"Ha..."
A towel was placed over Newton's face, and the warm hot spring had turned his skin a bright red. However, this sensation made Newton feel incredibly relaxed. The Mechanical Arm had an additional waterproof coating applied to it, preventing the risk of rust.
"Hot springs really are enjoyable."
In his previous life, Newton loved to wander in the wild. Besides discovering some ruins, he could find things that were not visible in the city, much like an adventure in the wilderness.
"Hiss!"
A chill suddenly hit Newton's face, causing him to shiver involuntarily. He opened his eyes and glared at Miraj, reaching out to tickle her at the waist.
"Hey, hey! If you spill it, it'll be even colder than before."
Miraj couldn't help but burst into laughter, holding two bottles of milk and trying her best not to spill any.
"It's fine; if you spill it, you'll get splashed too."
Newton declared himself unafraid.
"Alright, alright! I give up, I give up."
Miraj quickly surrendered, realizing that if they continued messing around, she would truly lose control of the milk.
"Hmph! Let's see if you dare next time."
Newton triumphantly took the milk from Miraj's hands.
"Ah, after a hot spring soak, milk really is the best."
"Of course."
Miraj sat beside Newton, took a sip of her milk, and then looked at him.
“Do you want to go out for a stroll later?”
“Sure.”
The tickets for the hot spring that Zigrein provided were quite sought after, and due to the hot springs, the mages in this city weren't particularly strong. The key development here was tourism, with local products and stalls doing quite well.
Since it wasn't a battle, Newton and Miraj stepped out wearing their yukatas. Miraj held onto one of Newton's arms, leaning against him.
“Boss, I want an ice cream.”
Newton bought an ice cream. It was a typical couple's activity; first, he let Miraj have a lick, then he took a lick himself.
“Isaac, I want that one!”
Miraj pointed excitedly at a shooting stall where a doll looked strikingly similar to her demon form.
“Okay.”
Newton affectionately ruffled Miraj's hair.
“Boss, give me ten bullets.”
Newton paid and raised the gun to aim at the doll.
“Come on, you can do it.”
Boss offered an insincere encouragement. In reality, these games often had tricks; either the barrel wasn't straight, or there was double-sided tape on the base, or the center of gravity was deliberately adjusted—similar to claw machines. So Boss wasn't worried about Newton winning that doll. His insincerity stemmed from a bit of malice; after all, who could blame him for feeling a bit burned seeing Newton with such a stunning girl?
Newton smirked slightly. Although he had lived alone in his past life, when a cold man became gentle, it truly felt warm. It all depended on whether he could find a woman willing to let him melt.
He took his shot, but the bullet merely grazed the doll and flew past it.
A smug smile appeared on Boss's face.
"Well, the barrel has been modified."
Newton confirmed a point, then made adjustments before firing a shot at the doll's forehead. However, the doll merely swayed slightly and showed no signs of falling.
"You modified the barrel, added double-sided tape, and even made the doll sit down to lower its center of gravity. Boss, that's a bit much."
Newton smirked; this cheating was getting out of hand.
Never mind.
Shaking his head, Newton quickly fired again. The remaining eight bullets seemed to be fired simultaneously, each hitting the same spot on the doll, which naturally caused it to topple over.
"Wait, are you a Mage?"
The Boss looked helpless.
"Don't worry, Boss. I didn't use any magic; it was just extremely fast shooting. Besides, I'm not planning to report you. But come on, being this greedy? Aren't you afraid someone with a bad temper might take you out?"
As a head of business, Newton certainly wouldn't expose another merchant's schemes, but excessive greed was unacceptable.
"Haha, it's just those few expensive ones."
The Boss appeared embarrassed, his face tense. Although getting caught would only result in a fine, damaging his reputation would be a much bigger loss.
"At least leave something for others to think about; you need bait for the fish to bite."
Newton watched as the Boss picked up the doll and patted him on the shoulder before turning to hand the doll to Miraj.
"Boss, I want ten shots too!"
To Newton's surprise, Miraj also wanted to try this out.
"Hey?"
Boss frowned and then looked at Miraj. In his mind, since the other party came with Newton, they should both be Mages and quite strong. So it would be better to just give the item to them.
"Which one do you like?"
"Um, that one!"
Miraj pointed to a doll that resembled a flask.
"You can have it for the price of ten bullets."
Naturally, Miraj handed over the money. Without using magic, Miraj really didn't have much confidence in being able to shoot successfully.
"Here."
Miraj handed the doll to Newton, and the two happily walked down the street, each holding a doll.
Along the way, they enjoyed cotton candy, chocolate bananas, Takoyaki, pancakes, Taiyaki, and goldfish scooping—almost buying and playing with something at every turn.
"Hey, Nir! You look pretty cute. Come play with us! We can show you a good time."
Well, it's common for the female lead to be teased in such scenarios.
Newton couldn't help but feel exasperated at this scene because both of his hands were already full.
"Oh, but my boyfriend is right over there."
Miraj pointed at Newton beside her.
"No, I think I'm just a moving shelf right now."
He silently complained in his heart. It was indeed true; if Miraj hadn't pointed it out, this group of ruffians might not have even noticed that there was someone standing next to them.
"Hmph, kid, I'll borrow your girlfriend..."
"Bang!"
Although Newton's hands were captured, his feet were still free. He kicked the opponent away, sending them crashing into several people along the way.
"Who is it!"
"What the hell!"
"What are you looking at!"
Newton frowned.
"Alchemy!"
Countless earthen walls sprang up, separating everyone present and trapping them inside. Then, he pulled Miraj along.
"Run!"
The two quickly fled the scene, leaving chaos in their wake.
