The battle between Minerva and Geman was far from spectacular. In fact, Geman's perception of Minerva had remained that of the timid girl who would only be reprimanded by him, too afraid to speak up. This image had been ingrained in Geman's mind for years.
However, Minerva was different now. Although Geman had always presented himself as a strict father—or educator—children often develop a rebellious streak, and the oppression stemming from violence rarely lasts long. With the influence of Marlon, Sting, and Rogue, Minerva had changed significantly from her former self. Moreover, she was not inherently a bad person; her nature was fundamentally good.
When it came to their magical abilities, Geman specialized in general enhancement magic, which allowed him to strengthen his physical capabilities. With his formidable magical power, he was indeed a strong opponent. On the other hand, Minerva wielded spatial magic. While her direct attack power might not match Geman's strength, the peculiarities of her magic could cause immense headaches for any opponent. At least for now, Geman lacked the ability to forcibly counter Minerva's Spatial Magic.
Given this context, the outcome of the battle seemed inevitable—unless Geman turned out to be a deeply hidden protagonist who suddenly unleashed his main character aura. Unfortunately for him, that scenario did not exist.
Every punch thrown by Geman was beyond Minerva's ability to block. Each time an attack landed on her, it could swiftly determine the victor. It would not be an exaggeration to say that Minerva danced on a tightrope. Yet despite this, Geman failed to land a single blow on her; each attack was deftly evaded or redirected by Minerva using her Spatial Magic.
There were many moments when Minerva could have used her spatial magic to let Geman's fists strike her, thereby determining the outcome of the fight. However, she chose not to do so. What she needed was not to control the Guild members through fear as Geman did but to shatter his reign of terror completely. This way, even if Geman appeared before everyone again in the future, they would no longer harbor any fear of him.
Indeed, this was happening. Geman had always presented an almost invincible image before others, but now he had failed to subdue Minerva after such a long time. This caused all members of Sword-Biting Tiger present to begin questioning whether Geman was truly as formidable as they had believed. And with that doubt, Minerva achieved her goal.
Sensing the whispers around her, a smile crept onto Minerva's face.
"Father," she said with an unmistakable lack of respect, "you are no longer suited for this situation. Give up; I don't want our father-daughter relationship to become too strained."
Minerva's words were quite rude and showed complete disregard for Geman, which infuriated the proud man instantly.
"Minerva! Who gave you the courage?"
Geman's magical power erupted once more, causing the air around him to swirl chaotically. Yet facing him directly, Minerva remained unaffected by his influence.
"I'm sorry, Father, if it was something that gave me confidence..."
Minerva glanced at Sting and Rogue.
"It must be my companions and..."
A magical intensity emerged from Minerva that was not inferior to Geman's.
"Strength!"
Newton, in his effort to enhance everyone's abilities to face potential disasters, would never hide anything. He directly brought out the Second Magic Source. In fact, any guild that could withstand it would initiate the Second Magic Source. This is why the Witch's Sin, despite being composed entirely of Dark Guild members, is still referred to as a Gray Guild rather than a Black Guild, thanks to this initiative.
So perhaps someone would wonder, if that's the case, why were Natsu and the others able to quickly close the gap with others after activating the Second Magic Source? They shouldn't have been on par with others. Have you forgotten about the protagonist's aura? Natsu and his friends initially had strengths comparable to those of ordinary Mages who had not activated the Second Magic Source; they were indeed weaker than Minerva and others who had. However, this gap was not significant. The explosive growth in magic power upon activating the Second Magic Source leads to a qualitative leap, which greatly influences individuals during activation. This is one of the reasons Natsu and his friends could catch up with the main force. Another point is their growth rate; seven years ago, Erza was already comparable to the lower-ranked Holy Ten. Such a level is truly extraordinary. Moreover, who did they fight seven years ago? Hades, one of the founders of Fairy Tail; Acnologia—though he was severely beaten—this experience changed their perspective entirely. Considering all these factors, it's no surprise that Natsu and his friends possess such strength.
At this point, Marlon felt that perhaps the appearance of dragons was not necessarily a bad thing. With opponents and goals to chase after, one could better improve oneself. It would be terrifying for someone to lack a goal. Therefore, as long as they could hold their ground and contend with dragons, Marlon believed humanity would only grow stronger.
However, Acnologia—this name was truly terrifying; that level of power surpassed this dimension. If they didn't find a way to deal with that guy... Marlon thought for a moment; it seemed Acnologia was also at odds with the dragons. Could he think of a way to ally with them? Moreover, if they truly came from the Eclipse Gate, perhaps those beings had not yet experienced betrayal from humanity; an alliance could be possible.
Marlon's eyes gradually brightened. If that were the case, could he not push things along? If he could control the degree of opening for the Eclipse Gate and let some dragons in to teach Dragon Slayer Magic while using some dragons as material providers... Hmm, this idea had potential.
However, it was just an idea. Marlon disliked risks; although it sounded good in theory, its practicality was too low. What if he released dragons that couldn't be controlled or let out someone like Acnologia? That would lead to chaos; thus, such thoughts were best left as mere thoughts.
While Marlon was lost in his musings, the battle on another front was nearing its end. Minerva unleashed her formidable combat power; her strange Spatial Magic under her control made her appear like a fairy—elusive and unpredictable. Her attacks weren't particularly strong but always struck when Geman's power had waned after his own attacks or simply utilized Geman's strikes. Blood began to seep from the corner of Geman's mouth.
Geman grew increasingly anxious. On one hand, he was struggling to take his daughter away, and on the other, he noticed the whispers of those around him. However, in his state of agitation, mistakes were easily made.
Minerva seized the opportunity, and then Geman vanished from sight.
"Haah..."
Minerva let out a long sigh, and then...
"I declare that from now on, I am the President!"
