"Ugh..."
Frenzied Blossom trembled, arms crossed over her chest, her gaze towards Newton filled with fear and... desire.
"Addicted, are we?"
Newton observed Frenzied Blossom's state without a hint of remorse.
"Well then, are you willing to share any information?"
"You... dream on..."
Though she still refused, her response was markedly different from the previous outright rejection; there was a significant hesitation this time.
"Is that so? Then shall we endure a little longer?"
Newton regarded Frenzied Blossom with a cold indifference.
Frenzied Blossom promptly closed her eyes, fully intending to ignore Newton.
Not caring much anymore, Newton turned to leave. However, his mood was far from good as he departed; Frenzied Blossom's behavior was too unusual. Logically, even the strongest person would have revealed something after being treated this way by Newton. Yet, Frenzied Blossom managed to hold out to this extent, which was beyond Newton's expectations.
"Has anything happened recently?"
Newton glanced at Jiang, feeling an unsettling sense due to Frenzied Blossom's attitude.
"Sorry, everything seems quite ordinary lately, and there hasn't been any news from Sister Minerva either."
Jiang shook his head, indicating that everything seemed calm lately.
"Is everything alright? You've been quite busy recently, and I'm a bit worried. Although these peaceful days are nice, I can't shake the feeling that the Underworld Gate popping up now must have some sort of conspiracy behind it."
Newton advised Jiang, who nodded in response. Just as Newton was about to leave, Jiang suddenly called out to him.
"Sir, I have to suspect that you might be a harbinger of doom; the Magic Council has been destroyed once again."
Jiang's words left Newton momentarily stunned as he looked at Jiang.
"You’re not joking, are you?"
"No, it's true. It was a demon who claimed to be from the Underworld Gate. I don't know why, but their abilities seem to be related to explosive magic. No, if we're talking about demons, it should be called a Spell. The entire Magic Council has been wiped out, with only a few survivors left."
Jiang spoke with a sense of helplessness; after all, the Magic Council had already been destroyed twice now. It really was a disaster-prone organization.
"The Underworld Gate, huh?"
Newton turned around and returned to the room. Frenzied Blossom watched him come back and wore a mocking smile.
"What happened?"
"Right, the Magic Council has been destroyed. Apparently, it was the work of the Underworld Gate. So I want to know if there’s anyone in your Underworld Gate who uses explosive Spells."
Newton was quite straightforward.
"Why should I tell you? And don't you want to know why we're attacking the Magic Council?"
Frenzied Blossom watched Newton warily.
"I'm a bit curious, but not too much. After all, the Magic Council doesn't have much to do with me."
Though Newton said this, he was actually quite worried. It wasn't so much about the Magic Council, but rather about the people in his Guild. They were all a bunch of warm-hearted folks, and if these individuals were intent on destroying the world or decided to come after him, or if Mest came seeking help, he would need to be prepared. After all, Mest had once been part of the Guild. But Newton couldn't let Frenzied Blossom see through his concerns, so he could only ask like this. Besides, Frenzied Blossom didn't understand these matters well enough; even if she suspected something, it didn't really matter.
"Do you really think you'd do something so pointless?"
"Better safe than sorry. If you don't want to, that's fine."
Newton turned to leave again. Once outside the room, he spoke to Jiang beside him.
"Increase the dosage to just below lethal levels and then cut it off."
"Understood, sir. The footage from the battle scene has already come in. Would you like to take a look?"
"Definitely."
Newton connected the video to the large screen, and suddenly the camera shook as the buildings in view began to sway before collapsing.
"Jiang, switch the camera angle. Do we have any other perspectives available?"
Jiang nodded and made some adjustments, and the footage immediately began to change. However, after viewing several cameras, there were no signs of any bombs or figures from the Underworld Gate.
"Search for the location of the demon."
The screen immediately began to flicker rapidly, and then a creature resembling a werewolf appeared, though its fur looked more like that of a jackal.
"Zoom in on this area and enhance the clarity."
Newton pointed to a spot on the screen, and it quickly magnified. He saw that beneath the demon's minion, there was a magic circle.
"It seems this is how to trigger this guy's Curse—by touching it to cause an explosion."
At least he had learned about one of the demon's combat methods; it wasn't entirely fruitless. However, this Spell was rather troublesome. If it were his armor, wouldn't a single touch render it useless?
"Can we track where that guy went?"
"No, their movement speed is too fast. According to the intel, if they hadn't revealed themselves, the Magic Council members might not even know how they died."
Jiang said this with a sense of helplessness, as he never expected the Magic Council members to be so ineffective.
Newton sighed.
"Alright then, let's keep a close watch on news from other areas. If he appears again, have the local armor take action immediately, and make sure to leave one behind for me if possible."
With that, Newton returned to the Guild.
"Isaac, are you tired of the experiments again?"
Makarov looked at Newton with amusement. Newton's presence in the Guild was generally for relaxation; otherwise, he would prefer to stay in the laboratory.
"Just a bit."
Newton sighed.
"By the way, you heard about the destruction of the Magic Council, right?"
Makarov regarded Newton. Honestly, he had no fondness for the Magic Council, but there were still quite a few people inside that he knew.
"I know. I heard it was done by the Underworld Gate, and apparently, it was someone capable of using explosive curses. Here's the detailed battle footage."
Newton showed Makarov the video, and Makarov could only shake his head in disbelief.
"They really are a bunch of useless fools."
"Stay alert lately. I don't know why, but there's this feeling that a storm is coming."
Newton sighed again and took a sip of his drink. However, what he didn't expect was that soon enough, this matter would land on Fairy Tail's doorstep.
