"Newton, the new S-Class level exam is about to start. You, Miraj, and Erza should come over as examiners," Makarov said, leaving Newton momentarily stunned before he sighed.

"Well, Natsu and Gray will definitely be among them. Who else?"
"Kildas recommended Kana, and Reby is also about ready. Elfman can join too. Do you have any recommendations?"
Makarov had mostly chosen those who were strong but still below the S-Class level in Fairy Tail, and Newton had no objections to these choices. As for his own recommendations...
"What about Gajeel and Zhubian? Although they came from Specter, their strength is already comparable to Natsu's group. If possible, let them participate in the exam as well."
Newton didn't underestimate these two just because they were once part of Specter; instead, he thought it would be great for them to become S-Class.
"Alright, then the candidate list for this S-Class exam is set."
Makarov added the two to the list.
"There's one more person. Should we add them too?"
Makarov took out a piece of paper, which had a photo of a crew cut on it.

Soon, everyone began to choose their partners. Natsu picked Haru without a second thought; it was no surprise since the duo of a boy and his cat was inseparable. Similarly, Gajeel chose his partner, Lily. The rest of the group saw Rocky running out on his own, seemingly ready as Gray had already prepared. Kana and Lucy also appeared to be set, forming a partnership together. Sting found his companion from the Thunder God Clan, Bigusro, as his partner. Evangeline seemed a bit upset that she wasn't chosen and sulked over to Elfman. Lisanna took the initiative to team up with Zhubian, while Reby and Mest both approached Wendy.
It made sense, really. Wendy, the Sky Eater Dragon Mage, had formidable supplementary magic that could elevate their status significantly.
Initially, one might think that girls would have an advantage in such situations, but when Mest revealed he was a disciple of Mister Gang, Wendy agreed to his request.
Reby felt disheartened; compared to these individuals, she felt she lacked any real advantage.
"Jiang, temporarily grant permissions to Reby."
After all, Reby often studied alongside Newton, who didn't want her to lose before even stepping into the arena. With a wealth of knowledge backing her up, Reby's ancient text magic could unleash powers that would astonish everyone.
"President, is that alright?"
Someone asked this question since the requirement was for a Fairy Tail Mage. However, Newton was merely an object—well, a tool—and not even considered a person. Therefore, Makarov didn't mind too much; after all, tools could be seen as a form of strength. Yet Makarov insisted that Reby couldn't find a partner anymore, which didn't really matter at this point.
Just as everyone was preparing intensely for the upcoming challenge, Newton received news from the Dark Guild.
