At the moment Newton collapsed, Jiang scanned his body, but found nothing amiss, as if Newton had simply fallen into a deep sleep.
"Is there no problem?"
At that moment, Jiang considered rushing back to confront Rogue and demand to know what had happened. However, after some thought, he decided against it. After all, Rogue didn't know Newton well, and returning to see Newton down would likely lead to more trouble. The best course of action was to return to Fairy Tail and find Makarov and the others. To expedite their return, Jiang manipulated his armor to bring both himself and Newton back to Fairy Tail.
"A visitor from the future?"
Upon Jiang's return, Makarov immediately took note of the unconscious Newton and quickly brought him to Poluchika. Meanwhile, Jiang filled Makarov in on everything outside.
"It seems Newton underestimated things a bit; he probably didn't expect them to act so directly, especially in front of the princess."
"I wonder if this incident was planned by the princess and that Future Rogue together? Since Future Rogue closed the Eclipse Gate, it wouldn't be impossible for Newton to have destroyed it," Mavis observed with keen insight.
"Fortunately, you brought Newton back directly. There’s no issue with his orders. We need to covertly send all the armor and weapons he created to the royal capital. This time, we should carefully select our participants for the Great Magic Games, Makarov."
Given the situation, if Future Rogue was indeed real, they would have to find a way to face hundreds of dragons. Ordinary mages would certainly not stand a chance against them. Mavis knew what Newton had been working on over the years; with those resources, their odds could at least rise to sixty or seventy percent.
"Should we notify other guilds?"
While handing over responsibilities to Makao, Makarov realized that although Newton didn't often take charge, he surprisingly maintained some level of contact with every guild member. Even Sword-Biting Tiger had connections with Minerva, Sting, and Rogue; at least half of those participating in the Great Magic Games were familiar with Newton.
"Yes, let's notify them. After all, if something goes wrong during the Great Magic Games, relying solely on our guild might not be enough," Mavis said as she looked at Jiang.
"There’s no way around it. If Newton could use Alchemy, it would be a bit better, but right now…”
Wanjian looked anxiously at the closed door, unsure if Poluchika would be able to find out what had happened to Newton.
“By the way, if that doesn’t work, we can still ask Gerard for help.”
Newton had also mentioned Gerard to Makarov. Makarov was not the type of person to be rigid; he wouldn’t think of Gerard as a bad person. As for Mavis, she was someone who prioritized Fairy Tail above all else.
Just as they were discussing this, Poluchika pushed the door open and stepped out.
“Ms. Poluchika, is Newton alright?”
Wanjian asked anxiously.
“He’s fine. It seems that whatever it is, it’s not a product of the present, but it is based on Pharmacology. I’ve already prepared a potion to bring Newton back to consciousness, but it might take some time for him to fully recover.”
Poluchika treated people and non-humans quite differently; her demeanor softened considerably when facing Wanjian.
“Is that so? How long will it take for him to fully recover?”
Newton might not be essential for Fairy Tail, but for the Guild and for Wanjian, his presence was like a pillar of support. If possible, she hoped Newton would wake up as soon as possible.
“It will take about a week for him to wake up. During this time, you all should take good care of him. As for full recovery, we’ll see if there are any methods to help his body once he wakes up.”
Poluchika felt somewhat helpless. Although the medicine came from the future, she had already neutralized its toxicity. Even so, it wouldn’t allow Newton to wake up instantly; a week was required. Wanjian nodded in agreement; it was acceptable and certainly better than a longer duration. If Newton were unconscious for several months, that would truly be a serious problem.
"Should we tell Miraj about this?"
Jiang looked at Makarov.
"Yes, let them know. After all, even if we don't tell them, they will find out eventually. The first thing Newton will want to see when he wakes up is you all, not us old men."
Makarov instructed Jiang to inform Miraj and Erza. The two hurried over but brought back some bad news: it seemed that Natsu, Gray, and Lucy were missing.
"Missing?"
Makarov was somewhat angry. Could this be the work of that Future Rogge? If so, Makarov had already decided that he would not let that guy get away with it. Even if a thousand dragons appeared, Makarov would risk his life to teach that person a harsh lesson for daring to harm his family.
However, regarding Lucy's disappearance—if it could even be called that—thankfully, Lucy had the sense to leave a note through her Virgo Celestial Spirit. Although the grammar was all wrong and the language was jumbled, they could still barely decipher that they had likely gone to the Spirit World. This eased Makarov's mind; at least nothing terrible had happened. But then came another wave of complaints: the flow of time in the Spirit World was different from that of the real world. Spending just one day in the Spirit World meant nearly three months would pass in reality. This meant that their training for the next three months was essentially out of the question.
"Those kids really don't make it easy for me."
Makarov felt like he could just eat those kids up in frustration, but gathering with friends didn’t seem like a good idea either. He was just stubborn on the outside but soft-hearted on the inside; he would probably forget about this soon enough. What mattered most now was the issue with the Eclipse Gate. Without waiting for Newton to wake up, Makarov sent invitations to every guild participating in the Great Magic Games, inviting them to discuss some matters—of course, these discussions were kept secret from the kingdom and conducted through the guilds. If Newton had been ambushed in the palace, any further incidents would truly be troublesome.
The various guilds still held great respect for Makarov and sent representatives to Fairy Tail.
