Just a few moments later, Laxus and the Thunder God Clan were carried back.
"Demon Particles..."
Newton slammed his fist down on the table. He never expected that Laxus had only gone to help Agima with the Thunder God Clan, but instead encountered an attack from the Underworld Gate. Agima was killed instantly. Although Laxus defeated the Underworld Gate members, they self-destructed, releasing a large amount of Demon Particles. For Mages, Demon Particles were like the worst poison; on one hand, they diminished others' perception of magic power, and on the other hand, they caused Mages to continuously lose their own magic power. It was as if Newton's magic suppression device was uncontrollable. To save others, Laxus inhaled a significant amount of Demon Particles into his body. While the damage to the others was minimal due to Laxus's intervention, even a small amount of Demon Particles was enough to instill a sense of despair.
"Jiang, pull up the footage from that time."
Newton took a deep breath. Demon Particles were troublesome because even he hadn't anticipated that someone would resort to such a suicidal attack. This was akin to using biological weapons; once deployed, it would result in massive casualties. Even the most deranged individuals wouldn't resort to such tactics.
"Wait, why is this Nine Ghosts Gate guy not affected by the influence of Demon Particles?"
Newton suddenly noticed this detail.
"All demons have some unique traits; perhaps this guy's uniqueness is that he isn't affected by Demon Particles?"
Jiang could only analyze it this way.
"Maybe we should ask Frenzied Blossom; we might learn something."
"If we can get any information at all. However, seeing them like this confirms one thing: they probably have some method of resurrection and aren't worried about dying at all, dragging hundreds along with them..."
Newton was now grateful he hadn't killed Frenzied Blossom outright; otherwise, he would have handed over a powerful combat force.
"Indeed. But what should we do now?"
"The key issue right now is whether we can create a machine to absorb Demon Particles. Jiang, you go research whether it's possible to extract the Demon Particles from Laxus's body. I'll see if I can develop an instrument to absorb the Demon Particles from the atmosphere."
Demon Particles were just like a virus, but with a significant difference from other components in the air. The only thing influenced was magical energy. Since there was already a magic suppression device in place, creating instruments to detect Demon Particles in the air was not difficult. Newton was not being lazy; he simply could no longer tolerate the situation and decided it was time to take decisive action against Frenzied Blossom.
The device to control Demon Particles was quickly constructed, and Newton handed it directly to Jiang before heading straight to the room where Frenzied Blossom was located.
"Tell me your plan and the details about Underworld Gate. I can offer you a quick death."
Newton held a syringe in his hand.
Frenzied Blossom looked at Newton.
"Did something happen to your people? Our Underworld Gate isn't that useless, is it? You must be completely unable to deal with them now, right?"
Frenzied Blossom regarded Newton as if he were an eyesore.
"Honestly, I never intended to be so radical. The substance I injected you with before was merely a sedative-like drug. I have much more terrifying things here; I just thought it unnecessary. But now it seems I underestimated you. Clearly, I should never have regarded you as human from the start."
Newton ripped off Frenzied Blossom's helmet.
"Give me..."
"Smack!"
Just as Frenzied Blossom attempted to cast a Spell, Newton slammed Frenzied Blossom's head onto the table, pressing the syringe into the back of their neck and injecting all the contents inside.
"Mm..."
Frenzied Blossom's eyes became dazed, resembling those of a seven or eight-year-old child. The entire demeanor turned foolish, with a smile plastered across their face.
"What have you done to me..."
"I injected you with something. Monitor her heartbeat, and if it drops, notify me immediately..."
Newton sighed. He had originally planned to slowly manipulate this guy and then let Miraj see if she could handle him. After all, as a demon, the Nine Ghosts Gate would undoubtedly enhance Miraj's abilities. But now, having injected so many drugs into him, he hoped it wouldn't have any influence on her ability to absorb magic later.
"Alright, now tell me, what are you planning with the Underworld Gate?"
"Of course, it's to punish humanity..."
The tone was childlike, yet the words were filled with cruelty.
"We've reached an agreement with the former Speaker of the Magic Council, Crawford Sim. He will inform us about the Magic Council's affairs, and then we will be responsible for destroying the current Magic Council. After that, we'll let that guy become Speaker again. But I have to say, that guy is really an idiot. Our plan is to use him to activate Fiss, a type of magical bomb. This way, all the magic in the world will be completely obliterated, making you foolish humans understand the power of the Underworld Gate."
"Aren't you worried that you might die too?"
Newton raised an eyebrow. Were villains nowadays so dedicated that they would take themselves down while trying to destroy the world?
"Not at all. In fact, we at the Underworld Gate possess a technology called Demon Core. Even if we die, we can resurrect afterward. Let me tell you, we have incredibly powerful technology within the Underworld Gate, including Nine Ghosts Gate... Lord of the Underworld..."
Thus, Frenzied Blossom revealed all information regarding the Underworld Gate, including their current plans. However, finding their base was incredibly difficult since it was a massive moving demon. As for having Frenzied Blossom lead the way... Newton doubted how much consciousness she would retain once the drug wore off.
"Sir, all relevant data has been compiled..."
Ginger approached with a thick stack of documents containing all the information Frenzied Blossom had just shared about the Underworld Gate.
"Good, bring Mira over..."
Newton inquired about the situation and, upon learning that the demon had no influence over the Mage, allowed Miraj to absorb Frenzied Blossom. He then led Miraj back to the Guild.
However, just as they reached the entrance of the Guild, Natsu burst out, only to be yanked back by Newton.
"Newton! The battle has started!" Natsu shouted loudly.
"Wait a minute. I got some information from Frenzied Blossom. If you rush in like this, I'll be collecting your corpse," Newton glared at Natsu fiercely. The demon was indeed powerful, and the effects of its spells could be quite troublesome. If they didn't understand the situation, simply charging in would mean they were at a disadvantage in every aspect—timing, location, and numbers. It would only lead to disaster.
Once inside the Guild, Newton tossed Natsu aside and sighed in relief as he looked at Makarov.
"Newton, do you have any news?" Makarov asked.
"Yes, it's quite troubling..."
Newton then shared all the information he had gathered with everyone.
