was no longer any need for such a cumbersome process; anyone who chose to fight could simply do so.
The selection of participants this time was quite straightforward. If only a portion of the members were sent, there would inevitably be a risk of enemy invasion. Therefore, even Makarov agreed to this battle plan.
Given the current situation, they were already pushing forward without hesitation. The main concern was ensuring that ordinary Mages did not encounter the Nine Ghosts Gate or their President and Vice President. A suitable amount of combat would also benefit the growth of the Mages, so this battle served as training as well.
"Since we've decided that everyone will go, leave the vehicle arrangements to me."
Transportation was indeed a crucial part of their plan. It would not be appropriate for so many people to travel by train. Fortunately, Newton had created several useful inventions, including a large Magic Airship modeled after the Azure Wind Antelope, combined with a Magic Airship confiscated from Demon Heart. This massive airship could comfortably accommodate an entire Guild. Moreover, to prevent any mishaps where damage to one area could cause the entire airship to crash, Newton had divided the airship into several sections. Each section had its own independent space and power system, so they didn't have to worry about accidents.
Soon, everyone boarded the Airship, but there was still some time before they reached the Underworld Gate's base.
"Sigh."
Miraj sighed as she approached Newton. Waiting on the deck was rather dull. The members of Fairy Tail were a restless bunch; fortunately, Natsu and several Dragon Slayer Mages were feeling nauseous from the vehicle ride and were not causing any trouble. Gray also seemed particularly downcast due to issues related to his father.
"What’s wrong? You look troubled; that won’t do at all."
Newton teased Miraj beside him. This time, Miraj's growth should be significant; with all these demons harvested, she might soon rival Kildas.
"I’m just a bit worried. I don’t know why exactly, but you know I’ve absorbed these demons, so I can sense their fear towards that guy known as the King of Hell. It seems his strength is likely on a different level compared to others in Underworld Gate."
Miraj was quite worried. Ever since she stepped down from the front lines, she found herself increasingly longing for that simple life. At the same time, she felt a yearning: if they could successfully defeat the Underworld Gate, then all Three Great Dark Guilds would be resolved. Would that mean she would be safe? Would she finally be able to be with Newton? The thought made Miraj's face flush.
"Maybe," Newton replied, feeling somewhat at a loss. This time, things had gone surprisingly smoothly, leaving him unsure of how to react. In previous encounters with the Six Demon Generals or Demon Heart, every battle had been a near-death experience. But now, it felt like they were dominating the entire situation. Was their strength just too overwhelming? That couldn't be right. Suddenly, Newton recalled a piece of information: these demons seemed to have been created by Jelf. He remembered having crossed paths with Jelf in the past, but back then, Jelf had been searching for Natsu. Wait, Natsu?
Newton glanced at Natsu, whose full name was Natsu Dragneel. N...D... Newton suddenly spoke up.
"Jiang, I know you're nearby. Can you check what Jelf's full name is?"
Newton seemed to realize something important, his expression turning anxious.
"Um, I don't know..."
The response was brief but understandable; just mentioning Jelf's name filled people with fear. Although their previous meeting had been pleasant, who knew if anything had changed since then? From the demons, he learned that the Guild President of the Underworld Gate was named End. Natsu's name already accounted for two of those letters. Newton began to worry; if Natsu really had any connection to Jelf... He thought about Gray and felt a dull ache in his stomach.
"Are you suspicious?"
Miraj noticed Newton's unusual demeanor and looked at him hesitantly.
"Yes. If something goes wrong—Natsu and Gray... Natsu might be fine, but you know how awkward Gray can be..."
Newton was starting to lose his composure. He had shared stories with Miraj about his past encounter with Jelf, so she understood that there might be a connection between Jelf and Natsu. But now speculating that Natsu could be the President of the Underworld Gate seemed a bit far-fetched.
"No, just think about my ugly identity. What if this so-called President is just a fake identity?"
Newton's thoughts gradually became clearer as his analysis progressed, and the truth began to emerge.
"What if this Guild is merely something established by that guy named Hades? What if everything is just part of Hades' own plan, merely done under the names of Jelf and End? But Frenzied Blossom also mentioned that Hades has a book called End. Even they have doubted many times whether it could be the legendary End. Even if it's not, let's not forget that these demons were created using the Book of Zeref. So, it wouldn't be hard to explain the connection between that book and End. Therefore, we must ensure that nothing happens to that book."
Regardless of whether Natsu had any connection to End, the main purpose of the attack was still revenge. It was just a bit different from the mindless confrontations in the past. Destroying everything in one go was simple, but if something happened to Natsu because that book was destroyed, then things would get complicated.
