The final Harvest Festival turned out to be quite impressive, with the aerial displays being mistaken for fireworks by everyone. However, the name of the Dark Guild Circus still made headlines, as it dared to provoke the kingdom's top Official Guild—a bold move that not every Dark Guild would have the guts to attempt.
Not only the Dark Guild but also the Regular Guild gained notoriety for their outrageous antics, which included kidnapping everyone in the city, only for it to turn out to be a prank. But who could guarantee that these guys wouldn’t take it seriously next time? As a result, the Circus quickly found itself on the blacklist of major Guilds.
As for Laxus, his punishment was finally decided. He was sentenced to confinement and wouldn’t be allowed out until his punishment was over. The Thunder God Clan didn’t face any severe repercussions; however, Sting, feeling guilty about the whole situation, voluntarily shaved his head. Newton thought that this new look made Sting appear much younger.
Laxus sat alone in his room, bored.
“Knock knock.”
Laxus didn’t respond, but Newton pushed the door open and walked in.
“Hey, don’t you know how to knock?”
“If I didn’t, you wouldn’t have let me in anyway.”
“Fair point. So, how does it feel to be confined?”
“If you’re here to mock me, you can leave right now.”
“I’m not that free; I actually orchestrated this whole mess.”
Laxus shot Newton a glance.
“And what? You want me to thank you because I’m not getting kicked out of the Guild?”
“Exactly.”
Laxus was taken aback and stared at Newton. He had always thought that if he ever encountered someone ugly, he would tear them apart. But Newton? Suddenly, Laxus realized a lot of things.
“Let me hit you.”
"Alright."
Without thunder or magic, just the simplest of fists, Newton lay on the ground with a bruised face, while Laxus sat nearby.
"I owe you one."
"Yeah, so it's time for you to repay that debt."
Newton's words made Laxus smirk slightly. Did this guy have everything planned out?
"What’s going on?"
"We're going to pretend to be members of the Dark Guild and gather some intel on the Six Demon Generals."
"Fine."
Laxus didn't question why it had to be him; he simply agreed.
"Great, then think of a name. I'm ugly, Mister Gang is the Hypnotist; how about you go with Juggler?"
Newton seriously suggested a title for Laxus.
"Do you think I'm upset that I didn't get electrocuted just now?"
Electricity crackled around Laxus's hands.
"Hey, I was just making a suggestion. This operation is a chance to put our Circus on the map. The time for us to pay tribute to the Six Demon Generals is coming up, and if we’re going to infiltrate, we need to hide our true identities. So having a name is really important."
Newton emphasized the significance of aliases as much as he could.
"What kind of ridiculous name is Juggler? Are you just trying to make fun of me?"
Laxus unleashed a bolt of electricity, which was absorbed by Newton.
"Is it just the two of us?"
"Yes, it's just me and Mister Gang. If necessary, he will join us, but the two of us should be enough. On the other hand, since the Magic Council is not present, the old man seems prepared to lead a discussion on how to handle the recent situation. That's why I plan to leave Mira and Erza as backup."
Newton briefly shared his thoughts.
"Alright, when do we set off?"
Laxus nodded.
"I recently received news that the Dark Guild Naked Bandage Man seems to be planning a bank robbery to gather offerings. This presents us with an opportunity; we can use this connection to reach out to the Six Demon Generals."
Newton had everything arranged and was just waiting to confront the Six Demon Generals.
In the dead of night, the two set off. Aside from Makarov, Miraj, and Erza, no one knew about their departure. Laxus was confined, and Newton often vanished for months at a time, so their absence didn't raise much suspicion.
"This is Naked Bandage Man's Guild? It really looks shabby."
Laxus wasn't wearing his signature coat; instead, he donned a black suit with his hair dyed white and a mask covering his face.
"Don't be like that, musician. Our Circus isn't in much better shape. This place is actually better than ours; at least there aren't as many animals. I've complained to the beast tamer countless times; those cute creatures are just too noisy."
Newton continued his chatter, completely ignoring the stares from those around them as he and Laxus walked further inside while commenting on their surroundings.
"Who are you?"
Newton was now curious if all villains looked like this. Even the lackeys seemed to be wielding weapons like knives or spiked clubs—clearly nothing more than cannon fodder.
"Ah, how about you tell your boss about us?"
Newton was quite polite, even bowing to the questioning Lackey.
"We are the clowns and musicians of the Circus, and we are here to discuss a big business deal with your leader."
"Looking for the boss? Discussing business?"
People began to gather around, their eyes filled with malice.
"You've got some nerve coming here to talk business. Don't you know we are the Dark Guild?"
"Funny enough, we are also part of the Dark Guild, which is why we came to find you," Newton replied with a smile.
"Dark Guild? We've never even heard of that. Which Guild are you from?"
"Ah, the Circus."
"The Circus?"
Immediately, everyone burst into laughter, gasping for breath between chuckles.
"You can't be serious; you're a clown? The Circus? Do you have monkeys?"
"Monkeys? Not yet, but we could consider it," Newton maintained his politeness.
"Hey, aren't you supposed to be famous?"
Laxus grew impatient, looking at Newton. This was not how the script was supposed to go.
"This must be because their levels are not high enough."
Newton scratched his mask, feeling slightly awkward.
"How about we just charge in directly?"
"It should have been done this way long ago."
Laxus's hands crackled with lightning as he pressed them to the ground. Instantly, those around him were enveloped in a layer of paralysis, leaving them unable to resist as they screamed in agony.
"What beautiful music! Truly worthy of a musician," Newton remarked, clearly enjoying the moment.
"Stop it!"
With that, Newton knew the main figure had arrived.
