Although the Dark Guild was strong, the people brought by Diroth were certainly no amateurs. With the combined might of Chou and the Puppeteer, the tide of battle turned dramatically. Of course, there were still some casualties, but Newton didn’t care; after all, those who died were not his Guild members, and these individuals could serve as excellent materials for the Philosopher's Stone.
"Either die or submit to me."
Chou looked at the rebels who had completely lost their fighting spirit, a strange smile spreading across his face.
"Wait, we at Demon Heart also have the authority to deal with these guys!" one of Diroth's subordinates shouted defiantly.
"Take a look at this; it’s something I managed to acquire with great difficulty," Chou said, eyeing the man who spoke and tossing him a Recording Crystal.
"What is this?" The other man paused for a moment before opening it, and instantly everyone saw the fallen Magic Airship of Demon Heart and the captured Purgatory Seven Affiliates.
"This... how is this possible..."
"Now, do you have anything else to say?" Chou asked, amused by the utterly devastated expression on his opponent's face. At this point, he was in no rush and took a keen interest in everyone present.
"So, what are your thoughts now?"
Everyone fell silent. Why did it feel like the entire world had changed in less than a moment?
"Oh right, I almost forgot. This is Wolf Island, the sacred ground of Fairy Tail. And at this very moment, Fairy Tail is undergoing their S-Class trials..."
Chou laughed so hard that tears streamed down his face.
"You all know what this means, right..."
The crowd fell silent, then suddenly erupted with excitement.
"That's right, as long as the Dark Guild and Underworld Gate are out of the picture, and with the annihilation of the Dark Guild, now is our time to rise. The higher-ups of the Regular Guild and Fairy Tail have been wiped out; this is our golden opportunity. However, we need a leader among us. Do you understand what I mean?"
The ugly words only fueled their excitement further. Was this a call for a power shift? Yet many were still conflicted. Although the higher-ups of Fairy Tail had been dealt with, there were still other members of the Regular Guild.
"I know that the Regular Guild isn't just Fairy Tail; there are many other guilds. But shouldn't we first choose a leader? Someone who can guide us to grow strong enough to stand against the Regular Guild."
Everyone fell silent again, looking at the ugly figure.
"You're right, but how will you prove that you have the ability to lead us?"
"Exactly! We need someone who can lead us. Your strength is already sufficient, but how will you prove that you can..."
"Bang!"
"Did you misunderstand something?"
The ugly figure retracted his handgun.
"The Dark Guild, or this world, respects only the strong. What qualifications do the weak have... to question the strong?"
Everyone fell silent once more. Indeed, respect for strength was a fundamental principle in the Dark Guild. Understanding this, they slowly knelt down, even Diroth's subordinates followed suit.
"Good choice."
The ugly figure nodded and then turned to Mu, who was also kneeling.
"Mu, from now on, you and Puppeteer will handle matters concerning the Dark Guild... Don't let me down, understood?"
At that moment, Mu was drenched in cold sweat, and the meaning behind the ugly words was clear: the Circus needed a Puppet. Having the Puppeteer here implied just that. Without a controlled Puppet, how could things proceed? And he was the one helping the Circus manipulate the entire Dark Guild. However, for Mu, there was more excitement than fear. The Bare Bandage Man was merely a subordinate of one of the Six Demon Generals within a Dark Guild, but under the Circus's influence, he had risen from being just below the Three Great Powers to now standing at a position where he was second only to all. This sudden shift in status caught Mu off guard; it was a feeling of wielding great power. He knew he wasn't strong and lacked the ability to hold such a position on his own, but with the Circus backing him, it meant he now had leverage—even if it was merely riding on someone else's coattails. He possessed something he had never dared to imagine in his previous life. He understood that to continue climbing higher, he could only rely on the Circus.
"Master, I understand!"
Mu bowed repeatedly like a chicken pecking at grains, his forehead bleeding, yet his face still wore a smile.
"You all, gather all of Diroth's assets for me, and then we will send people from the Circus to take over."
Ugly did not intend to let Diroth's subordinates continue managing Diroth's properties. Ugly planned to consolidate the entire Dark Guild; it was better to keep these assets firmly in his hands. Besides, there were already Guilds established in Regular Guild territory, so acquiring another set of assets for the Dark Guild would be quite beneficial. It was wiser not to put all eggs in one basket.
"Understood."
Even if Diroth's subordinates were unhappy about it, they had no choice. In their minds, they were already planning to transfer assets once they returned. And as for sending people? When they reached their territory, wouldn't they be able to do as they pleased? That was basically how they thought.
Who was Ugly? Another identity as a Guild big shot meant he wouldn’t make such a rookie mistake. If these guys really intended to pull something off, they certainly wouldn’t be let off easily. But this was also good; if all were old-timers from before, Ugly would definitely feel uneasy. Recklessly inserting his own people would inevitably lead to an overly bloated organization. So it was better to cut down on some personnel and bring in new faces while also giving them a sweet deal—why not?
"Is this really okay?"
Newton did not return immediately; instead, he brought Jiang into the house first.
"It’s fine. With you by my side and Mu as insurance, I can control things here remotely."
"No, I am your body; please allow me to serve you some tea..."
Jiang brought over a cup of black tea that must have been taken from Diroth.
"It’s alright..."
Newton fell silent immediately.
"In fact, perhaps Wolf Island has not disappeared."
"What do you mean?"
Newton's hand trembled involuntarily.
"I can still feel a connection to the body created by Mr. Jabir. Although it's faint, it hasn't disappeared."
Jiang's words reignited hope within Newton.
"You mean..."
"That's right. Wolf Island is likely hidden away. After all, as the sacred ground of Fairy Tail, it must have some form of self-protection."
"Is that so..."
Newton closed his eyes.
"Then I'll leave this to you. I need to head back..."
Newton couldn't wait to return to his laboratory.
