"This is the information from the Regular Guild? Quite detailed."
Brian looked at the intel Newton had handed him, which contained information about everyone involved in this operation. Of course, some details were deliberately obscured, such as those who could communicate telepathically and Leo's abilities, which were merely that of an ordinary Ice Mage. However, only minor adjustments could be made; after all, the celebrity effect was in play— the more famous a Mage was, the more the Dark Guild would know about them.
For instance, well-known figures like the Fire Dragon, Fairy Queen, Holy Ten, and the magical vessel of the Azure Wind Antelope were difficult to conceal.
However, Newton had hidden information about Lucy, who was also a Celestial Spirit Mage and possessed keys to the Zodiac. There were also some details regarding Miraj. Over the years, Miraj had mostly remained stationed at the Guild, rarely going on missions. As a result, not many people knew much about this long-renowned Demon Mira, who had become somewhat of a forgotten Mage.
A slight advantage could be expanded upon; once it reached a certain level, it could turn into a decisive victory. When one's momentum overwhelmed the opponent, it became easy to push through.
"What do you think of this intel?"
Although Brian was nominally the leader of the Six Demons, there was no strict hierarchy among the Six Demon Generals. With six individuals present, including one who slept most of the time, discussions moved quickly.
"I haven't heard anything unusual," Kebula shook his head. Besides being a Dragon Slayer Mage, he had excellent hearing— so good that he could listen to others' thoughts. This ability allowed him to often predict his opponents' next moves during battles. This time, aside from necessary surveillance, Kebula had been observing Newton and Laxus throughout.
The overwhelming killing intent emanating from Laxus was nearly useless— it was either raging thunder or nothing at all. However, Newton's situation was peculiar; it seemed as if he welcomed anyone to listen to his thoughts without any concealment, yet what he received in return was nothingness.
But how could he say this? Lisa had been ridiculed for her comments earlier. If she spoke up now, it would only make her seem ineffective. Moreover, since Newton hadn't displayed any remarkable strength, Kebula thought that even if the other party were contemplating something significant, it wouldn't matter.
"Is that so? Then let's take a look at this intel."
Seeing that Kebula had nothing substantial to report, Brian decided to move past that issue and focus on the intel instead.
"This information is quite detailed. It's clear that this guy has an insider in the Regular Guild, but I suspect there's something being concealed here."
As the one managing finances, Hetei usually oversaw intelligence as well; after all, in certain contexts, information equated to money.
"Concealment is certain. Although this guy seems like he's part of the Dark Guild, their last operation against Fairy Tail was more comedic than destructive. If they wanted to demonstrate their power, wouldn't it have been better to just blow up Fairy Tail? Yet they didn't do that. This time too— if they were truly from the Regular Guild, they would have brought their members along. Even we would have found it troublesome if they did so. But they haven't; they were brought in by the Naked Bandage Man. Aside from these two individuals, we have no idea who else is involved. This is a rather mysterious organization— unknown personnel and unknown objectives. If possible, it's best not to get too entangled with these guys."
Even among the Six Demons, there was a sense of reverence towards mysterious entities; it's human nature to crave knowledge while simultaneously fearing it.
"Hetei makes a good point. So, Kebula, please keep an eye on these individuals. Angel, use your Gemini Celestial Spirit. If anything goes wrong, resolve it immediately."
"Can't we just kill these guys outright?"
Kebula was somewhat puzzled. Since they knew that the opponent likely had ill intentions, why not just kill them directly? Wouldn't that solve everything?
"No way. What if even after he's dead, he still has some tricks up his sleeve?"
This was Klein's concern. Newton's demeanor was far too brazen; even in the face of them, he showed no fear at all. His eyes reflected a calmness, a madness akin to that of a lunatic. It was as if the world could be destroyed and it wouldn't matter to him. As long as he could achieve his goals, that was enough.
But what exactly were his goals?
Klein felt like his head was about to explode, irritably tapping his staff against the ground.
"Alright, you all go prepare. We need to head over early and set up an ambush. We should try to take down Azure Wind Antelope's magic ship. If we can make it crash and eliminate a few of them right away, it will make our job much easier."
"Fine, I'll go keep an eye on those guys."
Kebula shrugged and left the meeting room.
"Is everything alright? Kebula doesn't seem like someone who can hold back," Angel yawned, sleep deprivation being a foe for women.
"It's fine; it's good to test the waters. Besides, Kebula isn't that reckless."
Though he had the pride of a strong individual, Kebula was not foolish. He didn’t charge in recklessly but instead brought out several jars of alcohol from the warehouse. He planned to use the drinks to get Newton and the others drunk in order to gather information.
"Drinking?"
Newton looked momentarily stunned before glancing at Laxus. In truth, Newton rarely drank; at Fairy Tail, he usually stuck to other beverages. Since he didn't use Alchemy Array and often crafted potions or devices himself, having steady hands was crucial. If his hands trembled, it would be quite troublesome.
Laxus, however, was different. He often drank and could liven up any gathering. Plus, Fairy Tail members were known for their wild antics; getting drunk and bickering leading to fights was common practice. Naturally, Laxus couldn't escape this culture either, so his tolerance for alcohol was quite good.
"Are you sure?"
Newton knew that when their guild members got drunk, fights were inevitable. He wondered if their opponents were accustomed to such drinking customs.
"Of course..."
One bottle... two bottles... three bottles... four delights... five stars... six paths... seven stars... eight trigrams... nine September ninth... boom!
Newton looked at the laughing Laxus and Kebula, who lay on the ground like a dead dog. With such poor alcohol tolerance, what was Kebula thinking? By the time he had downed three bottles, he was already in a daze, and soon after, he was completely unconscious. Now, Newton worried that someone from Six Demons might end up dead from alcohol poisoning.
Laxus, on the other hand, had consumed nine bottles. And what did he want to do when he got drunk? Naturally, he wanted to fight. If Newton hadn't quickly grabbed Kebula and moved aside, it was likely that someone would have been beaten to death in their drunken state.
"What’s going on?"
With such a commotion, the remaining members of Six Demons quickly arrived.
"Got drunk," Newton sighed helplessly as he handed Kebula over. Brian checked him and confirmed that he was indeed wasted. Even they were at a loss for words; what a mess this was.
"What about that guy?" Brian said, looking at the rampaging Laxus with a headache.
"Just beat him senseless. No problem; if he dies, it's on me," Newton grinned widely, causing annoyance all around.
