The wolf was pinned to the ground by Natsu, receiving a thorough beating. Although there were some setbacks along the way, and the wolf even attempted to self-destruct, it was firmly held down by Newton's armor. With the use of a hypnotic drug and a magic suppression agent, the wolf became the second captive of Underworld Gate under Newton's control.
"Well done," Newton said as he cut off communication. There was nothing more to report from that side. However, it was disheartening that among those they had contacted, only Natsu's group had received reliable information. The others were all about Speaker being killed, and only two groups remained unreported: Elfman and Miraj with Erza.
Elfman felt troubled as he faced the demon before him. He had prepared for battle against Underworld Gate upon his arrival or anticipated that someone might already be dead. But who could have imagined that this member of Nine Ghosts Gate would still be here? Why was she lingering like a master, reading books in such a limited space?
At this moment, Elfman couldn't even complain. For safety's sake, he had memorized all the members of Nine Ghosts Gate, but he wished he hadn't bothered; remembering them was far more terrifying.
The woman before him appeared quite ordinary, even somewhat cultured, but in reality, she was a member of Nine Ghosts Gate and possessed a terrifying spell: control. Through this spell, she could command others, leaving ordinary people with no ability to resist her.
"Lisanna, you go ahead. I'll handle this alone," Elfman urged.
Lisanna wanted to help Elfman but understood the woman's abilities. She knew that if they stayed together, trouble could arise, so it was better to leave Elfman on his own. Moreover, Lisanna glanced around; seven suits of armor stood beside Elfman.
"Brother, why don't you wear one too..."
"Lisanna!"
Elfman suddenly screamed as he realized Lisanna had launched an attack against him without him noticing.
"How interesting. It's just a pity that from the very beginning, you stepped into the range of my magic's effect. Controlling you will be as easy as flicking my fingers."
"Armor!"
Though Lisanna's body was under control, her words were still her own. She immediately commanded one suit of armor to restrain herself.
"Send Lisanna away!"
Elfman couldn't command the armor, yet it flew away on its own. After all, this was his sister-in-law, and Newton was monitoring everything closely. How could he not know what was happening here? However, for safety's sake, Newton didn't reveal that the armor was under the watchful eyes of his unit.
"Oh, is this... Puppet? A new Puppet technique? How intriguing."
Sera watched the armor leave without any intention of stopping it. Newton wondered if Jelf had been so focused on creating these demons that he forgot to think; otherwise, why were these creatures so wild? Fortunately, this very trait had worked in his favor. Initially worried about what might happen with such powerful beings around, he now found himself with two captives from the Nine Ghosts Gate. Although one had already been taken by Miraj, it seemed he was about to gain another.
"Obey my command."
However, Sera had no intention of fighting Elfman; in her view, battling him would be pointless.
"Walk back to your Guild obediently."
Sera had stuffed something into Elfman's clothing and then intended to leave.
Buzz!
But one piece of armor blocked her path.
"A Puppet; this is a bit troublesome."
Sera's body began to change. Though those from the Underworld Gate usually took on forms similar to humans when outside, they transformed into their demon forms during battle.
Sera raised a hand, and a beam of magical energy shot toward the armor, but it merely sparked upon impact.
"Interesting; it's quite sturdy."
Sera showed a hint of interest, then shook her head.
"It's just a pity; it’s of no use to me."
She then murmured something to herself that Newton couldn't quite catch. However, he was aware that within the Nine Ghosts Gate, Sera and Frenzied Blossom had a relatively good relationship, or perhaps Sera respected Frenzied Blossom. While she might not know much about others, she certainly knew Frenzied Blossom well. Newton understood that Frenzied Blossom could not only command others and objects but also herself, pushing her limits through self-command.
What reassured Newton was that Elfman had already been taken away by the armor. Otherwise, having both Lisanna and Elfman here would only complicate matters.
The most direct attacks from the armor were the laser cannons in its palms and the guided missiles it carried. Additionally, there were various Magic Crystals prepared for use. However, since the Magic Crystals released magic directly, their power was fixed; increasing magical output wouldn’t help, nor did they have any elemental advantages to consider. So for now, that was off the table. The news of Frenzied Blossom being captured seemed like something he could take advantage of.
As Newton pondered this, one set of armor had already been dismantled. Sera's interest in the medical armor was clearly much lower than her interest in Frenzied Blossom; perhaps this was the difference between armor and bionic robots? The armor had been completely dismantled by Sera.
Just as Sera reached the last piece, Newton's voice suddenly echoed from within the armor.
He first called out Sera's name, followed by Frenzied Blossom's name, then a location, and finally initiated self-destruction. However, through another camera that Sera hadn't destroyed, Newton clearly saw Sera's body tremble. As for whether she would report back, he didn't care; war had already begun. When the time came, all that awaited them at that location would be the Rope Network. If the entire Guild really showed up, Newton was prepared for a direct confrontation.
Yet there was still one Speaker missing among the three. If they truly valued this plan, they wouldn’t act so hastily; ideally, they should lure Fairy Tail away while they snatched Gerard.
"It seems this time I might catch a few big fish..."
