According to ancient legends, there exists a supreme and extraordinary book in the realm of dark magic known as the Blood God Manual. It is said that anyone who wishes to obtain this book must swear an oath to the Divine Demons inscribed within it, and then pierce their own flesh with countless golden needles to reverse their blood vessels. They must endure eighty-one trials of tribulation to master the spells contained within.
Once one has successfully cultivated the Blood God Manual, they can refine their physical body, existing between reality and illusion. In battle, they need not rely on any magical artifacts or means; simply by engaging closely with their opponent, they can absorb their enemy's essence and replenish their own true energy, thereby enhancing their power.
Given the immense power of the Blood God Manual, its cultivation is correspondingly arduous. Throughout history, aside from two individuals from the Five Emperors and Ten Ancestors who each mastered the manual through different paths, nearly all practitioners of this dark art have met with disastrous ends—either their essence collapsing or succumbing to madness.
Often, practitioners cannot resist the temptations posed by the Divine Demons attached to the Blood God Manual. Unable to endure the suffering of cultivation, they knowingly stray onto a misguided path, only to be further ensnared by the Divine Demons controlling their essence. Instead of mastering the manual, they become mere supplements for the Divine Demons inscribed within it.
The Blood God Manual itself is already a powerful artifact imbued with essence.
During his ascension, Deng Yin, known as the Blood God Child among the Five Emperors and Ten Ancestors, left this manual to his only friend, Ghost Ancestor Xu Huan. He cautioned him, saying, "If it were not absolutely necessary, I would have destroyed this book long ago. The spells recorded within are exceedingly malevolent; allowing it to circulate among mortals is no blessing for this world. After my ascension, please help me seal this book and seek out someone with a resolute will to pass it down through generations—never allowing it to resurface!"
After agreeing to Deng Yin's request, Ghost Ancestor Xu Huan indeed kept his promise. He had opened the strange book once but resisted the temptations of the Divine Demons with immense willpower and did not practice its formidable spells. Considering that he might not find a successor capable of resisting the allure of the Blood God Manual in the future, he decided to seal it away completely. Instead, he devised a compromise: using his unparalleled techniques centered around the Blood God Manual, he forged a unique artifact—the Blood God Banner.
The Blood God Manual had already absorbed many practitioners' essences. Once refined into an artifact, it became even more sinister and formidable. The Blood God Banner subsequently gave birth to Twelve Blood Gods, each possessing power comparable to Deng Yin's from years past. Lacking independent consciousness yet exuding overwhelming ferocity made them incredibly fearsome.
Ghost Ancestor Xu Huan was willing to teach Fang Lin Kong about the Blood God Banner because he was gradually losing control over this artifact. He hoped that by handing over the Blood God Banner, he could ease his grievances with Liexiezi while also relying on this rare talent from Kunlun Celestial Path—who appeared only once in a millennium—to help subdue this fierce weapon.
Unaware of the origins of the Blood God Banner, Fang Lin Kong casually experimented with the black mist contained within the Ten Thousand Methods Magic Jar. This led to unexpected gains.
After being dispersed by the Ethereal Souls on the Blood God Banner and awakened by the Blood God Child, what lay hidden inside was revealed—a ball of multicolored brilliance radiating rich spiritual energy.
Fang Lin Kong quickly moved away the Ethereal Souls from the Blood God Banner and daringly seized that ball of multicolored brilliance from among the Twelve Blood Gods before swiftly retreating from the Ten Thousand Methods Magic Jar.
Thanks to his divine consciousness, he moved swiftly like lightning, and even the powers of the Blood God Child could not intercept him.
After retracting his divine consciousness, Fang Lin Kong looked at the item he had brought out, filled with joy.
In his hand was a heart-shaped jade pendant. The pendant was warm to the touch, and although Fang Lin Kong did not recognize it as Eternal Warm Jade, he knew it was no ordinary item. Originally pure white, it contained a blue jade core within. As he played with it lightly in his hand, it emitted a dazzling array of colors, truly enchanting.
Fang Lin Kong extended his divine consciousness into it for a brief exploration and discovered that this was a defensive treasure.
He thought to himself that if the Ten Thousand Methods Magic Jar contained tens of thousands of such black energies, then wouldn’t that mean he would strike it rich?
With this thought in mind, Fang Lin Kong disregarded the terrifying presence of the Ethereal Souls and the ferocity of the Blood God Child. He formed a hand seal and leaped into the Ten Thousand Methods Magic Jar.
It was uncertain whether Fang Lin Kong's luck was good or bad. Years ago, this Ten Thousand Methods Magic Jar had been in the hands of the Blue Plow Ancestor, who had collected countless Daoist Sect treasures within it. This item was vast inside; the Blue Plow Ancestor had always used it as a personal storage warehouse, housing numerous treasures he had gathered. Later on, when the Blue Plow Ancestor ascended, his eldest disciple seized the Ten Thousand Methods Magic Jar. Its notoriety attracted countless enemies, and relying on its unique ability to collect treasures from around the world, he amassed quite a few valuable items.
Eventually, the Blue Plow Ancestor's eldest disciple was besieged by experts from various Daoist Sects and met an untimely death. The Ten Thousand Methods Magic Jar then changed hands multiple times among dozens of owners. Although many of them were skilled in Daoist arts, they did not know the sealing techniques of the Blue Plow Sect and thus sat atop a mountain of treasures without knowing how to unlock them.
Fang Lin Kong also did not know how to open the Ten Thousand Methods Magic Jar, but he could comprehend spatial laws and move freely within it. With powerful treasures like the Blood God Banner at his disposal, he could forcefully break through the Great Black Netherworld designed for storage within the Ten Thousand Methods Magic Jar. Thus, he found himself in this advantageous position.
The Ethereal Souls on the Blood God Banner were furious as Fang Lin Kong snatched away their imminent feast. Although the Twelve Blood Gods were restrained by the power of the Blood God Banner and could not escape its hundred-mile radius, they frantically flew around in circles. Their faint blood shadows flickered in and out of visibility—sometimes expanding like a blood curtain across half the sky and sometimes shrinking down to a pinpoint. If not for Fang Lin Kong's keen eyesight, he would have nearly missed seeing these Blood God Children.
Fang Lin Kong was not recklessly fearless; therefore, he first activated his Triple Shield before slowly moving a black energy mass into the range of influence of the Blood God Banner.
This time, the Twelve Blood Gods acted first. The black energy mass was originally part of the Great Black Netherworld meant for storing treasures within the Ten Thousand Methods Magic Jar—a realm within a realm capable of suppressing all treasure powers. However, confronted by the boundless might of the Blood God Child, it only held up for a moment before collapsing, revealing a celestial sword hidden inside.
Just as Fang Lin Kong was about to take action, one Blood God Child lunged forward and enveloped that celestial sword within its translucent body. Fang Lin Kong watched helplessly as a perfectly good celestial sword gradually melted away, being digested by that Blood God Child like some kind of supplement. Unable to contain his anger, he shouted furiously: "These damn creatures dare to snatch treasures from me! They must be tired of living! I'll make sure they reincarnate once more!"
Fang Lin Kong raised his hand, unleashing a surge of Prison Thunder Wave, the black electricity crashing violently towards the Blood God Child that had consumed the celestial sword.
However, to his astonishment, the Blood God Child confronted the incoming Prison Thunder Wave without flinching or dodging, allowing the black lightning to surge into its body. Fang Lin Kong then witnessed his own demonic lightning swirling rapidly within the Blood God Child, gradually shrinking until it vanished completely.
Fang Lin Kong was immediately struck with fear, realizing the terrifying nature of these Blood God Children. "If these faint red figures can absorb any kind of energy, even drawing from the Spiritual Wave of celestial weapons, what in this world could possibly subdue them?"
After trying various spells, Fang Lin Kong could not find a weakness in the Blood God Child. If it weren't for the fact that these Blood God Children were bound by the Blood God Banner and unable to come after him for revenge, he would have died several times over by now.
"The Azure Fire Divine Flame has a consumption effect with an efficiency of fifty percent. Pure Holy Power has a purification effect with an efficiency of thirty percent. The Prison Thunder Wave only has an efficiency of twenty-seven percent, similar to Holy Power. The signature Black Flame of the True Flame Sect? I should have kicked their leader to death; its efficiency is negative! And there's more..."
Fang Lin Kong experimented, hypothesizing how much vitality he could extinguish from a Blood God Child with a hundred units of his power. He tried nearly all the powers at his disposal, and the best result came from the Azure Fire Divine Flame: with a hundred units of effort, he could extinguish fifty vitality from a Blood God Child. Theoretically, if his power exceeded that of a Blood God Child by double, he could slay demons and monsters.
"But! This is absolutely impossible! If I were twice as strong as a Blood God Child, I would need at least several thousand more years of cultivation than these monsters. Otherwise, where would I find the time to accumulate true energy?"
Fang Lin Kong also attempted to simulate the energy of a Blood God Child but discovered that their true energy was in an extraordinarily peculiar state. In terms of refinement, it was deeper than any true energy he had ever encountered. Unless given decades to cultivate or possibly mastering it, which was merely a possibility and not guaranteed.
Aside from a few particularly unique types of true energy, most true energies were merely supplements to the Blood God Child. Moreover, since the Blood God Child lacked a physical body, there was no issue of absorbing excessive true energy.
Fang Lin Kong realized he was in deep trouble.
"What if this Blood God Banner becomes uncontrollable? What should I do? Running away is one option, but throwing things around seems even worse!"
Could the Ten Thousand Methods Magic Jar control the rampaging Blood God Banner?
When he received the Blood God Banner from Ghost Ancestor Xu Huan, Fang Lin Kong hadn't considered these troublesome issues; he had been overly confident due to his recent successes. Just thinking about carrying such a dangerous object comparable to nuclear weapons made Fang Lin Kong's mind spiral into chaos.
After repeatedly attempting to have the Blood God Child destroy several black energy clusters formed by the Great Black Netherworld, Fang Lin Kong finally found the right method and managed to extract a treasured item. Of course, the treasures hidden within those clusters used for experimentation were all devoured by the Twelve Blood Gods. Once swallowed by the Blood Gods, the spiritual energy of the treasures rapidly dissipated. The moment the energy vanished, any kind of treasure would become incredibly fragile, easily crushed by the twisting form of the Blood God Child, scattering into dust as it fell.
Fang Lin Kong felt both pained and contemplative.
"The loss of these treasures is worth it. Once I collect all the treasures hidden in the Ten Thousand Methods Magic Jar, I could establish a large-scale cultivation weapon repository! It’s incredible that there are all kinds of treasures here!"
A master from a Daoist Sect who had cultivated for hundreds of years would typically possess dozens of magical artifacts, regardless of their proficiency in artifact refinement. Neither the Blue Plow Elder nor his eldest disciple showed much interest in categorizing these treasures by their levels. The artifacts collected by the Ten Thousand Methods Magic Jar varied greatly in power; most were of inferior quality compared to those refined by experts like Voidbreaker. However, some artifacts were unique treasures from certain Daoist Sect predecessors or ancient celestial weapons passed down through their sects. Fang Lin Kong had a keen eye and could quickly identify dozens of top-tier artifacts among tens of thousands that were comparable to the Liexie Twin Hooks, even if they were slightly weaker.
The Blood God Banner stood tall in mid-air, with the Twelve Blood Gods almost forming a straight line as they struggled to break free from its restraints and charge at Fang Lin Kong.
After collecting the treasures, Fang Lin Kong let out a long howl and burst out from the Ten Thousand Methods Magic Jar. He already understood that to eliminate the Blood God Child, he needed two things: one was a type of energy more refined and concentrated than that of the Blood God Child, and the other was a Divine Weapon like his Four Treasures of the Demon Gate or Liexie Twin Hooks—artifacts with highly concentrated spiritual energy that external forces could not shake, capable of harming the Blood God Child.
This deduction came when Fang Lin Kong inadvertently pushed a cluster of black energy formed by the Great Black Netherworld toward the Blood God Banner. After dispersing the protective black energy, the Blood God Child did not easily absorb the energy from other treasures as before; instead, it struggled against this radiant artifact for quite some time, ultimately exhausting a significant amount of Vitality before destroying it.
Fang Lin Kong's understanding of energy far surpassed his other skills. He immediately recognized where the Blood God Child's weakness lay. With this assurance, he felt more at ease. Even if the Blood God Child broke free from the restraints of the Blood God Banner, he still had means to protect himself.
"As long as I have half a year, I can cultivate an exotic true energy strong enough to suppress the Blood God Banner. However, the most convenient method would be to immediately hand this cursed thing over to Uncle Liexie Zishi to deal with. He definitely has a way to handle this major trouble!"
Taking advantage of the faint light in the sky and avoiding an increasing number of pedestrians, Fang Lin Kong safely landed on solid ground.
