The appearance of Mavis truly startled everyone, but soon after, they all felt a sense of relief. No one cared why Mavis was there; as long as she was a member of the Guild, she was family. It seemed there was no problem with her saving them.
After briefly explaining the situation, Mavis introduced herself to everyone. The main event was about to begin: the plan to bring Fairy Tail back into the spotlight.
Fairy Tail had been silent for far too many years, and this time it would undoubtedly make a stunning comeback. With Mavis and Newton's planning, this could truly be the Great Magic Games, where other Guilds would merely serve as a backdrop for Fairy Tail.
Of course, the first step was to bring everyone back to the Guild. After a flurry of excitement, news of the return of those missing from Wolf Island sent shockwaves through the world.
"Those guys are back?"
Mest felt quite complicated about it. He wasn't alone; members of the Magic Council felt similarly. While they had grievances against Fairy Tail, no one could ignore its past strength. Their feelings towards Fairy Tail were a mix of love and hate.
"Those guys are back? Let's pay them a visit!"
One Night flew towards Fairy Tail on his Airship with his three disciples in tow.
"Hmph, just a bunch of guys who went missing for seven years."
Minerva scoffed slightly, while Sting nervously chatted with Rogue beside her.
"Rogue, should we go check it out? Natsu and Gajeel seem to be there too."
"I..."
"You're not allowed to go!"
Minerva slammed her hand on the table, causing Sting to shiver.
"They will definitely participate in this Great Magic Games. When the time comes, we'll show those guys who is stronger!"
"What's going on? Why so noisy?"
Geman walked over, and the three of them immediately changed their expressions as if they had switched faces. It was surprising that Geman was unaware of such a big event; it seemed his position in the Guild was quite interesting.
However, everything happening had nothing to do with Fairy Tail, as the people from Wolf Island had returned. This was definitely a day worth celebrating for everyone in Fairy Tail.
"Old man, are you really not going to be the President anymore?"
Newton held a wine glass, and even he, who usually didn't drink much, couldn't help but join in. It was clear how festive the atmosphere and everyone's mood were.
"No, I'm quite at ease leaving it to you kids."
Makarov replied calmly. He had been the President for many years and finally felt he could take a good rest.
"You should listen to Makao. My presidency doesn't count for much; I was just thrown into it at the last minute. Most things were handled by Makao anyway, so old man, we still need you."
Newton looked seriously at Makarov.
"You brat, can't you let an old man rest for a while?"
Makarov completely dismissed that notion. After finally shedding his burdens, why would he want to take them back on? No way.
"Perfect timing! I'll take you to see the true secrets of Fairy Tail. This will be your complete takeover of Fairy Tail."
Makarov felt a bit nostalgic. Although he had laid down his burdens, there was still a hint of bitterness in his heart.
"Ah, yours is the First Generation's Corpse Meteor Radiance, right? I've seen that First Generation before. You don't know, but back then, the First Generation was so clueless that they leaked such important information to Hades. They cried so heartbreakingly that I had to comfort them for quite a while before they finally calmed down."
Newton's words made Makarov even more resolute in his decision not to take up the role of President again. Dealing with a whole bunch of tormentors was already enough; now there was an extra ancestor to contend with. He would surely be driven to his demise.
"You've worked hard," Makarov said, patting Newton on the shoulder.
"From now on, the Guild will..."
"What?"
Newton suddenly shouted loudly.
"President, are you deciding to lead everyone again? Are you preparing to take Fairy Tail onto a new path? That's fantastic!"
Newton's words echoed as if he were using a megaphone, drawing everyone's attention.
"What are you all standing around for? Hurry up and applaud to welcome the President back to his position!"
That phrase was quite a mouthful.
Everyone was momentarily stunned before breaking into applause. Makarov's prestige was immense; he truly deserved the title of President. Seeing Makarov's utterly defeated expression, the clever ones quickly caught on and began cheering and clapping. In the end, it was like forcing a duck onto a perch—Makarov was reinstated as the President of Fairy Tail.
"Isn't it a bit unfair to bully the President like this?" Miraj said, looking at Newton with some exasperation. He really was a troublemaker.
"Well, it's true that I haven't done much these past few years. It's really not suitable for me to be President. The next President, whether it's Laxus or Erza, would actually be much more fitting than me. Laxus has Sting to assist him, and Erza has her own aura; I'm nowhere near their level."
Newton had a keen insight. Miraj hadn't expected that Newton would even include Laxus in the mix. The thought of Laxus as President felt somewhat off.
"Forget it. The President position can still last a few more years, and discussing this now is pointless."
Miraj moved past the topic.
"So, how do you plan for us to make our debut?"
"Well, of course, it will be at the Great Magic Games. As long as we win the championship there, it will basically announce the official return of Fairy Tail."
Newton stated matter-of-factly.
"There are still nearly three months until the next Great Magic Games. During this time, I will be responsible for training you all. Once we activate the Second Magic Source, I'll have you trained up. As for the battles then, with the help of the First Generation, you just need to follow their commands."
In recent years, the First Generation had been idle, taking over for Newton in commanding the Dark Guild and Fairy Tail. With Newton's terrifying intelligence capabilities supporting them, they ensured that the Dark Guild neither grew too powerful nor was easily wiped out. This truly allowed Newton to witness what a Fairy Strategist was capable of, as well as the prowess of the former Fairy Strategist.
Although the banquet was enjoyable, it was ultimately fleeting. However, Newton did not delay in starting training; after all, everyone had their own friends. Soon, members from various major Guilds came to visit. Lucy was dragged out by her father for dinner, Gray was taken out by Leo, and Erza found herself being chased all over by One Night. The end result was that everyone received a thorough lesson and deeply recognized the gap between themselves and those individuals. Thus began an intense period of training.
