"Are you awake?"
As Lucy opened her eyes, she immediately saw Newton sitting in the room, engrossed in a book. Instinctively, she tightened her grip on the blanket.
"Don't worry, I'm not interested in you. You and Mira are still worlds apart in terms of figure."
Lucy's expression immediately soured. She had felt a bit shy at first, but hearing that she didn't measure up to Mira's figure was disheartening. How could he say that? It was infuriating!
"Get out. Natsu and Gray have already started training. You did pretty well yesterday, so keep it up."
Newton rubbed his eyes, fighting off sleep.
"I'm tired; I'm going to take a nap."
"Wait, wait! Aren't you going to help with this mission, Newton?"
Lucy felt a bit anxious.
"I didn't take on any mission. My task is to bring you all back. Are you sure you want me to carry out a mission?"
Newton couldn't even be bothered to lift his eyelids as he casually tossed Lucy out of the room.
"Don't come and bother me."
In the end, Lucy had no choice but to run away, feeling too intimidated to say anything further.
"What a troublesome bunch," Newton muttered as he rummaged through his bag and began setting up a magic circle on the ground.
Now that it was clear that the so-called Magic Barrier existed to collect Moon Drops, destroying this barrier should resolve the issues here.
Newton could easily create powerful firearms or magic cannons, but just to be safe, he decided to prepare some defensive measures for the village.
"Alright, the defense measures for the village are all set. Now, let's go check on those guys in battle."
Steel began to assemble around Newton, and a motorcycle appeared beside him.
"Ahhh! There are so many people! I really shouldn't have stayed here to help!"
Beside Lucy, Taurus, the Celestial Spirit, was swinging his axe relentlessly, knocking down one Lackey after another.
"Die!"
In a corner that Lucy couldn't see, a flame shot toward her.
"Bang!"
But a bullet shattered the magical flame, followed by a series of gunshots, each one causing a person to fall.
"Newton!"
Lucy looked at Newton with delight.
"You've taken down quite a few. Not bad."
Newton observed the nearly half of the Lackeys lying on the ground; given Lucy's strength, that was quite impressive.
"Hurry and save Natsu and the others! They've gone to confront that Zero Emperor!"
Lucy felt a bit anxious, perhaps even more worried.
"Don't worry, those two kids are quite strong," Newton said as he put away his motorcycle.
"Let's go, we'll take our time getting there. Gray has always had an unresolved knot in his heart. He may seem like a bit of a fool, but inside, just like his magic, he's frozen. It seems to be related to this demon."
"But won't that have a bad influence on Gray?" Lucy asked as she closed the door, still feeling some concern.
"That's why Natsu is by his side," Newton chuckled.
"Natsu is foolish, really dense—just a simpleton. But actually, someone like him, who is so straightforward, won't be confused by anything. He'll just keep moving forward, which makes him perfect for guiding Gray."
"Wait, the ruins!" Lucy exclaimed in surprise.
Newton looked at the ruins with some astonishment as well. The ruins had been tilted for some unknown reason before, but now they had returned to their original state, and Moon Drop fell once again.
"It seems we can't just hang around here anymore. Let's speed up," Newton said as he remade the motorcycle and let Lucy sit on the back seat. With a roar, they sped off.
"Roar! Chasing after me would be your biggest mistake," he teased.
A figure dressed in a mask, resembling a shaman, chuckled as they looked at Natsu, while on the other side, the ice surrounding Deliora had already melted by a third.
"Boom!"
With a loud crash, Newton rode in on his motorcycle.
"Too fast, too fast."
Lucy stumbled down, her eyes spinning.
"Did you arrive a bit early?"
Newton's words surprised everyone.
"Newton, this thing can't be revived, right?" Natsu pointed at Deliora.
"Why? Are you worried about not being able to defeat this demon?" Newton raised an eyebrow. Natsu was taken aback. Indeed, even if the real Deliora were released, what would happen? No, that wasn't right.
"This ice was created by Gray's master! If it melts, it would mean killing Gray's master!"
"Is that even possible?"
Newton paused for a moment and couldn't help but marvel again at how incredible magic truly was.
"But even if we don't destroy the ice, how about I use part of it to make a statue of Uru?"
"Ugh, but, but..."
Natsu's already sluggish mind went blank for a moment, as he felt that something was off, yet he couldn't pinpoint what it was.
"Well then, how about this?"
Newton looked at Natsu, while the other two hosts of Moon Drop were completely ignored.
"Alright, but you have to let me fight that demon first!"
"Sure."
Newton nodded, a hint of sadness in his eyes, then turned to look at the dissolving Deliora.
"Stop!"
The ground beneath Newton suddenly shattered, but at the same time, a stone platform appeared under his feet.
"Interesting magic. This is your magic, but I have no intention of fighting you right now."
Without any hindrance, Newton approached the ice block and placed a hand on its surface.
"Alchemy!"
The ice block quickly disintegrated and then reformed into a beautiful woman, though this statue was only clad in lingerie.
"Why is she only wearing lingerie?!"
Lucy immediately chimed in with a complaint.
"You can check it out later, Uru. It could be the Ice Mage, second only to Holy Ten. That habit of Gray's to take off his clothes was taught by the other party; otherwise, how could I have made something like that?"
Newton spoke as if it were obvious, but suddenly, the ground above him collapsed, and stones came crashing down.
Newton raised his hand, using his Mechanical Arm to block the falling debris, but he soon felt his Mechanical Arm beginning to decay rapidly.
"Is this time?"
Newton frowned. This must be an ancient magic left behind; these things truly defy reason. Fortunately, the earth has endless materials. Although his arm had decayed, it was quickly repaired in the blink of an eye.
Just then, a crystal ball shot towards Newton. He sidestepped to avoid it and said to Lucy, "Take care of yourself."
After that, he charged toward the assailant, but the crystal ball moved at incredible speed and blocked Newton's path.
"Bang!"
Newton fired a shot and shattered the crystal ball, then aimed at the opponent. However, several more crystal balls flew toward him, using their numbers to absorb the impact of Newton's bullets.
"My magic can manipulate time—Arc of Time. Everything around us is..."
The opponent looked quite pleased with himself, but Newton's eyes lit up with interest.
"Manipulating time? Let me see your magic!"
The ground was constantly shifting beneath them; the rocks seemed on the verge of falling yet were simultaneously becoming solid again. Most astonishingly, Newton was walking in mid-air.
"What kind of magic are you using?"
The opponent was clearly flustered, and Newton would not let up. The countless stones shot at him posed no obstacle; he quickly closed the distance.
"What?"
But just as Newton approached, a startled cry rang out.
"Who on earth are you?"
However, the opponent could not utter another word, for at that moment, the creature known as Deliora had fully revived beneath their feet.
"It seems you don't have time to—"
"Do you think I would be fooled? This so-called demon should have been dead long ago. Who are you?"
To Shaman Man's surprise, Newton continued to pursue relentlessly.
"What a dull man you are. I really don't understand how that Miraj could have taken a liking to you."
Suddenly, the voice became melodious, and a note floated into Newton's hand. As he looked over, he saw Gray and his mentor approaching, so he temporarily decided to let the opponent go.
