"Currently, there are nine dragons, two of which are helping us. Let the Transcenders check on the Emerald Dragon and see if we can persuade it to join our side. Natsu will handle the fire dragon, Wendy, you will assist with the Wind Dragon, and Gajeel, you will team up with the Iron Dragon. Jiang, check where there are no Dragon Slayer Mages; send Kebula to help there. All guilds with Dragon Slayer Mages need to mobilize immediately, while those without should focus on supporting the Dragon Slayer Mages using magic. Defeating the dragons will be left to the Dragon Slayer Mages!"
The moment the Eclipse Gate opened, Mavis began issuing orders. Although those who were not part of Fairy Tail could not see her, Jiang was still able to relay her commands. All guilds halted their actions at once because everyone had received orders from their guild president to fully obey Jiang's commands. Though they did not understand why, the appearance of the dragons made it clear to everyone.
However, not many believed they could confront the dragons directly due to the overwhelming pressure they exerted. But soon, countless Magical Puppets flew in from outside the city, three of which were nearly as large as the dragons themselves. Upon arrival, one of them delivered a powerful punch that sent a giant dragon flying.
"Is this your backup plan?"
Future Rogge's expression darkened significantly; sometimes sheer power was enough. The Puppet before him was formidable just by virtue of its size alone.
"Yes, it's one of them..."
Newton observed Future Rogge while calculating their chances of victory.
"Gerard, hold this guy off for me; I'll take care of destroying the Eclipse Gate."
The dragons were summoned by the Eclipse Gate, so Newton reasoned that destroying it would send them back. Fortunately, since Newton had built the Eclipse Gate himself, he understood its structure quite well. The first phase of Alchemy had already been completed; now he just needed to break it down. The troublesome part was Future Rogge standing in front of the Eclipse Gate; he certainly wouldn’t allow Newton to destroy it easily.
"Not a chance! Don't think for a second that the dragon race is limited to just this!"
The dragon Future Rogge chose was quite extraordinary; it was a Mother Dragon, functioning similarly to a hive for insect species. From it immediately emerged countless eggs, each one hatching into bizarre-looking creatures upon hitting the ground.
"Kill them all!"
Although this dragon might not be the strongest in close combat, the low-level soldiers spawned through its egg-laying method were quite troublesome. First of all, even though these soldiers were considered low-level among dragons, they could still pose a significant threat to an average Mage. The addition of these minions not only complicated Newton's approach to the Eclipse Gate but also greatly affected the battle on the scene. Originally, the members of each Guild only needed to focus on the dragons, but now with the presence of these miscellaneous troops, they had to divert some of their forces to deal with them.
Fortunately, Newton had prepared for a strategy involving overwhelming numbers from the start. Just when the Regular Guild members were feeling distressed, a group of individuals dressed differently from ordinary people charged forward. Upon closer inspection, it became evident that a large portion of them were from the Dark Guild, led by the figure now known as the leader of the Dark Guild, Chou.
"Hehehe, looks like you all need some help."
"Boss, what should we do?"
The Lackeys of the Dark Guild looked excitedly at the Regular Guild members, almost convinced that this was a perfect opportunity to trap them all. However, it was impossible; Chou was Newton's ally. On one hand, he couldn't allow them to truly attack the Regular Guild, and on the other hand, many in the Dark Guild were not foolish. If the dragons really took over the world, what would happen to them?
"Of course, we deal with those giant dragons."
Chou's words seemed self-evident to many. His authority had been well-established over the years; otherwise, it wouldn't have been so easy to persuade these people to assist the Regular Guild. Chou's face twisted in displeasure as he cast a strange look at the hesitant crowd.
"Are you doubting my decision?"
Everyone involuntarily shivered at that question. Doubt Chou? The person who had doubted him was still hanging at the entrance, his body parts already decayed. Who would dare question this guy? Thus, everyone threw themselves into battle against the dragons because being killed by them was just a matter of an instant; however, one could never know how Chou would deal with them.
The addition of the Dark Guild undoubtedly provided a fresh force. Although most of them were cannon fodder, they could still create opportunities for others to secure kills. Not only did they join in, but Newton also brought out all the armor he had accumulated over the years. Three massive robots resembling Gundams created an impact comparable to that of dragons. The armored fighters engaged in fierce battles with monsters spawned by dragons without bleeding or injury; once suppressed, they would simply grab their opponents and take to the skies for a self-destruct maneuver. Thus, Future Rogge was quite surprised to find that neither he nor the dragons had gained any advantage.
"I really underestimated you..."
Future Rogge looked at Newton with some anger. The first time he saw this historically different fellow, he knew it would be a problem, but he never expected it to be this troublesome.
"Do you really think you can fight against the Dragon Clan with just these magical creations? You must have an inflated view of their existence!"
But just like a slap in the face, a massive firework exploded in the sky, followed by the terrifying crimson rain that fell along with the dragon's wails, accompanied by countless mechanical parts.
"How is this possible..."
Future Rogge stared in disbelief at the scene before him. This was a dragon; how could it be so easily dealt with?
Newton, however, was not surprised at all. One of the Gundams had already been completely shattered into pieces, and at the same time, a large number of Mech Armors were deployed. Considering the cost of the Energy Source, taking down a dragon would indeed be quite expensive. But the benefits were obvious: these armors could be manufactured as long as there was money and materials, while dragons were one less for every one killed. As the saying goes, if I can't beat you, I'll just throw money at you until you're dead.
"It seems that in this world, money is still more useful."
Newton felt a bit pained because even with all his effort, he had only managed to create seven Gundams—one per year. Watching one become fireworks was disheartening, but being able to take down a dragon made it worth it. The armors on the ground were not just for combat; they quickly began collecting dragon blood, Dragon Bones, and various other materials. Newton had already decided not to destroy the Eclipse Gate to send the Dragon Clan back. Now that he knew dragons could be killed, they were no longer enemies but prey.
"The hunt... has begun..."
