On the morning of the twenty-first, Chou appeared at the entrance, where countless people were seen carrying their fallen companions, while piles of gold and silver lay scattered on the ground nearby.
Seeing Chou emerge, everyone looked at him with resentment and fear.
"Hey? Didn't I tell you to take whatever you want? Why aren't you taking it?"
Chou grabbed a handful of gold and silver from the cart and tossed it towards the crowd. Everyone recoiled in terror, as if what he threw were not treasures but bombs ready to explode.
"My lord, we know we were wrong. Please forgive us."
One person gritted his teeth and waved his hand, prompting several others to push carts forward, each laden with varying amounts of wealth.
"My lord, this is just a small token of our sincerity. We hope you will accept it."
"Mu, just distribute these things as you see fit. Leave them a share."
Newton smirked; he had hoped to eliminate a few more of them but was surprised by how sensible they were. Well, he decided to let them off this time.
"Yes, my lord."
Mu nodded excitedly and began distributing the money. Chou couldn't be bothered to watch and returned to his room. At that moment, Jiang had already come back.
"You're back. How did the arrangements go?"
"Everything is set up around the area."
Jiang then pulled up an image depicting the scene of Wolf Island.
"Hmm? The second exam has begun? What is it about?"
They had already landed on the island yesterday, and both Sting and Reby were among the first to arrive. However, it seemed that these two had not yet completed their exam.
"Yes, Lord Sting found a path without S-Class Mage guards, but they got stuck because they need to battle others first. Sister Reby, I ran into you, but to avoid drawing too much attention from others, I delayed a little."
"Well then, let me see how their exam is going."
The scene shifted to Wolf Island, where the remaining participants had chosen their paths, some of which were quite unexpected.
Natsu and Haru encountered Laxus, and Natsu nearly got himself killed while Haru's hair stood on end from the electric shocks.
Gray and Rocky faced off against Gajeel and Lily. It was a fairly even match. Gray's ice magic showcased a variety of techniques, while Rocky's light magic and martial arts were equally formidable. On Gajeel's side, however, Lily was somewhat limited due to the restricted transformation time here. Newton didn't have high hopes for Gajeel's team; as long as they could drag out the time, Gray's chances of winning would be significantly higher.
Lucy and Kana ran into Kildas, a combination that nearly made Newton laugh out loud—Idiot Dad and his daughter were quite the sight.
Zhubian and Lisanna faced a tragic fate when they encountered Erza. While Erza cared for her Guild members, she certainly wouldn't go easy on them; Newton could already imagine how this matchup would end.
Elfman found himself up against Evangeline and Miraj. This pairing was tough; after all, Miraj was the older sister, so she would likely hold back a bit.
Sting's team ended up facing Mest. This matchup left Newton puzzled; Mest was a spy, and Sting seemed to carry some guilt towards the Guild members. It was likely that neither would fully unleash their power in battle.
In fact, the outcomes of the fights aligned closely with Newton's predictions. Kildas had fully embraced his role as a father figure, exuding an aura of authority that made the air around him feel almost solid with his terrifying magical power. This experience gave Kana a clear understanding of the strength of an S-Class mage. However, Kana showed no signs of backing down and confronted him head-on, while Kildas naturally let them pass.
"How does it feel? Does it give you a sense that your daughter has grown up?"
Newton maneuvered his armor over to Kildas's side.
"Newton?"
Kildas looked at the armor with a hint of melancholy on his face.
"Yes, it's a bit hard to let go. I clearly saw that child before, but now it feels quite empty."
"We'll make up for it later."
Electronic smiled and offered some comfort.
"Come on, let's go take a look and see who can make it to the end."
"Bilibili!"
A bolt of lightning struck down.
"Is that Laxus? Who ran into him?"
Kildas couldn't help but mourn for the other party, then without needing Newton's response, a pillar of fire shot up.
"It seems to be Natsu. Who do you think will win?"
"Natsu, I guess."
Newton shrugged.
"After all, Laxus can't really go all out against Natsu, but I'm worried if Natsu gets distracted. If he insists on having a showdown with Laxus, then it's over."
"What about the others?"
"I let Reby go, Sting defeated Mest, Gajeel is still fighting, but it doesn't look good. Lily has already transformed back into cat form. Zhubian... encountered Erza. Elfman... he kissed Evangeline, and Miraj is currently pondering what to name the child..."
"Puhahahahaha!"
Kildas burst into laughter, "A child? This is quite something."
"Alright, let's go. They've already gathered."
The first phase of the exam was quickly completed, and those who passed arrived at the makeshift camp.
"Isaac..."
Miraj approached Newton.
"That Elfman, he wants to marry Evangeline? What should we do? What do we need to prepare?"
"Calm down, Mira. That's just messing with your thoughts. Of course, if they really want to get married, we should plan it out well when we get back."
Newton comforted Miraj with a wry smile.
"By the way, is everything okay on your end?"
Miraj was concerned about whether Newton had any issues.
"Everything's fine; it's all been taken care of. It just seems like I won't be able to make it in time. I'll wait for you at the Guild."
"Doo doo... High energy reaction, high energy reaction..."
Ginger suddenly sounded an alarm.
"Ginger, what's going on?"
Newton's eyes showed some urgency. A high energy reaction? That was Wolf Island, Fairy Tail Sanctuary!
"A powerful magical reaction, unlike anything in the database."
Jiang's response darkened Newton's expression.
"What's wrong, Isaac? Is something happening?"
Miraj was quite worried.
"Yes, it's nothing. I'll go take a look. After all, this is just armor; I’ll scout ahead."
With that, Newton flew out, while he instructed Jiang to send over the remaining armor from his research lab.
"First, let's assess the situation. Jiang, keep one set of the fastest armor ready. If anything goes wrong, I need to get there as quickly as possible."
"Understood, sir..."
"Just don't let anything happen..."
