Fang Lin Kong stepped out of the restaurant, ignoring the polite smile of the hostess wishing him a good evening. After striding toward the stairs, he vanished from sight in the blink of an eye, appearing on the Ninth Floor. The spell of instant movement was something Fang Lin Kong had mastered long ago.
"Room 908! This is 901, so that must be it," he confirmed as he noted the sequence of room numbers. With purposeful strides, he turned a corner in the hallway. Before him stood some rather unpleasant individuals. The young man he had encountered downstairs, dressed in a suit from Gieves & Hawkes, which was authorized by the British Royal Family, was holding a bouquet of blooming pink roses and knocking on a hotel room door. The new "gh" logo of Gieves & Hawkes, accompanied by an image of a sword, exuded simplicity and elegance. The young man's hairstyle was clearly crafted by a professional, perfectly complementing his ordinary face and adding an air of mystery and grace that could easily charm any inexperienced girl.
Of course, the dozen or so intimidating bodyguards behind him were more than capable of dealing with anyone who refused to back down.
Fang Lin Kong's gaze fell upon the doorplate—Room 908!
He did not slow his pace, but one of the young man's subordinates immediately moved to block him. In a foul mood, Fang Lin Kong didn't hold back; with a simple wave of his hand, two Black-Clad Men were sent flying across the hallway. One of them, who had previously crossed paths with Fang Lin Kong twice, was evidently sharper than his companions. Understanding that this was a crucial moment to show loyalty, he hurriedly stepped back to protect the young man.
This young man came from a well-connected family and had some influence himself, navigating both the business and political worlds with ease. He had initially thought that using his title as Wu Young Master to pursue a newcomer in the music industry would be effortless. However, he did not anticipate that the entertainment company would be so resolute in their refusal to allow their artist to attend his banquet.
Now that he had personally come to invite the lady, encountering someone like Fang Lin Kong was unexpected. Accustomed to thinking like someone in power, he intended to have his subordinates subdue Fang Lin Kong and teach him a harsh lesson. But before he could issue any orders, Fang Lin Kong had already swept aside all ten or so bodyguards.
When this fierce young man's gaze turned toward him, if not for the support of one Black-Clad Man, Wu Young Master would have nearly collapsed to his knees.
Fang Lin Kong was not there to fight; however, he lacked the patience for knocking on doors. It seemed that Wu Young Master had been knocking for quite some time. With fingers spread wide open as if slicing through tofu, Fang Lin Kong inserted his hand into Room 908's door. With a gentle twist of his wrist, he extracted the lock and pushed the door open with an air of refinement.
The moment he stepped inside, Fang Lin Kong felt an unusual chill. At Ding Qingya's door stood a layer of Battle Barrier that radiated extreme cold.
Though it was still possible to retreat at this moment, Fang Lin Kong took a deep breath and boldly stepped forward.
He had previously encountered Duskaya's Ice Peak Barrier; however, the enemy he was about to confront was evidently even more formidable. Duskaya's Battle Barrier mimicked Siberia's frigid wasteland, while this space was one of absolute zero temperature. Not only ordinary humans but even weaker monsters could not withstand such extreme cold. Fang Lin Kong abandoned any thoughts of using Azure Fire Divine Flame Armor; as an extraordinary energy derived from Ancient God Chaos, Azure Fire Divine Flame maintained its temperature throughout time and space and would not dissipate even in absolute zero conditions. However, Fang Lin Kong understood the importance of concealing his true power. He typically used Azure Fire Divine Flame without unleashing its full potential; even if others observed closely, they would not grasp its unique nature. Yet against this unseen enemy whom he was about to confront, Fang Lin Kong felt an inexplicable sense of dread.
Even after entering the Transformation Realm, Fang Lin Kong's body was already incredibly strong, yet he was reluctant to easily attempt to confront such low temperatures. The absolute zero of the Battle Barrier was enough to render most monsters immobile.
After a moment of hesitation, a swirl of black flames rose beneath Fang Lin Kong's feet, forming a shield that protected him. The Black Flame from the True Flame Sect was a peculiar energy devoid of any temperature, perfectly suited to counter the absolute zero of the Battle Barrier.
Beyond the cold lay an endless expanse of pale whiteness. Upon stepping into this Battle Barrier, Fang Lin Kong made no immediate move. This Battle Barrier was larger than any he had encountered before, indicating the power of its master. If he were to search for something within, it would be no easier than playing hide and seek in a maze.
Sometimes, waiting quietly was the best and most efficient approach.
A gentle melody seemed to emerge from the void. As a high school student raised under an education system focused on exams, Fang Lin Kong could never discern whether this was a masterpiece by a world-renowned artist or the final work of an obscure musical genius. He instinctively felt that this tune was incredibly pleasant, even evoking a refreshing and sunny sensation. Even in such a frigid world, Fang Lin Kong could sense warmth emanating from the vibrations of the sound waves.
"Young brother! I have always favored a perfect style. You might find it pretentious and dull, but that is merely because our aesthetic tastes differ. I hope you will appreciate my arrangements!"
A distinguished middle-aged man, resembling a great artist, appeared before Fang Lin Kong in an unusual manner. First, there was an eerie refraction like crumpled glass appearing in front of him, and then it seemed as if countless fragments pieced together to form an incredibly smooth surface.
Fang Lin Kong subtly adjusted his grip on the Heavenly Edge Reversal Blade and Liexie Twin Hooks, two Divine Weapons, while focusing his mind. He spoke slowly, "Sir, I do not understand why you have brought my girlfriend here. Could you clarify your intentions? Of course, if you intend to threaten me regarding Ding Qingya, spare me the nonsense."
The middle-aged man smiled gracefully at Fang Lin Kong's words and replied, "I am merely entrusted with looking after your family and girlfriend. If I want Zhou Qingzhe to refrain from taking action against those close to you, I must have a reasonable justification. My reason is that Ding Qingya is now a signed artist under my company. Naturally, I cannot allow anyone to threaten her safety."
"Looking after my family? Who is Zhou Qingzhe?"
The middle-aged man smiled lightly, instilling in Fang Lin Kong an inexplicable sense of trust towards him. He continued, "It seems you still have much to learn that requires my explanation."
"First, let me introduce myself. I am from Australia; however, Australia is not my birthplace. I have lived there for several hundred years. Some call me Ice Ancestor or Ice King; others refer to me as Ice Mountain or Ice Man. You may call me whatever you prefer. My greatest passion is art—be it painting, music, film, or sculpture; I love it all. In Hollywood, I even own a film company and a music record label."
"The person who commissioned me is also the one who sent you Gouli Heaven's Tome. As for Zhou Qingzhe, you should have heard of him; he is one of the five executive Chairmen of the International Demon Alliance and has been quite prominent lately."
Fang Lin Kong, in a moment of urgency, had indeed forgotten who Zhou Qingzhe was. However, upon hearing the middle-aged man's words, he immediately recalled this prominent figure in the world of demons. Yet, there were still some things that left him utterly perplexed when his eyes fell upon the man's body. He suddenly gasped.
After experiencing fierce battles, Fang Lin Kong had gained considerable insight. The man who claimed to be the Ice King appeared to be in a faintly transparent state, a clear indication of physical energy transformation. Although Fang Lin Kong could not discern the nature of the man's demonic aura, the sheer purity and refinement of it left him astounded.
"Could it be... this guy is about to step into Divine Extremity?"
At that moment, Fang Lin Kong's shock was greater than when he had encountered Ancient God Chaos.
The Ice King noticed Fang Lin Kong's astonishment but did not elaborate further. Instead, he succinctly stated his purpose and briefly recounted the recent turmoil within the International Demon Alliance and significant events in the Dark World. It was then that Fang Lin Kong realized that his participation in the Blood Clan's Hundred Years' War had disrupted a carefully planned strategic deployment by others.
Originally, Zhou Qingzhe and Zhang Rongying had already infiltrated many subordinates into the Blood Clan. Joining the Blood Clan required only a single ritual, which opened a convenient door for the International Demon Alliance. These demons were already quite formidable; although their strength did not increase as it would for ordinary individuals after becoming part of the Blood Clan, their inherent powers allowed them to occupy high positions within it. Zhou Qingzhe had initially planned to control the Blood Clan and extend their influence into the Dark Council. He had even paid countless costs to gain support from the Demon Hunting Team for this plan.
However, with the emergence of Liexiezi, Zhou Qingzhe's plans crumbled into dust. Arlen Xuding Si abandoned his intention to act on-site for the February Fourteenth duel. Meanwhile, Zhou Qingzhe's chosen candidate to control the Blood Clan, Zhang Bailun from the White Tiger Divine Clan, was sealed by Fang Lin Kong. This newcomer, consistently ranked among the top ten in the International Demon Alliance, had encountered a super anomaly like Fang Lin Kong.
Moreover, before this incident, Azure Sky Ancestor had already rejected Zhou Qingzhe's overtures. The Hundred Years' War exacerbated this conflict. Fang Lin Kong, an unknown human, had rapidly become a significant adversary within the International Yokai Organization.
As Ice King meticulously analyzed Fang Lin Kong's situation, he suddenly realized how precarious his position truly was.
He did not possess Liexiezi's ability to withstand Kyo Kusanagi. Furthermore, his parents and friends were all ordinary humans; even Wen Yi and others were merely novice practitioners. It was laughable to think they could offer any assistance—if they weren't taken hostage themselves, it would already be a stroke of luck.
Suddenly, any confidence brought on by his recent power increase vanished without a trace. In that moment, he felt incredibly small; his strength seemed so feeble, and his methods appeared naive and ridiculous. In the eyes of great demons like Zhou Qingzhe and Zhang Rongying, he probably didn't even qualify as a mere clown. After all, in this era, what mattered was comprehensive strength and organizational cohesion—individual heroism had little market value anymore.
Ice King observed Fang Lin Kong's shifting expressions with interest until there was nothing left in his eyes but coldness; only then did he speak: "To be able to organize your emotional changes in such a short time frame makes you quite an impressive individual, Fang Lin Kong. In my life, I have first recognized someone's greatness before discovering their exceptional qualities; this is my first time experiencing such a thing."
Fang Lin Kong was taken aback and replied, "Do you know the identity of Future Seer?"
"Ice King" smiled lightly and said, "We will be friends in the future. Although it's a bit early to say this now, I still really enjoy having you as a friend."
"Fang Lin Kong" suddenly narrowed his eyes sharply and asked, "So can I go see my girlfriend now?"
"Ice King" waved his hand with a smile, and a grand, classical bronze door appeared before them. He said, "As long as you push open the door, you can enter 'Ding Qingya's' room. By the way, I have quite a fondness for this girl and have already taken her as my goddaughter. You better take this relationship seriously; otherwise, an angry father can do unpredictable things!"
"Damn! You're threatening me!"
"Fang Lin Kong" pretended to push open the grand door, but was suddenly hit by a wave of hot steam that caught him off guard. Then he saw a curvaceous figure appear before him.
"Hmm! That old bastard actually sent me here?"
Just as "Fang Lin Kong" was about to explain, he was even more shocked to discover that behind the faint mist was not his girlfriend but a beautiful girl he had never seen before. She was staring at him with wide eyes, unable to believe that this boy had appeared in her bathroom.
Their gazes locked for a moment until the girl suddenly regained her composure, hurriedly grabbed a bath towel, and wrapped it around her youthful body. She almost screamed as she shoved "Fang Lin Kong" out of the bathroom.
"Fang Lin Kong" stumbled out of the bathroom in embarrassment. The door that "Ice King" had opened had already closed, leaving him unable to return to "Ice King's Battle Barrier." However, when he exited the bathroom, what he saw next made his eyes widen even further. A girl with long, wet hair was sitting on the bed, combing her hair. Upon hearing someone come out, she smiled and said, "Liang Ying! Did you finish washing up so quickly? You were screaming so loudly just now; did you discover a hidden camera?"
As she spoke, the girl looked up. It was none other than "Fang Lin Kong's" girlfriend, "Ding Qingya."
At that moment, "Fang Lin Kong" felt his head buzzing; even being chased by over a hundred monsters from the International Demon Alliance didn't feel as terrifying as this moment…
