"Damn it, haven't you all done enough? You need to protect Wendy!" Sharlulu shouted angrily at the people around her.
Everyone fell silent, realizing the truth in her words. Even with prior knowledge of the enemy's information, they had still been caught off guard, and the morale of the alliance had taken a significant hit.
"Haru is also missing," Natsu said, worry creeping into his voice.
"And One Night too," added a member of the Azure Wind Antelope, equally concerned for their companion.
"What are we going to do next?" The group felt lost, their spirits dampened by the recent events.
"Of course, we need to rescue Haru!" Natsu clenched his fists and slammed them into the ground, anxiety etched on his face. Haru had been captured countless times before. Previously, it hadn't been too serious; the few guys from Paradise Tower weren't likely to do anything drastic. But now with the Dark Guild involved, who knew what might happen if they had a taste for cat meat?
"Not only that, but we also need to save Wendy!" The girl from Serpent Empress's Scale had been bitten by Cobra. Although Jura had administered an antidote, time was running out. The antidote could only suppress the spread of the poison; the longer they waited, the more dangerous it became.
"Alright, let's go."
Erza began to issue commands.
"However, everyone needs to pay attention from now on. Remember the information about the enemy, and do not engage carelessly. Target their weaknesses; our goal this time is to rescue people, so we must try to locate Wendy and the others!"
"To the Azure Wind Antelope team, please pilot the magic boat into the air as our communicators and observe the enemy's movements. But be careful not to get attacked."
At this moment, everyone followed Erza's lead.
"Mr. Jura, please remain on standby at all times."
The combat power of the Holy Ten level is quite important.
"Empty Priestess, we really hit the jackpot this time."
Brian looked at Wendy, whom he had captured, a smug smile spreading across his face.
"We need your help with someone. If you are indeed the Empty Priestess, then you should be able to do this—bring someone back to life for us."
"It seems the enemy has been hiding quite a bit from us."
After returning, the Six Demon Generals did not regroup with Newton and his companion but instead headed into a cave. However, they could not escape Newton and his partner's scrutiny.
"That's quite normal; it would surprise me if there were nothing hidden."
Newton adjusted his mask.
"Just resurrection? Are they also supporters of Jelf?"
So far, the only thing related to resurrection was his Alchemy technique, and now it seemed that dragons could resurrect others too?
At that moment, a black coffin was brought out by Brian from the cave, and upon opening it, there lay a familiar face.
"Mister Gang? No, this should be the legendary Gerard, right? The one who deceived the entire Magic Council."
Laxus curiously looked at the person across from him, as this guy seemed quite powerful according to rumors.
"Well, it seems he really isn't dead."
Newton was curious about where these people had found Gerard and felt a sense of relief. He had thought Gerard was truly dead, but seeing the slight rise and fall of his chest suggested he was merely in a state of heavy injury or death-like slumber. Recently learning about such matters made Newton feel that resurrection was becoming all too common; it seemed like nine out of ten people here possessed this kind of ability.
"No! Wendy! We absolutely cannot resurrect him..."
Haru knew the danger Gerard posed. After all, during various adventures, he and Natsu were often on the front lines of battle.
"Get away!"
Brian suddenly grabbed Haru, and the immense strength made it impossible for a cat to withstand. Haru felt as if his head was about to be crushed.
"Save him."
Newton suddenly spoke up.
"Aren't we waiting any longer?"
Laxus asked curiously, considering that just moments ago, when Wendy or the Serpent Empress's Scale were attacked, Newton hadn't intervened.
"If we wait any longer, Haru will really become a dead cat."
Newton rolled his eyes, and the two rushed in.
Laxus unleashed a bolt of lightning towards Brian, who cast a spell to block it. However, the pain from gripping Haru's hand forced him to release his hold, and then Haru found himself in Newton's arms.
"Who are you?"
Haru was quite happy to finally have a rescuer come to save him.
The members of the Six Demon Generals became alert.
"You really do have some plans."
Brian and the Six Demon Generals blocked the entrance, ensuring that no one could escape.
"Of course, we never expected you to want to resurrect Gerard," Newton shot back without hesitation.
"Do you want to stop us?"
Brian and the others were already prepared to cast their spells.
"No, I actually hope you can resurrect Gerard."
Everyone except Laxus was surprised, unable to understand what Newton was thinking.
"Then why are you making a move now?"
Brian tried to keep himself in check.
"Because you’re abusing cats!"
Newton stated matter-of-factly.
"Cats are so adorable; why would anyone want to mistreat them?"
Everyone's face was filled with disbelief. Brian had a deep understanding that the guy in front of him was completely irrational, his thought process unlike anyone else's, making it impossible to predict his actions. Was he really reacting just because Brian had mistreated a cat moments ago? This was absurd.
Initially, Brian had indeed intended to test whether Newton had any connection to the Regular Guild. He was aware of Newton's surveillance but chose to ignore it. However, the other party showed no intention of stopping him. Well, they did try to intervene, but only because they liked cats? Brian found that hard to believe.
"Alright then, Sky Priestess, please revive this fellow quickly."
Brian gave up on confronting Newton and turned to Wendy. As long as Gerard was revived along with Nirvana, nothing could stand in their way.
"No..."
Haru hadn't finished speaking when Newton covered her mouth with a fish.
"Don't talk while eating or sleeping. Even though you're a cat, you should still be polite."
Although Haru loved fish, this wasn't the time for eating. She tried to spit out the fish, but Newton held her down firmly while Wendy approached Gerard.
"I... I can do it, just for this person."
Wendy's warm magic surged forth as Gerard slowly opened his eyes.
