"What is... happening?"
Erza looked in astonishment at the massive Magic Crystal revealed after the destruction of Paradise Tower.
"I see, it's the Magic Crystal."
Newton, however, seemed unfazed by the revelation. Instead, he appeared somewhat enlightened as he gazed at Gerard.
"This is your goal, isn't it? The concept of two point seven billion magic power. Reviving a person is indeed exceedingly difficult, but with this two point seven billion magic power, your plan can truly succeed, right?"
"Clap, clap, clap."
Gerard applauded, admiring Newton.
"Just as expected from you, Newton. You're quite perceptive. It's a pity that you've only discovered this little detail. But unfortunately, with the magic power in place, the spell completed, and the vessel ready, the greatest Dark Mage, Jelf, is about to be revived!"
Gerard's demeanor was extremely fervent.
"Newton, you can't bring the dead back to life, but I can!"
Gerard pointed a hand at Erza, and a black serpentine pattern appeared behind her, swiftly crawling up her entire body.
Erza immediately felt herself losing control over her body, accompanied by intense pain.
"As long as we merge this two point seven billion magic power with Erza's body, she will be disassembled and then reassembled into Jelf's body."
"What about the soul?"
However, Newton remained remarkably calm. Discussing Human Transmutation with an Alchemist? All he could do was chuckle.
"I know the composition of the human body better than you do. You don't even need a human body as a sacrifice; just some basic elements of Human Transmutation will suffice. But bringing someone back to life is not that simple. A mere body is not enough. Have you considered the issue of the soul? A body without a soul is nothing but a walking corpse."
Newton placed his hand on Erza's back, and the black serpentine patterns were directly disintegrated.
"Just because you didn't bring out all your strength against Zigrein, does that mean I have revealed all my power?"
Newton had quite a few tricks up his sleeve; there was no way he could fit everything into his bag. Much of it was hidden in the pockets of his clothing.
"Newton, I..."
Erza accepted the potion Newton handed her and felt much better after drinking it.
"Alright, although this guy has some connection with you, and I don't believe he can truly achieve resurrection, it's still not suitable for you to continue fighting him. You won't be able to go through with it."
"I..."
Erza collapsed onto the ground, crying as she looked at Newton.
"Newton, please help me..."
Newton fell silent, watching Erza's tears as he wiped them away.
"Transmute."
A translucent substance resembling a pearl appeared in Newton's hand.
"I've received the reward."
"Ridiculous, you can't possibly be my opponent!"
Gerard laughed wildly.
"If there are two of us, I believe Jelf would be quite pleased!"
"Honestly, how can you not listen? Reviving isn't as simple as you think."
Newton scratched his head, and a wall suddenly appeared beside him, causing Gerard to crash into it.
"I admit my close combat skills are weak, but what if I intentionally let others know that? What if I'm just feigning weakness?"
Newton now wielded his Alchemy skills like a form of shape magic; the fabric on him ignited with a spark and soon blazed into a roaring fire in his hands.
"This igniting cloth was hard to come by; let's have a barbecue."
"Useless. Your flames are indeed impressive, but they are still just ordinary flames. They won't affect my magically enhanced body at all!"
As a result, only Gerard's outer coat was burned away, revealing the magical gear underneath.
"Body Magic, Meteor!"
A surge of magical energy surrounded Gerard, increasing his speed several levels. However, Newton reacted even faster; he grabbed a Magic Crystal in his hand, channeling its terrifying magical power directly into his flames.
"Fire Wall!"
The flames infused with Spirit Magic Power stood before Gerard, who dared not rush into them. The flames, rich in magical energy, surpassed the level of ordinary fire, forcing him to evade.
However, Newton's reaction speed was certainly not slower than Gerard's. With just a thought, the flames transformed once more, encircling Gerard like a fire dragon, pursuing and blocking his path.
"Seven Star Sword!"
Seven attacks, resembling shooting stars, effortlessly tore through Newton's fire dragon. Yet, the igniting cloth on Newton could catch fire with just a brush, and the surrounding Spirit Magic Power was inexhaustible. Newton was far from being at a disadvantage; if it came down to consumption, he was ready for it.
"Seven Star Sword!"
Another powerful attack followed, but this time Gerard charged in alongside it. With the Seven Star Sword leading the way and meteors trailing behind him, Gerard swiftly closed the distance to Newton. But Newton retaliated with a punch.
"As an Alchemist, my close combat skills are indeed weak. However, as an Alchemist of good quality, I always test my potions on myself first. So my body is no slouch."
Newton had many trump cards—quite a few, in fact. From the very beginning of the battle, he had never fought at full strength, not even this time.
"Damn it! Dark Paradise!"
A complex magic circle appeared in Gerard's hand as a massive black sphere materialized before Newton.
"How pathetic; such ominous magic."
Newton coldly observed everything before him as he continuously switched out Magic Crystals in his hands. One fireball after another flew toward the black sphere, constantly countering Gerard's magic.
"Explode!"
Gerard roared in anger, but Newton refused to back down. The fireballs and black sphere split the entire scene in two.
"Are you okay?"
Newton stood in front of Erza, shielding her from the blast of air caused by the explosions.
"I'm fine. What about Gerard?" Erza asked anxiously.
"It's truly heartbreaking. I came here to stop this attack for you, yet you're still thinking about your childhood friend. Aren't you supposed to be taking down your childhood friend?" Newton feigned sadness.
"Huh?" Erza looked at Newton, bewildered.
"Forget it, forget it. Are you not coming out? If not, we're leaving," Newton said helplessly, glancing over at Gerard, who was equally battered and wore a face full of resentment.
"Why are you stopping me? I just want to establish a free kingdom! I am the chosen one; I heard Jelf's whispers!" Gerard nearly screamed, his face twisted with madness as he glared at Newton.
"I don't care what you want to do; I couldn't be bothered to stop you. Reviving Jelf or causing trouble—do as you please. But who gave you the right to lay a hand on my friends? You can do whatever you want in this world, but you will not touch my friends!" Newton declared fiercely. The Magic Crystals around him began to form into a prosthetic limb, and terrifying magical energy surged forth, causing the entire Paradise Tower to tremble. Countless Magic Crystals started to riot, forming a massive arm made of Magic Crystals in the air.
“Purgatory Shatter!”
Gerard immediately unleashed his strongest magic, but when his size grew to a certain extent, it became something that ordinary people could not contend with. Gerard’s magic was like an ant before the terrifying arm, easily swatted away.
At that moment, Newton was convulsing all over, forcibly using Spirit Magic Power. It was far more troublesome than he had imagined; he felt as if his entire body was being torn apart.
“Newton, we…”
Erza’s words were cut short as Newton waved his hand, forming a glider made of Magic Crystal that carried Erza away. Newton then found himself in a familiar place.
“It really is familiar.”
In his inner world, he felt quite comfortable as he gazed at the large door before him.
“Let’s make a trade. I want to exchange one of my legs for the knowledge of the Territory Alchemy Array…”
Meanwhile, outside, Erza was sent out by Newton.
“Erza! Where’s Isaac?”
Miraj flew into the air to catch Erza, but why was Newton missing? At that moment, due to the recent battle, the entire Paradise Tower was on the verge of collapse, and the Spirit Magic Power was beginning to go berserk.
“He’s still inside.”
Erza was completely stunned, unable to look at Miraj.
However, Miraj remained remarkably calm.
"I believe Isaac won't die so easily."
Though Miraj appeared calm, Erza could feel Miraj's hand trembling as she held onto her.
As everyone watched Paradise Tower collapse, bracing for the terrifying explosion of Magic Power, the Magic Power suddenly vanished. Yes, it simply disappeared in a remarkably calm manner, leaving everyone dumbfounded at the scene before them.
"What’s wrong with you all? Are you welcoming me?"
Newton's lazy voice broke the silence, and everyone turned to see him floating on the surface of the sea, clutching a piece of wood.
"Isaac!"
Miraj flew over immediately.
"Don't worry, don't worry. I'm fine," Newton said with a smile, discreetly glancing at his remaining leg and the crimson stone on his thumb.
