Arriving at the port, Newton immediately brought out his Magic Ship and took out a nautical chart, setting sail in a specific direction.
Newton's Magic Ship was powered by magic, allowing it to travel alongside Natsu and the others. As expected, Gray had teamed up with Natsu, and the three of them, along with a cat, were genuinely planning to take on an S-Class mission. However, this was within Newton's expectations, so he had no intention of stopping them; instead, he watched as they interacted with the villagers.
According to the village chief, the village was cursed. Under the Purple Moonlight, everyone gradually mutated; not just humans, but all creatures on this island seemed to be affected by the curse.
At that moment, a purple moon appeared in the sky, and all the villagers instantly transformed into demon-like beings.
"Interesting," Newton mused.
Feeling the magic in the air, he thought that what appeared to be a curse seemed more like a removal of disguise in his eyes. As for this island, Newton had noticed it was surrounded by a massive barrier when he arrived. So as for curses—forget it; they simply didn't exist.
Then the village chief revealed his plan: to ask Natsu and the others to destroy the moon.
Natsu expressed his interest, but Lucy and Gray looked somewhat uneasy. After all, destroying the moon was quite an unbelievable task.
"Oh, I really think I need to get President to prioritize Intellectual Education now; with Natsu's intellect, he might end up getting himself killed," Newton sighed in exasperation as he watched Natsu eagerly prepare to destroy the moon. He truly didn't want to admit that he belonged to the same guild as such an idiot.
Fortunately, while the three were chatting, Lucy and Gray remained relatively rational and believed there should be another way.
The trio then wandered around the island and stumbled upon an enormous Dressed Mouse.
"Hmm, not much of interest," Newton said dismissively. Mice couldn't be used for Alchemy, so he had no plans regarding it.
However, what Newton didn't expect was that they accidentally found themselves in a temple where a demon was frozen beneath it.
"How is this possible!"
Gray's expression was quite complex when he saw the demon.
"Why is Deliora here?!"
But soon, three people approached from a distance, and Natsu and the others quickly hid. While eavesdropping, they learned that someone on this island was preparing to resurrect the disastrous demon Deliora.
After the three left, through Gray's memories, Natsu and Lucy understood the backstory of this frozen demon.
When midnight came and the moon rose, the true nature of the so-called Moon Drop magic was revealed. It seemed that the mysterious forces were planning to slaughter the entire village. Unable to hold back, Natsu jumped out, but he was immediately frozen. Gray then sent someone to chase after those who were slaughtering the village, while Natsu was kicked away by Gray.
"Leo, do you even know what you're doing?!"
Gray shouted in anger. To their surprise, the two were actually brothers in arms. This revelation made Newton pull out snacks from his backpack to munch on. The love-hate relationship between brothers was unfolding; as the elder brother, Leo was prepared to unleash the demon sealed at the cost of his master's life, while the younger brother aimed to stop him. This drama was more captivating than any soap opera.
As a result, Gray was suppressed by Leo's Verbal Assault. In Newton's perception, their magical power difference wasn't significant, but unfortunately, magic is an expression of the heart. Gray's heart hesitated, making him weaker than before. He was overwhelmed and soon found himself battered by Leo.
"You alone have no right to mention Uru's name! Disappear!"
Leo was already furious.
"Then do I have the right to mention Uru's name?"
A wall of air appeared in front of Gray, and at the same time, someone stood in front of him. Newton looked at Gray.
Gray lowered his head apologetically.
"Hmph."
Newton shook his head with a smile and then looked at Gray's elder brother.
"Who are you?"
Newton did not often take on missions, so it was not surprising that few people knew him; even those who did only recognized the name.
"Their seniors came mainly to look after these kids, so don't kill them outright. Don't worry, I’m not getting paid a single cent for this mission, so I won’t be taking the initiative against you."
Newton handed a vial of potion to Gray.
"Ridiculous!"
Facing Gray, Leo might still hold back a little due to their brotherly bond, but when it came to Newton, he showed no restraint whatsoever.
Countless Ice Birds charged at Newton.
"Interesting, but I'm not afraid of numbers."
Newton stomped the ground, and countless weapons emerged, shattering every single Ice Bird.
"If you want to play, then I’ll play along."
Newton looked indifferently at Leo. Leo waved his hand, and a gigantic ape swung its fist down at Newton.
"Oh? That gesture is quite interesting. Let me give it a try."
Newton pointed upward with his finger, and a massive pillar of earth and stone formed to block the Ice Ape's punch, smashing the creature into pieces.
"Since you're using ice, then I'll use fire."
Newton snapped his fingers, and a spark appeared at his fingertip, followed by a series of explosions that surged toward Leo.
"Ice Dragon!"
An Ice Dragon soared up to block Newton's flames. Newton charged forward, the sound of mechanical gears echoing as he delivered a punch that shattered the Ice Dragon.
“Explosive Flame!”
Another explosion erupted, leaving Leo's clothes tattered. He wanted to quickly create some distance; if that mechanical fist hit him again, he would definitely be down for the count.
Newton had no intention of pursuing him. Instead, he turned and approached Gray.
“Why aren’t you chasing him?”
Leo was furious; it felt like he was being ignored. His magical energy began to surge.
“Because it’s unnecessary. Your opponent isn’t me; it’s him,” Newton said as he lifted Gray onto his shoulder.
“I…”
Gray appeared to lack confidence.
“I’m not good at Verbal Assault. However, if you need some motivational words, I have plenty. Would you like some?”
Attacks came from behind, but they seemed to be blocked by an invisible wall. Leo was puzzled and charged forward, but tripped over his own feet, stumbling before hitting something hard, causing a sharp pain in his head.
“What is this thing!”
Newton had no intention of explaining his fighting style. He grabbed his backpack and glanced at Natsu, who was wrapped up in an ice ball, unable to suppress a smirk.
“This is quite interesting.”
“Newton! Are you here to help? Hurry…”
Natsu shouted anxiously but was interrupted by Newton.
“Enough.”
Newton's fist landed on Natsu's head.
"Look at yourself right now. That person is Gray's. Gray just lost and was crying; are you trying to steal his chance for revenge?"
"Oh? Is that so? Then forget it."
Natsu immediately put on a mocking expression.
"Gray, you cried!"
"…"
To Natsu's surprise, Gray didn't retaliate at all.
"See?"
Newton shrugged at Natsu, smashed the ice into pieces with a punch, and then handed Gray over to Natsu.
"I'm not good at comforting people, so I'll leave him to you. I'm going to check on Lucy; after all, that girl doesn't seem very strong."
In the end, Newton looked at Natsu.
"Is that okay?"
Natsu glanced at Gray and then back at Newton, nodding seriously.
"Then I’ll leave it to you."
Meanwhile, Leo was forgotten in place.
Upon returning to the village, Lucy surprisingly had already set up a trap.
"Newton!"
Lucy excitedly ran over to Newton, only to fall into her own trap.
"Lucy, I'm starting to doubt if your IQ is on the same level as Natsu's."
Newton pulled Lucy out.
"I'm not an idiot!" Lucy shouted fiercely.
"Someone's coming!"
Natsu, with his keen sense of smell, suddenly looked up at the sky, along with the other two and a mouse.
"Alchemy, Air Blade!"
Newton waved his hand, causing the mouse in the air to fall down, followed by a huge bucket that also came crashing down.
"Newton!" Natsu called out anxiously.
"Don't worry, don't worry. You three can handle this, right?" Newton said calmly, watching the things in the air.
"If iron can't dissolve, then we can use iron as a container. Alchemy!"
A large pot appeared on the ground, ready to catch all the liquid falling from above.
"You are..."
Before the guy with the animal-like face could finish his question, Natsu had already thrown a punch.
"Gray, can you still fight?"
Newton looked at Gray. Thanks to the potion, his physical injuries had mostly healed.
"Of course!"
Gray clenched his fist, filled with fighting spirit, which made Newton nod in approval. It seemed that occasionally being a hot-blooded idiot was useful after all.
"Then Lucy, you can handle that woman, right?"
"Huh? Me?"
Lucy was a bit surprised and swallowed hard as she looked at the enormous rat.
"I'll take care of that rat."
As soon as Newton finished speaking, a huge iron cage trapped the rat inside.
"Right now?"
"I'll do my best."
Lucy tightened her grip on her keys.
"Great, then let me see if you all can uphold the reputation of Fairy Tail."
"Wait, shouldn't you be focusing on not destroying the moon right now?"
The village chief roared.
"I'm sorry, what does this have to do with me?" Newton replied nonchalantly.
"The next mission is theirs, so it's not up to me to decide what to do; it's up to them. I haven't received any payment."
"We can pay you!" The village chief was nearly going mad.
"Sorry, but this mission has already been taken by them. I'm not going to compete with my juniors for a job."
"But..."
"You're really annoying."
Newton pulled a vial of potion from his bag and tossed it in front of the village chief. As soon as the chief smelled it, he immediately fainted.
