"Fire!"
Newton's words filled the king with unease, prompting him to instinctively order those around him to attack Newton.
However, the surrounding stone walls had already risen, blocking all attacks.
"Can you really bring yourself to harm your former subordinates? If not, then go out and help, or see if there's anything you can do. I can handle this alone."
Newton glanced at Erza.
"It's fine; I won't hold back."
Erza tightened her grip on the Ten Commandments Spear, a determined look on her face.
"But if possible, please try not to be too harsh, as we might need these soldiers later."
They had discussed this last night; the king's abdication was necessary, but who would succeed him was crucial.
Gerard thought about selecting someone from the Kingdom Army, but both Erza and Jabir opposed this. Everyone knew what kind of people were in the Kingdom Army. If anyone could be considered wise, it would be Transcender Lili. However, if magic were to be nullified, a Transcender would surely be sent to Aslant and would never sit on that throne. In the end, after much persuasion, they decided to support Gerard as the new king.
"Well then, I should have prepared some sleeping gas."
Newton glanced at the people around him with a smirk. It would have been much simpler to just use sleeping gas and ensure no one died.
In truth, the Kingdom Army was also troubled by the situation. The area was too cramped; it was originally a site for launching the Dragon Lock Cannon. Not large by any means, some massive devices took up enough space as it was. In such a confined space, agile fighters like Newton and Erza could hardly face all their enemies at once; they could only confront one or two at a time. As a result, these soldiers were being overwhelmed by just two individuals, especially Erza, who had already made quite a name for herself in the king's army. Some soldiers even defected upon witnessing Erza's rampage, leading to chaos as soldiers began fighting among themselves.
"Boom!"
"Everyone, stop!"
An Iron Dragon suddenly appeared before Newton and Erza.
"That's the Iron Dragon Knight."
Erza gasped; that could be the pinnacle of technology in the entire kingdom.
"Oh? Was that also created by Jabir?"
Newton felt that if Jabir were to return at this moment in armor, it would be like watching a blockbuster unfold right before their eyes.
"No, it should be that they stole Jabir's technology and developed it themselves."
Well, this statement only reinforced Newton's belief that this was definitely a scene straight out of a movie. Author, you might end up in a dark room for this!
The soldiers hurriedly began to flee; the destructive power of this thing was simply too great. A single movement could injure a whole crowd.
Newton, however, didn't care. After all, the deaths of people here had nothing to do with him. Although he wasn't particularly skilled, he thought dismantling a Gundam with his bare hands sounded quite thrilling.
"Die!"
Since it was a mech, rocket launchers were a must. Missiles emerged from the shoulders of the giant dragon's armor and shot toward Newton.
"Oh, so you're also part of the RPG Cult."
Newton chuckled lightly.
"However, my RPG power is even greater now."
Newton's Mechanical Arm had already been modified; in addition to the Energy Source, it was equipped with various weapons crafted by Jabir.
A bright light flashed at the center of his palm, and a laser beam swept across indiscriminately, obliterating all the missiles in the air.
He then aimed his palm at the Iron Dragon and fired the laser again.
However, to his surprise, the Iron Dragon's jumping ability was unexpectedly good; it leaped as if it were flying.
"Hah, having no aerial maneuverability means jumping into the air only makes you a target."
Lasers and missiles filled the battlefield like a scene from a modern technological war, and the Iron Dragon was engulfed in a sea of explosions.
"Heart, this thing is definitely not that simple."
Even Erza found herself unable to intervene in this battle; the intense explosions left nothing but chaos in their wake.
"I'll leave this to you. I'm going to check on Jabir to see if everything is alright."
Most of the soldiers had fled, and there was no point for Erza to stay behind. She decided to head to the Beast Pen to find Jabir.
At this moment, Erza's presence was indeed unnecessary, so Newton had no objections to her departure. However, both of them seemed to have forgotten one thing: there was still a Kingdom Army officer present—Shus was still on site.
"Boom!"
Unexpectedly, Newton was taken aback; he never imagined that this overlooked individual would play such an incredible role.
Shus was not particularly strong. His magic wand had the ability to manipulate everything, but in reality, most of its power was confined to the amusement park. Here, his capabilities were truly limited. However, even with those limitations, once he did manage to exert his influence, it could be terrifying.
At that moment, Shus was just like that—still seemingly useless, yet the Dragon Lock Cannon had been activated.
"Things have escalated."
Newton initially thought the key had been destroyed and that there were no Mages around to create another one. He hadn’t paid much attention to it until now, realizing that the king had intentionally led him away. Every attack had skillfully avoided the Dragon Lock Cannon.
"I've been tricked."
By the time Newton recognized something was wrong, it was too late. The entire Magic Crystal's Floating Island had begun to accelerate slowly.
"Hahaha, it's useless! Everything you do is meaningless! In the end, I will obtain boundless magical power!"
The king boasted triumphantly.
"Is that so? Then what if I just kill you directly?"
Newton sighed, his gaze turning cold. He raised his hand and fired a missile at Shus, who fell amidst the explosion, engulfed in darkness.
"Hah, have you let your anger cloud your judgment?"
The king looked at Newton with disdain.
"Do you know? Fighting in a mech against an Alchemist is a foolish act, especially with the elements here that I am thoroughly familiar with."
Newton grasped Iron Dragon with one hand. Steel upon steel—he smirked coldly as one of Iron Dragon's legs began to contort into an unnatural shape.
"What’s going on?"
"I was planning to have some fun with you, but since you’re so unappreciative, I’ll just deal with you here."
Newton shook his head. The deformed Iron Dragon could no longer jump. Newton shot down missile after missile, and the entire Iron Dragon transformed into a steel cage, locking the king inside.
"Next up is the Dragon Lock Cannon."
Newton began attempting to reverse the movement direction of the Dragon Lock Cannon. The Magic Crystal Floating Island had already been accelerated; simply destroying the Dragon Lock Cannon would still send the Floating Island crashing towards the Transcender's island, so he needed to hold the Floating Island back.
"Boom!"
However, what made Newton's expression even worse was that another missile had completely destroyed the control device of the Dragon Lock Cannon.
"Tsk, wasn’t there only one…"
Newton turned around to see a large number of Iron Dragons appearing in front of him, gathering like an army.
"But for me, those elements I know are utterly useless!"
