"Combining magic and science?"
Newton was utterly bewildered. These two things were completely different realms, weren't they? Moreover, anything that magic could accomplish could also be achieved through science, right? And as for things that science couldn't do, Newton certainly couldn't do them either. Did the other party want to resurrect someone? But that didn't make sense; they shouldn't know he had the ability to bring people back to life.
"Yes, follow me."
Jabir led Newton out of the room and down into the basement. Soon, they arrived at a large door filled with a scientific aura.
"Idiot, open the door."
"Yes, sir."
The silver door swung open immediately.
"Hurry up and come in."
Jabir seemed anxious as he beckoned Newton inside.
"What is this place?"
Newton was almost dumbfounded. Although he had a fondness for mysticism, he still paid attention to certain realities, like movies. He particularly enjoyed films such as Doctor Strange. Partly because he was a fan of Benedict Cumberbatch, and partly because there were indeed many mysterious elements in Marvel. He had even traveled to Tibet once, only to be regarded as a fool at that time. So the scene before him felt quite familiar; it resembled the armory from Iron Man perfectly. What made Newton feel uncomfortable was that there seemed to be no trace of magic here at all.
"Wait a minute, the cheat code you obtained isn't just Iron Man's knowledge, is it?"
"It is, but not entirely. Don't forget, I passed; I inherited the legacies of many scientists."
Jabir shrugged.
"Do you know about the Industrial Revolution, the Steam Technology Revolution, the Electric Technology Revolution, the Information Technology Revolution, and the New Technological Revolution?"
Instead of answering Newton's question directly, Jabir shifted the topic in another direction.
"What do you mean?"
Newton did not understand what the other party wanted.
"Well, the key to science and technology is energy. You can see that whether it's steam, electricity, or new technologies, they all involve energy. Iron Man is the same; without the Model Reactor he created, he would have to carry a thick power cable every time he used his armor."
"So you want me to use magic to help you create a new energy source?"
"No, to be honest with you, my condition isn't really a disease; it's an allergy, or more like a type of allergy. I can't come into contact with magic; it would cause me severe harm. That's why I've set up a Magic Filter Device here. No magic can penetrate this device and harm me. However, you might feel a bit uncomfortable; I apologize for that."
"Wait, if that's the case, then you must be the least willing person to let magic fill this world. So you... no, magic can bring over the magic from another world. If we reverse that process, could you eliminate the magic in this world?"
"Looks like you're quite sharp for someone from another world. You're right; that's exactly it. This way, this world would be more comfortable for me. To be honest, my body is already in a critical state. If this continues, I wouldn't be surprised if I just dropped dead at any moment."
Newton approached a large machine.
"Can't you shrink this down and carry it with you?"
"That's impossible."
Jabir sighed.
"Magic doesn't enter my body through my respiratory system; it enters through contact. Even just touching my skin can trigger an allergic reaction. So every time I go out, I need more than just a filter; I need a full set of protective gear."
"This feels similar to Iron Man back in the day—elements harming the body—and now you're looking for a new substitute for magic?"
Newton asked curiously.
"Or perhaps you're hoping I find a new element because the current options no longer meet your needs. Indeed, if that's the case, using my Alchemy skills could achieve that. But how can I trust you?"
Newton still did not believe the other person, even though they both came from the same place. People change over time, and Newton was skeptical that the other would always present themselves in a certain way. He was more inclined to think that the other might harbor some ill intentions.
"Well, that does leave me a bit conflicted. How can I earn your trust?"
Jabir was remarkably candid, completely unfazed by Newton's doubts.
"In this world, it's just the two of us. No matter how close others may be to us, we are the ones who truly understand each other, right?"
"Don't act like what you say has anything to do with me."
Newton let out a sigh of relief. Yes, if the other person didn't want magic, then everything he had was of no benefit to them. Everything about him was based on magic, and given Jabir's sensitivity to it, it seemed likely that learning his skills could potentially be harmful.
"So, can you help me? Of course, as a fellow countryman, I won't let you do it for free. You must be struggling with your own powers too, right? I can replicate Idiot for you. You don't need to worry about Idiot affecting you in any way; you can even change its name if you'd like. We can also share armor techniques here and frequently exchange ideas. Is there anything else you want?"
If Jabir were a businessman, he would surely be losing money.
"Alright, but do you have any other laboratories here? You wouldn't want me to create some magic that makes you uncomfortable, would you?"
"Of course! I may lack many things here, but I definitely have plenty of laboratories—actually, there are quite a few. Just let me put on my protective suit first."
Jabir donned a thick suit that resembled an astronaut's protective gear.
"Follow me."
The two entered another room that felt like stepping into an entirely different dimension, transitioning from the scientific world to a Magical World.
"What do you think? Is this laboratory acceptable?"
"Very nice."
Newton nodded and then placed one hand on the ground.
"Can I make some modifications here?"
"Of course, I would like to see what your magic is capable of."
"I believe you won't be disappointed."
Newton smiled.
"Alchemy!"
The Alchemy Array spread out on the ground, and one experimental platform after another began to rise.
"Could you also provide me with some of your books? I want to take a look at some of your research findings, as well as your own work."
Newton looked at Jabir, wanting to understand the extent of Jabir's achievements so that he could determine where to begin.
"Well then, let's start with my research and take a look at my collection."
