"What’s going on?"
Makao went to explain to the Kingdom Knights Order, while Newton approached Sting and Rogue, pulling them up and handing each of them a potion. After a moment's thought, he finally made his way to Minerva, reaching out to pull her up as well.
"Get off me, I don’t need your fake sympathy!"
Minerva tried to shake off Newton's hand, but he was using his Mechanical Arm.
"Clang!"
"That hurts!"
Minerva clutched her hand, tears nearly spilling from her eyes.
"I’m starting to regret letting you join Sword-Biting Tiger."
Newton sighed, looking helplessly at Sting and Rogue.
"We think it’s not too bad, although the President..."
Sting fell silent. Indeed, Geman was too stubborn and refused to listen to others. He was also quite brutal; rather than being a Guild, Sword-Biting Tiger felt more like a country—a nation living under Geman's oppressive policies.
"If it doesn’t work out, just withdraw. I’ll figure out how to deal with any trouble."
Newton didn’t want these two to stay in such a Guild; it wasn’t good for them.
"Hmph, what’s this? You just insulted me, and now you want to poach our Guild members?"
Minerva stood by, mocking them coldly.
"I don't care. Our Guild is the strongest. Even if those two leave, it doesn't matter to me."
"Of course you don't care; that Guild isn't yours, it's your father's."
Newton's words left Minerva speechless once again.
"No, Brother Newton, although the President did make a bit of a mistake, we still want to stick to our choices."
Sting still refused Newton's invitation. Newton had no choice but to give up. It seemed he really didn't possess the charm of Makarov, who could even persuade members from rival Guilds to join his own.
"Are you sure you won't have any problems? That guy is so domineering; won't there be any trouble when you go back?"
Newton was still worried.
"It's fine, but my sister..."
Sting glanced at Minerva with some hesitation.
"Our Guild has strict punishments for failures. This time, my sister failed, and it might..."
Newton seemed to vaguely understand why Sting wasn't leaving. He looked at Minerva and couldn't tell if Sting had feelings for her. Should he try to match them up? But with Minerva's personality, perhaps it was better to leave it alone; what if he ended up making things worse despite his good intentions?
"This has nothing to do with me."
As for Minerva, the other party had stepped on Fairy Tail too many times. Newton didn't strike her out of consideration for her being a woman, and now he was expected to help? Don't be ridiculous.
Sting was aware of this as well, so he didn't say much. He could only support Minerva and Rogue as the three of them made their way back to Sword-Biting Tiger.
Ah, they hadn't returned yet, because let's not forget that Ugly hadn't made an appearance.
As the three walked along, pondering how to deal with Geman, a hand reached out, and a cloud of gas sprayed into their faces.
Sting and Rogue clearly had better constitutions; they didn't fall immediately, but Minerva fainted.
"Ah, Dragon Slayer Mages really do have stronger bodies."
Ugly's pale face appeared before the two Dragon Slayer Mages.
"Who are you?!"
Sting shouted angrily, instantly startling several people nearby. This was Sting's intention, but Ugly moved faster. With two swift strikes to their throats, which are quite vulnerable areas on a person, Sting immediately began to cough.
Just then, another Mask Man appeared beside them, snatching Minerva and preparing to leave quickly with Ugly.
"Who are you?!"
At that moment, Newton arrived. In an instant, an iron cage trapped Ugly and the newly arrived Puppeteer.
"Don't move!"
Ugly suddenly pulled out a knife and pressed it against Minerva's throat.
"If you don't want this girl to die right here, Mr. Newton, you'd better let me go."
"Why? That woman has nothing to do with me."
Newton furrowed his brow tightly, but he made no further moves, neither attacking nor releasing her.
"Mr. Newton, I advise you not to waste time, as it would be pointless."
Ugly smiled smugly.
"We're not the only ones here this time."
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Several explosions echoed.
"Mr. Newton, can you guess how many bombs are left and where they are? For instance, are there any in the king's chamber? In the princess's chamber? In your Guild's room?"
Ugly grinned, while the Puppeteer beside him pulled out a remote control.
"Guess where the next one will explode."
"What do you want to do this time?"
Newton's expression was dark, looking quite furious. The Mage was indeed powerful, but if an explosion occurred at close range without armor, the Mage was still just a mortal.
"Well, it's not time yet. Mr. Newton should know that if you follow my rules, nothing will go wrong. So let me take this Girl with me, and I'll leave the remote for the explosion with you. I guarantee you won't be troubled by the bomb. How does that sound?"
Ugly began to negotiate. With the explosion happening, not many people were paying attention to this area, so Ugly was in no rush.
"If you don't believe me..."
Ugly gestured to the Puppeteer and pressed another button. Nothing happened.
"Hmm?"
Ugly paused for a moment, handed Minerva over to the Puppeteer, and took out the remote control, pressing half of it. Seeing Ugly's comical demeanor, Sting felt that the atmosphere had lightened a bit.
But just as Sting was about to mock Ugly, a violent explosion erupted from multiple locations.
"Oops, sorry! I pressed too many buttons, and it seems my remote has a bit of a delay."
Ugly shrugged nonchalantly, but at that moment, Sting no longer dared to speak; the other party was indeed bold.
"Blank rounds and stun grenades—do you think I wouldn't recognize something modified from what the Guild produces?"
Newton looked at Ugly with sarcasm.
"Indeed, but is there really nothing inside?"
The grotesque figure smiled with delight.
"Or perhaps, Mr. Newton, you want to... take a gamble with me?"
Newton fell silent for a moment before speaking again.
"I'll trade with Minerva."
"That's not an option."
The grotesque figure shook its head.
"Mr. Newton is one of the main characters this time. But I can guarantee that as long as you follow my rules, no one will get hurt or die."
The grotesque figure grinned at Newton.
"Come on, Brother Newton, just agree to it."
Sting suddenly spoke up, and Newton could only nod helplessly.
Then the grotesque figure tossed the remote control over. Newton didn't catch it; instead, Sting grasped the remote tightly in his hand.
