"Newton, Newton... wake up, wake up."
Newton felt someone tapping his face and slowly opened his eyes, a faint crimson hue greeting him.
"Erza? Where is this?"
Newton felt a slight headache as he looked around. His home? Why did it feel so off?
"What’s wrong? You look pale. Should we go see Lady Poluchika?"
Erza's forehead touched Newton's, and he instantly blushed, stepping back only to realize that both he and Erza were completely naked.
"Why... why are you not wearing any clothes?"
Newton's face turned bright red as he tried to cover himself, only to discover that he too was without clothing.
"What is going on?"
Newton was stunned. Why were both he and Erza not dressed?
"What’s wrong with you? You’re not burning up. Did you forget? Yesterday was our wedding day."
"Mmm..."
A melodious sound caught Newton's attention, and he turned to see the alluring Miraj stretching lazily, also without a stitch on.
"You two are up so early."
Miraj rubbed her eyes, still looking a bit drowsy.
"Mira, why are you here too?"
Newton felt as if he had forgotten something very important. What had he been doing before...?
"What nonsense are you talking about? Didn’t we get married yesterday?"
Erza seemed a bit shy and winced as she moved her body.
"Ouch..."
Seeing Erza frown made Newton's heart ache, and he quickly pulled her into his arms.
"What's wrong? Does it still hurt?"
As for what he had forgotten, Newton had already pushed that thought aside.
"Um, not really..."
Erza's face flushed as she looked at Newton, feeling a bit embarrassed.
"I'm just a little hungry."
Newton couldn't help but laugh as he placed Erza back under the covers and got out of bed.
"I'll go prepare breakfast. You two just rest here; Mira, don’t get out of bed."
Seeing Miraj trying to get out of bed made Newton chuckle as he lifted her back under the covers. He headed straight to the kitchen, contemplating the morning menu.
"Alright, let’s make some porridge—white fungus and lotus seed porridge will be perfect for them to replenish their strength—and a plate of pickled vegetables along with some scallion pancakes."
As he cooked the porridge and prepared the dough, even though breakfast was simple, the aroma filled the kitchen under Newton's skilled hands.
Erza and Miraj had somehow managed to put on casual clothes and appeared at the kitchen door, both sniffing the air and swallowing hard in anticipation.
Newton found it amusing; glancing around, he noticed there was still rice left over. He took out some plums and salt to make two rice balls.
"Here, eat this while you wait; the porridge needs more time to taste better. Just sit tight for now; I’ll bring it over when it’s ready."
Miraj and Erza devoured the rice balls like hamsters while Newton hummed a tune as he watched over his porridge.
The porridge was nearly done, so Newton turned down the heat. He took out a frying pan and thought for a moment before grabbing a banana to mash up. He spread a thin layer of banana puree inside the dough before placing it in the frying pan.
The pancakes were almost ready, and so was the porridge. He cut the pancakes into four pieces, ladled three bowls of porridge, sliced some pickled vegetables finely, and brought everything out to the table.
"Wow, it smells amazing!"
Miraj exclaimed with delight as she eagerly picked up a piece of pancake and took a bite. The sweetness combined with the crispy outer layer and warm banana filling enveloped her in warmth.
"Mmm... is there more?"
Erza enjoyed it too but wished for something more filling; this little bit wasn’t enough for her appetite.
"Okay."
Newton hesitated for a moment before rushing back into the kitchen to prepare a bowl of clear soup noodles—this would definitely satisfy Erza's hunger.
After breakfast, Newton planned to stay home but was promptly shooed away by Miraj; there were matters at the Guild that needed his attention.
"Seriously? This is my first day as a newlywed!"
Newton slumped over his desk in despair while Jin sat nearby with an indifferent expression.
"Bss, that's your family business; I have no opinion on it. Besides..." Jin adjusted his glasses.
"It seems I’ve managed fine without you; everything has been running smoothly lately even if you don’t come by. Miraj probably just wants you to not cling to them all day long; according to data, women prefer marrying capable men."
"Well, that’s true; but this is my first time—can’t I enjoy it just a little?"
Newton pouted in frustration with a sigh.
"Alright then, what’s going on lately?"
"Well, the Dark Guild has united all its factions; there might be some major movements coming up soon. Also, we need to update our armor—the kingdom has increased its order by three hundred sets, especially for dragon armor due to recent heavy losses in battles against dragons."
Jin's report made Newton sigh again.
"Got it; I'll push those things through soon enough. As for the Dark Guild situation, I’ll discuss it with Laxus later about possibly forming an alliance—but our main enemy remains the dragons. We need Natsu and the others to speed up their experiments; we need more data to improve our Dragon Slayer armor."
Newton sighed again as he delegated these tasks.
"Alright." Jin nodded before leaving.
Newton sat in silence for a moment before suddenly breaking into a bitter smile.
"Forget it; let’s go check on the Guild."
He got up and headed towards the Guild where Kildas, Mister Gang, and several others were gathered while Laxus shouted angrily amidst all the noise.
"Hey Newton! How was last night?"
"Newlywed night—oh ho ho~"
"Miraj and Erza didn’t come today either~"
"Newton, your stamina is impressive!"
"Hahaha!"
"Enough of you lot." Makarov cleared his throat while looking at Newton with an amused expression.
"Come on now; can you give me some peace? You’re still the Former Guild Master!" Laxus said with exasperation as he looked equally worn out.
"So good..." Newton murmured softly.
"You guys... are still alive, right?"
"Hahaha! What nonsense are you spouting? We’re all perfectly fine!"
Everyone laughed together while Newton nodded—yes, they were alive; they were all alive.
"They must all be alive!" Newton roared defiantly into the air.
