“Don’t even think about running away! Laxus, this guy is mine to take down! Roar of the Fire Dragon!”
“Please let me help too! Dragon's Roar!”
“Are you two looking at me? Iron Dragon's Roar!”
“Change form, Dance of the Wheel!”
“Demon Strike!”
“Create ice, Cavalry!”
The attacks completely overwhelmed Hades; even his magic couldn’t fully defend against their onslaught. As the dust settled, Hades' cloak and staff lay shattered.
“Hades? Former President? Your biggest mistake was underestimating your old Guild.”
Kildas approached, his magic surging powerfully.
“Have you misunderstood something? I alone am enough to kill all of you! Demon’s Law!”
Hades swiftly unleashed Demon’s Law, a spell derived from Fairy Law, a classic magic of Fairy Tail.
“Get back!”
Makarov knew that only Fairy Law could counter Demon’s Law, and powerful magic surged between the two.
“Fairy Law!”
The two immense forces collided, but with the support of Demon Heart, Hades still held a slight advantage as the dark light gradually suppressed the light.
“Buzz!”
A laser shot through Hades' shoulder, causing him to falter before he was forced to detonate his magic.
“Damn it, you again!”
Hades was furious; if he failed this time, most of the blame would fall on this guy.
“Ah, it’s truly an honor to be recognized by the previous President. Allow me to introduce myself; I’m Newton, a Mage of Fairy Tail now. By the way, my real body isn’t here, so your Demon’s Law won’t work on me.”
Newton's tone was quite irritating; after all, laws target consciousness as their attack object. He genuinely didn’t believe this spell could trace its magical signal through phone lines.
“Black Bullet!”
A black magic bullet shot towards Newton.
“I love a firepower showdown.”
His armor activated dual laser hands and fired back at Hades—yes, firing back was correct.
Hades didn’t want to engage in a shootout with Newton; he increased his magical pressure on Newton and sent Dark Chains flying toward him.
“Clang!”
Erza blocked Hades' attack with her sword while Miraj fired another magic cannon from afar.
A black wall rose before Hades, absorbing Miraj's attack, but then a figure appeared from the side with lightning in a punch, while another fiery figure charged in from the other side.
Hades had no choice but to retreat as Gajeel unexpectedly awaited there, his arm transformed into a sword slashing at Hades.
“Dark Shockwave!”
A sphere exploded in Hades' hand, sending shockwaves in all directions. Laxus fared better, but Natsu and Gajeel were knocked back by the force.
“Natsu!”
“Gajeel!”
At that moment, two pieces of armor appeared behind them as platforms that pushed forward instead of retreating.
Laxus deliberately took a step back; without thinking, Hades charged toward him when suddenly Kildas appeared from behind Laxus with his fist aimed at Hades.
“Bang!”
Without using any magic—just pure magical energy—Hades was sent flying by Kildas’ punch.
“Is it over? So it seems the final blow really was Kildas’?” Natsu said, clearly displeased.
“By the way, who passed the test this time?” Natsu casually walked back without noticing everyone’s alarmed expressions.
“Natsu, get out of the way!”
Black magic surged toward Natsu; instinctively he lunged forward just as Newton's armor caught up and shielded him from the attack.
“Boom!”
The armor shattered while Natsu looked back in fear at Hades rising once more.
“This is really troublesome.”
Everyone stood alertly once again watching Hades closely.
“It’s useless; I possess endless magical power! I am the strongest!”
Hades removed his eye patch dramatically.
“In pursuit of the path of magic, I am certainly different from you punks!”
It was terrifying; at that moment when Hades fully unleashed his magic, everyone felt a heavy weight in their hearts facing Purgatory Seven Affiliates—all peers with not much difference in magical power or strength of spells. Against the previous Hades they felt they could win; however now they sensed they could barely see Hades’ limits anymore.
“My years of research into magic are beyond what you kids can imagine! Behold! This is my strongest magic—an forbidden spell from Chapter Four, Paragraph Twelve of the Book of Zeref! You will welcome death while wailing in despair!”
Powerful magic surged forth as several demons appeared behind Hades; after all, the Book of Zeref recorded various forbidden spells and summoning demons was among them since demons were created by Jelf himself.
“Boom!”
Just as Hades reveled in his triumph, an explosion occurred and he felt an emptiness as if his body had been hollowed out—he had to stop summoning demons.
“What’s happening?”
“It seems Haru and the others successfully destroyed that Demon Heart’s magic; now they have no magical support left! We just need to deal with these things in front of us and then beat our former President once more to resolve this issue.”
Newton sighed in relief; this time had indeed been dangerous—the outcome could have led to total annihilation—but at least now Fairy Tail had won.
“How do you know about Demon Heart?”
Hades was genuinely feeling cornered because this battle had been incredibly frustrating—it almost led to total defeat for him.
“You don’t need to worry about us! Hades, I suggest you surrender quietly; honestly beating up an old man makes us feel bad too.”
Newton smugly took advantage of the situation which infuriated Hades further.
“Don’t get too cocky! I still have demons…”
Hades froze because all the demons he summoned had been shattered without him realizing it while Kildas casually blew on his fist looking quite smug about it.
“Oh dear, sorry! Your demons were just too weak.”
How strong was Kildas? Very strong; his shattering magic could easily destroy an entire street—but he rarely fought against people especially in front of Guild members because he thought it would be too bloody for his juniors to witness. However against non-humans like demons he didn’t hold back at all—the demons were completely wiped out.
Newton laughed as he reclined in his chair; now there was no doubt left… Just as he thought he could finally relax, alarms blared again.
“Warning! High-energy reaction detected! Recommended response: Evacuate!”
