The Great Magic Games had been ongoing for three years, each year bringing a sense of exhilaration, yet there were still those who expressed concern.
While it seemed seamless to absorb magic through the Great Magic Games, some had noticed something amiss.
"Eclipse?"
Gerard was one of those who sensed this surge of magic. He could not appear openly in public, even though he had established the Witch's Sin Guild as a means of atonement. But who would believe that? The guild was filled with former top-tier Dark Mages, capable of being formidable regional bosses in any Japanese RPG. Thus, Gerard could only gather information through Newton.
"Yes."
Newton did not hold back and shared everything about Eclipse with Gerard, even making a light-hearted comment.
"You really are reminiscent of your younger self."
Indeed, Eclipse and the R system, Eclipse Gate and Paradise Tower—one aimed to resurrect Jelf while the other sought to completely eradicate him. Their purposes were entirely different.
Ultia had come along with Gerard and suddenly looked a bit uneasy. It was understandable; after all, it was she who had once impersonated Jelf and manipulated Gerard. Hearing Newton speak like this felt quite awkward.
"It's fine; I don't mind."
Gerard forced a smile, feeling a bit embarrassed.
"I was young and foolish back then."
"Ultia shouldn't..."
"Pfft!"
A crystal ball brushed past Newton's ear, and Ultia looked at him gently.
"I'm sorry, I was wrong."
Newton immediately apologized.
"Alright, alright, let's talk about the Eclipse Gate. Are you sure there's nothing wrong with what you've done?"
Gerard wasn't doubting Newton's abilities; as one of the few who had visited Newton's base, he completely trusted his skills.
"No problem. The switch for the Eclipse Gate is merely a decoration. I just created a switch and attached it to the door without connecting it to any power source. The energy is an independent part. In fact, I've made the Eclipse Gate into three separate components: magic, the switch, and magical energy storage, but there is no connection between them at all."
Hearing this from Newton reassured Gerard. Since Newton said there was no issue, then there really shouldn't be one. Gerard decided not to worry about the strange flow of magic during the Great Magic Games anymore.
"What are you planning to do about Sword-Biting Tiger?"
Gerard's words made Tio raise an eyebrow.
"What do you mean?"
"Sword-Biting Tiger has overshadowed your Fairy Tail. Aren't you going to do something about it?"
Gerard meant no harm; he was just teasing Newton a bit. After all, Sword-Biting Tiger wasn't stepping on just one guild but many, with Fairy Tail being the most affected.
Moreover, Sword-Biting Tiger had recently launched a strong offensive against Dark Guilds, seemingly to showcase their strength. Wherever they went, anyone associated with Dark Guilds was killed, and their guilds were completely destroyed. Their methods were ruthless, but since they were targeting Dark Guilds, even the Magic Council couldn't say much. After all, back in the day, Fairy Tail would cause half a port to be destroyed just for carrying out a regular mission.
However, Newton felt a bit uncomfortable about the situation, as both the Dark Guild and Fairy Tail were under his influence.
"Yours too. Although there are only a few years left until the seven-year mark, our Fairy Tail is not something anyone can trample on at will."
Previously, Sting and Rogue had entered Sword-Biting Tiger. Both were Dragon Slayer Mages—one was a Light Dragon Slayer Mage, while the other was a Dark Dragon Slayer Mage. Together, their strength was quite impressive, and they gradually made a name for themselves as the Dragon Slayer Duo. Through these two, Newton had obtained quite a bit of useful information.
This time, Newton planned to tackle both the Dark Guild and Fairy Tail simultaneously. Coincidentally, the Great Magic Games were about to begin, and Newton was preparing to attend once more.
On the other side, Newton found Muki and laid out a plan while also instructing Puppeteer to assist.
Soon enough, the day of this year's Great Magic Games arrived, and Newton was leading the team.
There wasn't much gossip in the royal capital regarding Sword-Biting Tiger. Although some looked down on these individuals, their strength had indeed earned everyone's respect.
"You are from Fairy Tail?"
However, Newton did not intend to seek out members of Sword-Biting Tiger. They would not easily let Fairy Tail off the hook; stepping on their former top rival would be quite an achievement for them. Just then, a striking beauty with an Eastern flair approached, her eyes devoid of any respect and filled with arrogance.
"May I ask who you are?"
Newton appeared quite polite. Although he already knew who she was, he pretended not to recognize her identity.
"I am Minerva of Sword-Biting Tiger. And you are? Has Fairy Tail brought in outside help? I've heard that Fairy Tail's President Newton is just a nouveau riche; I wonder how much he has paid you? Why not distribute that money among everyone? Perhaps someone might just surrender right away."
"Slap!"
Unexpectedly, a banknote stood before Minerva, just like Sharp Blade.
"How much do you charge for a night?"
"You!"
Minerva erupted in anger. Newton could sense the flow of her magical power; it was impressive, but still lacking in some aspects.
"Buzz!"
The Alchemy spell was instantly completed, and a rock pillar shot up from the ground, only to vanish right before Minerva. Newton remained unfazed as the pillars continued to rise from the ground. Minerva's expression darkened, and in an instant, she disappeared from sight.
"Alchemy spell, Newton?"
"Yes, Spatial Magic. It's quite a convenient spell."
Newton smirked.
"But wait until we’re at the Training Ground; there won’t be such a large space for you to hide, Sword-Biting Tiger? Or should I say Sword-Biting Cat?"
"Boom!"
A loud explosion erupted behind Minerva. Her face turned pale, and she tightly shut her eyes.
Newton recognized this as the President Geman of Sword-Biting Tiger, who was also Minerva's father. Was this an act of deep-seated enmity? Could they not be blood-related?
"Bang!"
A massive fist collided with Newton's Mechanical Arm. Gossip aside, and despite their differences, Newton couldn't just stand by and watch a girl get beaten in front of him. After all, hitting a woman is not a good look for any man, especially when it seemed like the attacker was going all out.
"Clang! Clang! Clang!"
Newton exchanged several blows with Geman. True to his body-enhanced nature, Geman was tough; Newton could feel the vibrations coursing through his Mechanical Arm with each hit.
"Bang!"
With one final punch, Newton activated the Energy Source, propelling Geman backward several steps.
"President, this isn't a place for fighting!"
Sting and Rogue rushed in to intervene, but they clearly had no idea about the President's temperament. With two swift punches, Sting and Rogue were sent flying, spitting blood.
"What are you doing?!"
However, it wasn't long before the Kingdom Knights Order arrived. No matter how much Geman wanted to fight, he couldn't do so in front of the Order of the Cherry Blossom Knights; that would be akin to seeking death. So Geman withdrew without even glancing at his fallen Guild members and left the scene.
