The Virtual Training System indeed has many issues, but in reality, it is good enough, at least for people like Makao and others from Fairy Tail, as it serves as a free training partner of Holy Ten level.
However, Newton is quite the trickster; he always sets the upper limit just barely within the range that they can defeat. Each time feels as if victory is within reach with just a bit more effort, yet not a single one of them has ever won even once.
Initially, this system was not designed specifically for training but rather for predictions. Pre-battle calculations are crucial, much like with Acnologia. Thanks to Mavis's presence and some records from ancient texts, Newton obtained incomplete data on Acnologia. Although it was not complete, it was sufficient for Newton to simulate a scenario, and the results were rather grim: even if all current Mages were to join forces, they might still not be a match for Acnologia.
Of course, this "all" is somewhat misleading since Newton did not account for any of the Holy Ten. The only member of the Holy Ten he had encountered was Jura, who provided the most data. Makarov could also be considered one, but it is said that the top four of the Holy Ten are on an entirely different level compared to the others. The top four are referred to as the Four Kings and are said to completely overpower the latter members, making it quite challenging.
However, the current situation is not very optimistic because of Dragon Scales' defense; ordinary magic and weapons struggle to inflict damage on dragons. Only Dragon Slayer Mages wielding Dragon Slayer Magic can truly pose a threat.
Yet, Dragon Slayer Magic is not easy to come by. If it were readily available, Newton wouldn't have encountered only five Dragon Slayer Mages throughout his life.
Days passed like this. Newton initially thought nothing significant would happen and that he would simply wait until everyone returned. To his surprise, a visitor arrived at Fairy Tail seeking him out. With no food to prepare, he could only return to the Guild.
"Mr. One Night?"
Newton was unsure why someone from Azure Wind Antelope was looking for him.
"And me too, an~"
A cat that looked about eighty percent like One Night appeared before Newton.
"Transcender?"
Newton naturally remembered these cats brought over from Edras. Some were employed by him, while many chose to venture out on their own. It seemed this cat had joined Azure Wind Antelope. Although One Night was not a Dragon Slayer Mage and lacked that inherent equipment attribute of cats, seeing their similar faces made Newton curious about what expression Erza would have years later upon encountering two identical faces of One Night.
"I am Ernight, an~"
Ernight—this name belonging to that Transcender made Newton involuntarily twitch his lips into a slight smile.
"Alright, gentlemen One and Two, what brings you to me today?"
Newton's address made One roll his eyes.
"We're here for two main reasons."
Fortunately, One Night and Ernight were both easygoing individuals, and there was no hard feelings between them.
"First, we believe that Wolf Island hasn't disappeared. Second, have you been looking for the Dragon Slayer Mage recently?"
Newton was taken aback; he hadn't shared the first piece of news with anyone. How did they know? He furrowed his brow and looked at One Night.
"Who told you the first piece of news?"
One Night seemed surprised. From Newton's expression, it appeared he wasn't shocked. Could it be...
"It seems you've known about this news for a while. Don't worry; it wasn't anyone else who told us. Our Guild's sound team discovered some unusual magical fluctuations through ancient texts. Since it looks like you're already aware of it, we'll hand over the information we gather to you later."
One Night's words touched Newton. This wasn't just a matter for their Guild or a mission; they were helping Fairy Tail out of friendship.
"Thank you."
Newton said sincerely.
"No problem, no problem! Just make sure to sell us your goods at a slightly cheaper price in the future."
One Night said casually, not caring at all. Newton began to understand One Night's charm a bit more—no wonder Azure Wind Antelope and the others referred to him as their master; indeed, this person had a certain appeal.
"Sure thing! From now on, anything Azure Wind Antelope buys from the Guild will be at a 30% discount."
Newton was quite pleased; this unexpected news brought joy to One Night as well.
"Thank you for that. Now, let's focus on the next piece of information. We might have found two Dragon Slayer Mages."
This news was equally explosive. Originally, Fairy Tail only had two Dragon Slayer Mages, with Wendy joining later, followed by Kebula from Six Demons. Now One Night had discovered two more?
"Wait, two?"
Newton was somewhat skeptical. Could it be false?
"That's right, and they are quite powerful. I believe they are not weaker than Natsu or Gajeel, and it seems those two know Natsu and Gajeel."
This was another shocking piece of intel. Knowing Natsu Dragneel? Newton suddenly became curious about one thing.
"Are those two also taught magic directly by dragons?"
"Yes, and they even killed the dragons that raised them, embedding the corresponding Dragon Slayer Magic's Magic Crystals within themselves."
One Night's words made Newton frown. Killing the dragons that raised them? This was both good news and bad news. The good part was that these dragons were not invincible; they could be killed too. The bad part was that such people might not have the best character. Even Gajeel, with his fierce appearance, showed deep sorrow when discussing his Iron Dragon. For Dragon Slayer Mages, dragons could be like fathers; patricide was certainly not a sign of a good person.
Moreover, what concerned Newton more was that those two knew Gajeel and Natsu? But he had never heard of Natsu and Gajeel like this before. Initially, Newton thought there was no difference between being taught by a dragon and embedding a Magic Crystal, but now it seemed there was more to it.
"So, where are those two Dragon Slayer Mages now?"
Newton felt he was on the verge of something significant, but the information he had was still too scarce to see through clearly.
"Well, they're right here."
One Night provided Newton with an address and then advised him accordingly.
"However, if you want to recruit these two, you need to act quickly, as several guilds have already started approaching them."
Newton chuckled as he looked at One Night.
"Is Azure Wind Antelope also one of them?"
"Haha."
One Night let out a dry laugh.
"You’re not planning to take back the discount, are you?"
Newton shook his head and smiled reassuringly.
"Don't worry, I have no intention of recruiting these two. I'm more interested in finding out some information. If you're really concerned, how about we go together?"
"Go together?"
One Night immediately thought this might be an opportunity to seize some wealth and nodded eagerly. The two of them set off towards the location where One Night was headed.
