"When did you come back?"
Miraj was enjoying the meal that Newton had prepared for himself. The cooking skills were as good as ever, and Miraj was quite satisfied with it.
"Is your body okay now?"
"Yeah, my body was never really a problem."
Newton rubbed his bruised face; that punch had really hurt.
"Though that’s not certain anymore."
Miraj looked at Newton's face and couldn't help but stick out her tongue, placing her hand on his cheek.
"Alright, alright, let me massage it for you. It won't hurt."
"Are you trying to soothe a child?"
Newton replied with dissatisfaction.
"I need painkillers."
"Painkillers? Where are they? I'll go get them for you."
Miraj immediately put down her chopsticks and stood up, ready to fetch the medicine for Newton.
"No need, I'll get it myself."
Newton smirked mischievously, and Miraj immediately felt uneasy, wanting to escape. However, Newton pressed her back into her seat, capturing her lips fiercely and sucking on them passionately.
"Ugh..."
Miraj initially panicked, but then a hint of resignation flashed in her eyes as she began to respond to Newton's kiss.
"Sister Mira..."
Lisanna pushed the door open, only to be greeted by this scene. Although she knew that Newton was with her sister, witnessing such an intimate moment was rare for her, and she immediately blushed deeply.
"Bang!"
Lisanna quickly shut the door, causing the couple inside to hastily separate. In truth, Miraj pushed Newton away, while he gazed longingly at her flushed lips.
Miraj lowered her head, unable to meet Newton's gaze.
"Aren't you going to chase after your sister?"
Newton realized that this game couldn't continue any longer and decided it was best to wait until evening.
Miraj rolled her eyes, wondering who was responsible for this situation, but she quickly went out to catch up with her sister.
"Hello, brother-in-law."
When she returned, Lisanna faced Newton with a shy demeanor, still embarrassed about what had just happened.
"Well, let's sit down and eat."
Newton smiled, as if nothing had just happened.
Lisanna let out a breath and looked at Newton with curious eyes.
"Brother-in-law, did you really take a hit from Spirit Magic Power this time?"
The incident had indeed caused quite a stir, and Lisanna was very curious about it.
"Huh? What's wrong? You know about it too?"
Newton didn't think there was anything noteworthy about this; in fact, he felt that if it were his own matter, he would probably want to cover it up. After all, anything related to Jelf was better kept under wraps.
"Of course! You don't know? The Magic Council has collapsed! Now our Guild can be the leader of the Magic Realm of the Kingdom!"
Lisanna expressed her pride; after all, this was her Guild.
"Leader?"
Newton frowned. The early bird gets the worm; previously, Specter had attacked his Guild just for the title of being the top Guild. It was hard to guarantee that others wouldn't be envious of Fairy Tail now that the Magic Council had fallen.
"What happened with the Magic Council's collapse?"
"I don't know."
Lisanna shook her head, indicating that she didn't know the details either.
"All we know is that the building of the Magic Council collapsed. There are rumors that it was that woman beside Gerard who did it, apparently using some lost magic. The specifics remain unclear."
Newton nodded. If it was that woman, it made sense, but there were still some inconsistencies. Who exactly was Ultia? It should be clear that she was Uru's daughter, but what was her purpose in staying close to Gerard? Now that the Magic Council had been destroyed, what was her goal? She had never shown herself while being by Gerard's side. Newton felt perplexed and had a nagging suspicion that she hadn't fought with her full strength when they battled before. This person was either a joyful troublemaker or had grand ambitions.
Furrowing his brow in thought, Newton was unaware that Miraj stood behind him, gently smoothing out the wrinkles on his forehead with her hand.
"There will always be a way when we reach the mountain; as long as we are together, there’s no difficulty we can’t overcome."
Newton turned to look at Miraj, feeling her softness as he rubbed his cheek against his hand.
"You’re right. Even though I don’t know what she wants, sooner or later, her true intentions will be revealed."
"Hey, hey! No need for the mushy stuff!"
Lisanna shook her arm dramatically, expressing that she was getting goosebumps.
Newton shot her a sideways glance, thinking to himself that tonight she would truly understand what real heartache felt like.
Later that night, Newton removed the soundproof magic circle from his room.
One sleepless night...
Lisanna sat in the living room with dark circles under her eyes, glaring at Newton. Miraj still hadn’t come down.
"Hey, what's wrong? Did you not sleep well last night? Do you want me to mix up some sleeping pills for you?"
Newton teased as he looked at the other person.
"Hmph."
Lisanna treated the bread in her hand like it was Newton, biting into it fiercely. After finishing the bread, she stormed out, slamming the door behind her.
At that moment, Miraj lazily walked down and watched her sister leave in a huff. She then approached Newton and playfully twisted his waist.
"Ouch! I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" Newton quickly laughed nervously.
"Hmph, what did you do wrong?" Miraj asked discontentedly as she sat down to eat breakfast.
Newton hurriedly stood behind Miraj, giving her a shoulder massage.
"I shouldn't have bullied our sister."
"You really are something else, always picking on Lisanna. Can't you just let her be?" Miraj replied with annoyance.
"How could it be? Just looking at that cute child makes one unable to resist wanting to tease them a bit."
Newton revealed a mischievous smile.
"Lisanna, having you as a brother-in-law is quite unfortunate."
Miraj couldn't help but feel sorry for her sister.
"But I'm really happy."
Newton smiled quite joyfully.
"Are you going to the Guild? Erza and the others should be back soon, right?"
"Yeah, they should be back soon. But I want to stop by the Guild first to see if there's any news."
Newton didn't plan to head back to the Guild just yet; he wanted to check on the latest information first.
"Alright, then I'll head straight to the Guild. You should come over early too."
After finishing their meal, Miraj and Newton left together, each heading towards their respective destinations at the Guild.
