“Mira!”
Erza, clad in armor, charged towards Miraj, who was riding Frenzied Blossom.
Miraj immediately sensed it; after fighting against her enough times, she could tell what Erza intended to do with just a lift of her hand. Gripping Frenzied Blossom tightly, she swung it around.
“Using the same trick won’t work on you, huh?”
Two long swords appeared automatically from behind Erza's armor. Although the armor looked similar overall, there were distinct differences tailored to each individual's characteristics. Erza's set was more focused on cold weapons, while Miraj's emphasized enhancing physical abilities, relying more on brute strength.
With swords in hand, Erza felt a surge of aggression, even if it didn’t provide the same sense of security as her armor. Two deep gashes appeared on Frenzied Blossom’s body, one freshly carved into its chest.
But that wasn’t all. From behind Frenzied Blossom, Miraj delivered a powerful kick.
“Finger Blades!”
Frenzied Blossom's hands suddenly transformed into sharp blades and crossed defensively over its chest.
“Is that all you’ve got?”
In a straightforward duel of swordsmanship, Erza had no fear of her opponent. With a deft flick of her sword, she deflected Frenzied Blossom's claws and once again carved a wound across its chest.
“Damn it!”
Frenzied Blossom could feel the difference; whether it was due to the armor or not, this woman was entirely different from before. Coupled with the mysterious entity that had appeared and the one who had instantly helped the Puppet regain its form, Frenzied Blossom sensed trouble brewing.
“I need to find a way to escape.”
Frenzied Blossom was not a warrior; she was merely a demon. It was perfectly normal for demons to flee when outmatched, so she began contemplating her escape route. However, it was challenging given that she was currently engaged in battle with Miraj and Erza. Newton loomed nearby, looking like an unfriendly presence, and the troublesome Puppet added to her anxiety. Suddenly, she feared she might end up self-destructing like that Puppet. Although demons had means of resurrection, returning in such a manner would only invite ridicule from others.
“Honestly… if I could avoid this, I wouldn’t want to be in this situation.”
Surveying her surroundings, Frenzied Blossom prepared for the worst but still wanted to see just how far these opponents could go. At that moment, she resembled the ginger from earlier—both were determined to gather information with a resolve that suggested they might not survive.
“Is this all your attacks amount to? This is far from enough.”
Having decided to collect data, she aimed to draw their fire and expose everything they had.
"Smack!"
However, Frenzied Blossom had been overly optimistic about the situation. It wasn't that simple; after all, Frenzied Blossom was currently being overwhelmed. With magic ineffective and physical prowess completely outmatched by the armor, Frenzied Blossom shouted defiantly, only to be slapped down to the ground.
"Sir, it seems the opponent is trying to escape."
Jiang immediately analyzed the opponent's intentions and wondered how this guy could be so clueless. Didn't he realize how weak he looked after being overpowered just moments ago?
"I see that. But if Erza and Miraj want to play a bit, let them have their fun for now. Besides, it will take some time to get the Life Pod here."
Newton wasn't sure if the opponent had any means of dying and resurrecting, but it was still wise to prepare for a potential self-detonation. After all, if they could use such tactics, it wouldn't be surprising if the enemy did the same.
On the other side, as time passed, Frenzied Blossom was indeed growing stronger. Initially pinned down by two opponents, now Frenzied Blossom could at least stand up and exchange blows with them. It seemed that if things continued like this, there was a real possibility of overcoming Erza and Miraj. However, Frenzied Blossom felt no excitement; after all, there were still two more opponents waiting in the wings. If they joined in, the outcome would be dire. Yet at least this gave Frenzied Blossom a glimmer of hope—that victory might still be possible.
But with a sudden rush of sound, Newton finally breathed a sigh of relief as the Life Pod arrived. Once inside the Life Pod, as long as Frenzied Blossom was still a living being—even if it were a dragon—it would only be a matter of dealing with the anesthetic. However, Frenzied Blossom couldn't stay calm; seeing hope turn into an unknown threat was unsettling.
"Damn it!"
After trading a punch with Erza, Frenzied Blossom attempted to retreat, but Miraj was waiting behind and delivered a kick that sent Frenzied Blossom stumbling forward.
"You all will pay for this!"
"Thinking of self-destructing? Did you ask me first?"
Newton appeared beside Frenzied Blossom with a smile. Instinctively, Frenzied Blossom struck at him, but then felt an unsettling twist in its body.
"Ahhh!"
Even as a demon, the sensation of being twisted was unbearable for Frenzied Blossom, prompting an involuntary scream.
"Isaac..."
Seeing Frenzied Blossom in such agony made Miraj feel a pang of sympathy as she called out to Newton.
"I'm sorry."
Newton suddenly remembered that he had female companions nearby. He needed to get Frenzied Blossom into the Life Pod, followed by administering a large dose of sedative. As for how to make the opponent talk later on, he thought it best not to let the girls witness it—interrogations could sometimes be quite brutal.
Frenzied Blossom was thrown into the Life Pod and then returned to the base with the help of drones. The matter concerning the demon seemed to have come to a temporary close.
“How did your mission go?”
With no one else to interfere, it was time for Erza and her team to discuss the mission they had received from Vorged.
“We don’t know yet. Do you have any idea why people from the Underworld Gate are here? Could it be that what’s happening here is related to them?”
Erza was curious. Could it be that the Underworld Gate had set its sights on the so-called Eternal Flame? Was that why they attacked here?
“I think I should investigate first. After all, we just arrived and haven’t even entered the village yet.”
Erza felt helpless; they hadn’t even stepped through the door before getting into a fight with bounty hunters, then battling the Dream Demon Eye, and finally clashing with the Underworld Gate. It was quite a mess.
“Alright then, Jiang, you stay here and complete the mission with them. I’ll go back and see what this so-called demon is all about. After all, this was originally your mission, so I won’t join in.”
With that, Newton left with Miraj. Now that Sun Village was safe, the most important thing was to deal with the demon. It would be great if he could uncover some information about the Underworld Gate.
Thinking this, Newton returned to his base.
