On the morning of the twenty-first day, everything was as usual. Pumpkin Head continued to host the Great Magic Games, and each Guild was filled with enthusiasm. However, everyone had been informed by their Guild Presidents that today was not just about competition but rather a warm-up, as a real battle could erupt in the afternoon or at any unpredictable moment. The details had already been communicated during the Guild meetings. Although many did not believe this was truly the case, they could sense the atmosphere around the palace, so no one dared to act recklessly.
The Mages fought in a standard manner, but when they truly clashed, it was quite spectacular. After all, there had to be a winner, making it an exciting exhibition match for the audience.
Yet, unbeknownst to everyone, secret struggles had already begun.
"Lucy, you must respond to the call of the keys when the time comes. Not just you, but Yukino Aguria as well. Only by fully unleashing the power of the Zodiac Keys can you close the Eclipse Gate."
Future Lucy hurriedly shared her insights on Celestial Spirit magic with both of them. If they couldn't use Celestial Spirit magic to close the gate when the time came, it would be a disaster.
"It's okay; we have plenty of time. You can try as much as you want."
Newton continued to disguise himself as Marlon. Although actions had already commenced, he couldn't reveal himself easily since all eyes were focused on the participants of the Great Magic Games. Meanwhile, the missing members of Fairy Tail—now under Marlon's identity—had not yet been exposed and could still be utilized. On another front, Natsu Dragneel and his companions were secretly moving around inside the palace with Wendy and Miraj disguised as Lucy, appearing to search for the Eclipse Gate.
In reality, if Newton's surveillance was accurate, many knights had indeed been drawn away; a large number of guards within the palace were pursuing them. However, Future Rogge seemed to be firmly guarding the Eclipse Gate, which posed a challenge.
While teaching Lucy and Yukino Aguria, Newton shared some of his experiences. Even though teaching in this situation was not feasible for practical attempts, he could only hope that their positions would function correctly when needed.
"We should go..."
Future Lucy felt it was about time; arriving at the Eclipse Gate early might lead to unexpected changes.
Newton shrugged and nodded before changing the three into nurse outfits. Ginger had already returned to the Guild because Newton needed her to operate the weapons he had prepared there, ensuring they could be used at a moment's notice.
Yukino Aguria had been sent over by Minerva in the morning. Although she was important, it wasn't appropriate for a girl to stay near boys at night due to various influences; thus, she could only be sent over in the morning without any significant influence.
Then Newton led the three disguised nurses toward the palace.
"Who are you?"
Although the four of them were dressed in medical uniforms, it did not mean they could move freely within the palace; they were still stopped by the soldiers.
"Sorry."
Newton had no intention of chatting with them. Sneaking in with three people felt unrealistic; it was better to charge straight in, and this also made it easier to replace his personnel.
He pulled out a spray-like device and released a hypnotic gas that quickly knocked the soldier in front of him unconscious. Although the defenses of the Eclipse Gate had been strengthened, the advantage was that other areas were more lax due to its presence, making it easier for Newton to infiltrate.
At the moment the soldier collapsed, another person emerged swiftly from behind Newton, dragging the soldier into a dark corner. A closer look revealed that this person wore an identical uniform and picked up the soldier's weapon. Aside from their faces being different, it was as if nothing had happened. Thus, Newton and his team entered the palace, encountering numerous soldiers along the way, but most fell victim to Newton's hypnotic gas or blunt force tactics, allowing for quick replacements.
"Is this really okay? Are we safe doing this?"
Lucy came from a wealthy family and was naturally familiar with the ways of the powerful. Was it really fine for Newton to knock people out like this?
"Don't worry. If we were facing a dragon clan, these soldiers wouldn't be much help anyway; my people are far more useful."
Newton wasn't boasting; his team consisted mainly of Mages and some members from the Dark Guild, all clad in armor, which indeed gave them significantly greater combat strength than the soldiers.
However, stealth was not without its challenges. After all, one could never predict when a mage might casually cast a blizzard. Although that wasn't likely here, as they got closer to the Eclipse Gate, the guards became increasingly vigilant. Newton was starting to feel tired of playing Assassin's Creed; it was time to switch to Berserker Creed.
Boom!
In one corner of the palace, an explosion immediately drew most of the soldiers' attention. Yet those guarding the Eclipse Gate seemed trained to remain unfazed; every one of them acted as if the palace explosion had nothing to do with them.
"You! You're that woman who follows Newton around, right? Don't you think such tactics are rather dull?"
The Kingdom Army remained still, and so did the Order of the Cherry Blossom Knights. Newton was surprised to see Future Rogge step forward on their own.
"No, I am Newton."
Without hesitation, Newton stepped out into view.
" bored? I don't think so. After all, explosions are an art form. Besides, you brought me here like this; aren't you worried I might expose you?"
"Expose me? Everything I have is real. How could you possibly expose me?"
Future Rogge was very confident; he didn't believe the other party could compete with a person from the future.
"That's true. You hold the key to future consultations, but it's a pity that you're not the only one who came from the future."
Newton instructed Lucy and Future Lucy to remove their masks, then addressed everyone.
"Let me introduce Future Lucy, the one who closed the Eclipse Gate."
Future Rogge's expression changed slightly, but he quickly burst into laughter.
"You think that's useful?"
"I think it's quite useful."
"Unfortunately, it's too late. Prepare to face the judgment of the Dragon Clan!"
