"You're awake?"
Newton looked at the person before him, who looked exactly like him. Was this a creation of the Gate of Truth? Was he dreaming?
"Welcome to Edras."
The man who looked just like Newton spoke, though there was one word in his language that Newton did not understand.
"Edras?"
Newton sat up.
"What does that mean?"
"Well, the world you are in is called Aslant, and we can consider ourselves your parallel world. Ahem."
The man across from him coughed a couple of times and then walked away. Newton heard the sound of water.
"Sorry, my health hasn't been great."
The man appeared refined and elegant, but it was indeed strange to see a face so similar to his own.
"I can prepare some potions for you."
Newton had many questions, but first, he wanted to ensure that the other man wouldn’t collapse mid-conversation.
"No need, it's just an old ailment. However, if you're willing to help me, perhaps I could become healthy."
The man's gaze was intense as he looked at Newton.
"Um, shouldn't we introduce ourselves first? Why am I here, and what exactly is this place called Edras?"
Newton felt a slight headache.
"Right, right, it was my oversight."
The man tapped his own head.
"Sorry, Edras is actually like your Aslant's parallel world. So when you see this version of yourself here, that's me. You might even encounter some familiar faces from your world, though there may be some differences—gender, race, personality; perhaps only the appearance remains the same."
"That's quite normal. Even in a parallel world, I wouldn't think of you as me."
Newton wasn't surprised by this; after all, a parallel world isn't a mirror world.
"And in this world, magic is a rare existence. In fact, we humans here have no magical power and cannot use magic ourselves. However, we can utilize tools to cast spells. Additionally, there is a race here called Transcenders, who possess magical abilities."
The man paused to let Newton digest the information.
"Transcenders... without magic."
Newton rubbed his forehead.
"And then..."
"You know that magic is a very convenient power. With magic, many things become quite easy. So our Your Majesty plans to steal magical power from your side. There are times when a rift opens up in your world, transforming your items into magical energy and transferring them here. This time, you got caught up in it. From what I know, this operation is quite large and aims to target several Dragon Slayer Mages."
The man's words left Newton somewhat puzzled.
"If that's the case, then it should be my Guild that’s affected. First, do they still have the ability to recover? Second, why am I unharmed?"
"The recovery is simple; they just need to return. As for you, it's naturally because of my influence."
The man smiled.
"I'm a bit thirsty after all this talking. Would you like something to drink?"
"Um, coffee."
Newton frowned. Was the other person trying to change the subject?
"Idiot, bring us a cup of coffee."
"Huh?"
Newton was startled. Were there others here?
"Sure, Master."
A being similar to the Magical Puppet appeared, holding a tray.
"Is this the Magical Puppet?"
"No, this is my masterpiece."
The man said proudly.
"Have you ever seen a Puppet with intelligence?"
"No, but I've heard of them."
Newton's words caught the man off guard.
"You must have very few friends."
The man muttered under his breath.
Newton shrugged.
"The magic from your world is truly fascinating..."
"Wait, we've had our tea. Shouldn't we get back to the matter at hand?"
"Ah, right. Because of my involvement, this complicates things. We need to start with our king's desire to acquire magical power. He doesn't want just a small amount; he intends to seize all the magic from your world in one go."
The man snapped his fingers, and a virtual screen appeared in front of the Puppet.
"You see, through my research, if the Magic Crystal collides directly with the Transcendent Kingdom, it will bring nearly infinite magical power to this world. Of course, it's only infinite in theory; the quantity is still limited. But at least during the king's lifetime, it could be considered infinite. However, this means your companions won't be able to return."
"What you've done..."
"I forgot to introduce myself. I am Jabir, the kingdom's chief scientist. Honestly, I'm quite helpless. The name Jabir is associated with the father of Alchemy, but unfortunately, I have no talent for mysticism; I prefer science instead."
Jabir's words made Newton realize something else.
"You came from there too?"
"Yes."
Jabir nodded, and Newton suddenly found himself in tears, not even aware of how much he still longed for that world.
"Can we... still go back?"
Newton's voice trembled slightly. Although he had friends, family, and love here, he still had his parents back home.
"I'm conducting research."
Jabir seemed somewhat helpless.
"Due to the presence of magic, industry isn't a problem in this world. The key issue lies in certain mineral elements; substitutes are hard to find. Right now, I've only managed to create an artificial intelligence."
"Artificial intelligence?"
Newton suddenly realized that this guy might be even more formidable than he was.
"Yes, but it stops here. You must have a Cheat Code too, right?"
Newton nodded.
"My Cheat Code has granted me the knowledge of a scientist's legacy, which is why I can achieve such results. However, energy will always be the biggest challenge."
Jabir sighed.
"I can't create a particle collider, and I don't have the kind of elements they have at Stark..."
"Magic?"
"That's another issue. My body seems incompatible with magic; what is a treasure to ordinary people feels like poison to me."
Jabir appeared somewhat resigned.
"So you..."
"Why do you still want to help the king?"
Jabir smiled.
"Of course, it's because of you. I was thinking, if there's a version of me that crossed over into this world, then wouldn't there be another person in another world? If so, it would be worth taking a gamble."
"So that's why you turned my friend into Magic Crystal?"
Seeing Newton getting angry, Jabir shrugged.
"Don't worry, I've calculated everything, and I've left a safety net. Have you met the prince?"
"The prince?"
"Yes, he should be called Mister Gang in your world, but actually, he is our prince, Gerard."
Jabir nodded.
"He's a good person who disapproves of the king's plans, which is why he went to your side to block the hole. I've also told him how to revert Magic Crystal back to its original form."
"I'll let that slide, but what do you want me to do?"
"Of course, it's the combination of magic and science."
