"Seven years, huh?"
Makarov couldn't help but exclaim in surprise. He never expected that he and the others had spent seven years like this. Newton taking over his position as President didn't come as much of a shock to Makarov, nor did the rise of certain Guilds and the decline of Fairy Tail; all of it was basically within his expectations.
"Sigh, Newton, you're almost thirty now. We're nearly the same age..."
Kildas leaned closer to Newton, and those words made Newton feel an urge to hit him.
"Heh."
Newton curled his lip.
"Newton, what level of strength do we have now?"
Laxus furrowed his brow. Seven years, and Fairy Tail was weaker? Everything about this situation was striking a nerve with Laxus.
"Well, Jiang, bring up the battle videos of the major Guilds from the past few years."
Jiang immediately got to work, and an image appeared on the screen.
First was a video of Fairy Tail... then Serpent Empress's Scale... followed by Mermaid's Heel... then Sword-Biting Tiger... and then...
Almost every Guild's video was shown by Newton, but the more they watched, the more alarmed everyone became. As for Fairy Tail right now, unless they unleashed some hidden cards, they could only expect to fight evenly with their opponents.
"Seven years, huh? It might be a bit troublesome to catch up."
Gray recalled the magic of Leo in his mind. The level of power was such that he could vaguely see the shadow of Uru in him; his senior had already surpassed him.
"Newton, are these two also Dragon Slayer Mages?"
Gajeel shifted his attention to Sting and Rogue. He felt a strange familiarity with these two Dragon Slayer Mages, especially with Shadow Dragon Rogue.
"Yes, one is a Light Dragon and the other is a Shadow Dragon."
Newton had no intention of sharing his speculations about Dragon Slayer Magic with Gajeel. He had discussed these matters with Mavis before, and she agreed that it was best not to reveal such information just yet. During the Dragon War, many had mastered Dragon Slayer Magic and many had grasped lost spells, yet the final outcome was still a pyrrhic victory. If there were indeed issues with Dragon Slayer Magic, revealing them now would only cause more panic among everyone.
"Newton, you must have some way for us to quickly catch up to them, right?"
Miraj looked at Newton, not believing that he had done nothing in the past seven years.
"Of course."
Newton nodded as he looked at everyone.
"Do you all remember Ultia?"
This name caught everyone's attention. Although seven years had passed, for them it felt like just a moment ago, as if they had fought alongside Ultia yesterday.
"What? Did that woman get into trouble again?"
Natsu was already prepared for battle, the entire army... cough, let's keep it respectful.
"It's been seven years, and a lot has changed. The Six Demons and Demon Heart from back then, aside from the two Presidents, are now all working under me. I've handed these people over to Gerard, who established a guild called Witch's Sin. It's somewhat gray, doing good deeds to atone for themselves. I happened to have Ultia research something and develop the Second Magic Source, which can double your magical power. I've also created a simulation training system that allows you to train with the current top talents. With this, your strength should quickly return to the elite level."
Newton sighed; seven years of difference couldn't be easily bridged.
"I'll pass."
Kildas shook his head. He had no intention of letting Newton help him. As for being at the top of this world? Kildas was confident that as long as it wasn't Acnologia or Jelf, even one of the top four from Holy Ten Miles Bread wouldn't stand a chance against him if he truly unleashed his full power.
And indeed, that was the case. No one had ever seen Kildas fight at full strength, and until now, aside from his encounter with Acnologia, Kildas had never been injured.
"I think I'll sit this one out too."
Makarov had come to terms with these matters. Seven years had passed, and he felt reassured with Newton in that position. In the past, he had wanted to put down his burdens and rest properly. Just look at his friends; they were all having a great time while he alone dealt with these kids and took the blame at the Magic Council. Makarov was long tired of it.
"That’s fine; however, activating the Second Magic Source will come with intense pain. If any of you can't handle it, you can choose not to activate it."
Newton's words carried a hint of provocation, but everyone present was proud and didn't want to settle for mediocrity.
Seeing no one stepping back, Newton nodded.
"Alright then, what's left is another matter."
Newton cleared his throat.
"What saved you is one of the three great magics of Fairy Tail, the Fairy Sphere. You don't think the Fairy Sphere can activate itself, do you?"
"So, Newton, are you saying that there were still people on the island at that time? That they activated the Fairy Sphere to save us?"
Makarov felt somewhat incredulous. In this world, the three great magics of Fairy Tail could only be wielded by Fairy Tail itself, and even fewer could master them. Among them, Fairy Law was considered the easiest to grasp. The legacy of Fairy Glitter was on Wolf Island, but as for the Fairy Sphere, Makarov had only heard of it. He knew there seemed to be a method to release it in the library, but was it really the Fairy Sphere that saved them on the island?
"Yes, President, please come out and meet everyone."
Newton nodded, while everyone looked at him curiously, wondering who he was calling. Could it be that Hades had also been subdued by Newton? After all, Newton was now the President. If he called for a President, it could only mean he had joined another guild, which was nearly impossible. It could only be one of the previous Presidents of Fairy Tail. However, Makarov definitely wasn't that person for Newton; Hades shouldn't be either. At that time, Acnologia should have wiped him out completely.
"Newton, no, it can't be!"
Makarov seemed to have guessed something and became a bit agitated.
"Ha, hello everyone! My name is Mavis, and I am your First President!"
The entire room was stunned.
