“Fang Lin Kong! Did you cheat on this exam? Speak the truth!”
Lu Mingxia, a member of the Learning Committee, sat on Fang Lin Kong's desk, adopting a fierce posture typical of a gang leader, one foot resting on Fang Lin Kong's chair as she interrogated him aggressively. The classroom was in chaos since the teacher had gone to a meeting.
In her hands, Lu Mingxia held all of Fang Lin Kong's final exam papers, checking each one to see if any errors had been made by the teachers that might have unfairly boosted his score.
“I was supposed to be the top student in this class. The only subject I would lose in is math, and that's only to that weirdo Zhang Bashu. Other than that, I’m better than everyone else…”
Beside them, the mild-mannered Zhang Bashu, adjusting his glasses, said discontentedly, “Comrade Lu Mingxia, you’re currently interrogating our classmate Fang Lin Kong for suspected cheating. Please don’t stir up internal conflicts among the people. Even though we’re familiar with each other, I still have to report this!”
Lu Mingxia shot Zhang Bashu an annoyed glance, her almond-shaped eyes wide open as she pointed her fair finger at Fang Lin Kong’s nose and said sternly, “Confess honestly or face the consequences. Resist and you’ll be tied up and thrown into the river. So tell me! Which do you choose?”
Fang Lin Kong awkwardly lowered his head and said dejectedly, “Can’t I just turn over a new leaf and suddenly improve my studies? Why must I choose between being falsely accused and facing violence? Zhang Bashu! You were the one who asked me to deliver that love letter to Lu Mingxia last time. You can’t forget your roots as such a good comrade! It’s wrong to burn bridges after crossing them!”
“What! Zhang Bashu! That creepy love letter was really from you…”
With that statement, the focus of the interrogation shifted. Fang Lin Kong quietly tried to move Lu Mingxia’s leg aside to make his escape but was startled into stillness by a loud shout: “Pervert! Assault! Fang Lin Kong, you creep…”
Zhang Bashu felt extremely embarrassed; Fang Lin Kong had revealed his secret crush on Lu Mingxia in front of everyone. He wished he could chop Fang Lin Kong into pieces and sink him with a cement block in the Pacific Ocean. However, he couldn’t tear his gaze away from Lu Mingxia’s bright eyes and found himself tongue-tied.
Fang Lin Kong yelled from the side, “Old Zhang, are you still a man? What’s there to be afraid of? Just admit it so Lu Mingxia can beat you up for relief; then we can all enjoy the New Year!”
Fang Lin Kong’s skills in cheating had become increasingly refined. He could memorize all sorts of information stacked up to his head within a day—a sophisticated method of cheating that no teacher could detect.
In this final exam, Fang Lin Kong had unexpectedly risen from being an average student to ranking first in both his class and year level, causing quite a stir throughout the school. The teachers who taught him knew he was smart and were surprised by his grades but had not suspected anything foul. However, Lu Mingxia, whose spotlight he had stolen, was not so easy to deal with. After distributing the exam papers, she set up her own private tribunal for interrogation. Many classmates were egging on the situation.
As more scandalous news emerged during the interrogation, the classroom grew even livelier.
Zhang Bashu suddenly found some courage and shouted loudly, “Lu Mingxia, I like you! That love letter was indeed written by me. Do whatever you want with me; I accept it!”
Nearby, Wen Yi, Chen Mingbin, and Ma Jingjie—who usually loved excitement—had unexpectedly become serious lately. Watching everyone else stir up trouble without saying a word themselves made them seem even more withdrawn. Whenever Fang Lin Kong glanced their way, they instinctively avoided eye contact.
Seeing Lu Mingxia’s face turn red with embarrassment, Fang Lin Kong suddenly shouted, “Let’s drag this guy who openly flirts with our Learning Committee Member out and throw him into the river!”
Amidst the chaos and noise, Lu Mingxia suddenly regained her composure. She scanned the room with a confident gaze and exclaimed, "Everyone, quiet down! Are we throwing classroom discipline out the window?"
Lu Mingxia was well-liked in class and held a high level of respect among her peers. When she spoke like that, no one dared to mock her. Zhang Bashu felt her gaze land on him again, and he nervously began to sweat—not due to the heat.
To everyone's surprise, Lu Mingxia boldly took Zhang Bashu's hand and smiled charmingly as she said, "I happen to be free tonight. Let's take a walk at Cultural Square after school! I really want to see the pigeons!"
"Sure! Sounds good! No problem!"
Zhang Bashu was so nervous he didn’t know what to say. After a moment of processing, he let out an excited shout and proudly glanced around the classroom. However, Lu Mingxia pinched him on the arm, causing his earlier bravado to fade.
Fang Lin Kong chuckled and pointed towards the door, saying, "Lu, you're not being very ladylike! My Qingya is already looking for me; you should let me go!"
When Lu Mingxia turned to look, Fang Lin Kong seized the opportunity to slip out of her grasp and laughed as he made his exit. As he passed by the classroom door, he casually pulled Ding Qingya, who was waiting for him, along with him.
"I have some things to take care of during winter break; I might not be able to spend a few days with you."
Ding Qingya asked worriedly, "Are you going traveling again? It's so cold this winter; where else could you possibly go?"
Fang Lin Kong chuckled and replied, "I'm not traveling; it's something else. Here, take a look at this."
He handed her a document. Ding Qingya flipped through it casually and discovered it was in a foreign language. It was divided into four sections of text, but fortunately, English was one of them. With her decent command of English, she managed to read some of its contents.
"You’re applying for admission tests at this university? And they cover round-trip expenses along with a hefty scholarship? That’s great news! But if you go..."
Fang Lin Kong knew exactly what Ding Qingya was worried about. He smiled reassuringly and said, "You don’t need to worry about that. You obviously can’t go with me for this application. But I’ve also registered you for another school. The test you took on my computer last time was for another school in the same city. I checked your scores; you should be fine."
"Last time?" Ding Qingya felt skeptical, but Fang Lin Kong's earnest expression left her unsure of how to respond.
"Yes, that French test from last time. You did quite well on it!"
Fang Lin Kong reminded her lightly. Ding Qingya vaguely recalled that during one visit to Fang Lin Kong's house, they had stumbled upon a strange test online while playing around. Although she didn’t understand French at all, Fang Lin Kong claimed he did and translated for her while filling in her answers somewhat convincingly.
"But can something like that really get you a full scholarship?"
Ding Qingya was completely unconvinced.
Fang Lin Kong chuckled to himself, fully aware that Ding Qingya didn't believe him. However, he was confident about the matter at hand. This notification letter was given to him by Oren Vikin, serving as his Demon Hunter examination admission ticket. Moreover, Oren Vikin had promised Fang Lin Kong that if he passed this exam, he would arrange for Ding Qingya to attend a school in Europe, allowing him to accompany her during her studies.
As for the financial aspect, Fang Lin Kong had no worries. Ding Chifeng had already opened an International Account for him and transferred two hundred thousand euros.
Once he got through this hurdle, he wouldn't have to fear the International Demon Alliance's pursuit anymore. He also wouldn't have to worry about Zhou Qingzhe's subordinates seeking revenge against him. At the very least, possessing a Demon Hunter license would provide Fang Lin Kong with numerous conveniences and open the door to another world.
After checking his Vampire's Kiss, Fang Lin Kong filled the magazine. He coolly performed a classic Western cowboy gesture, spinning the large handgun in his hand before it vanished into thin air.
He had already said his goodbyes to Li Bing and Ding Chifeng. He also consulted Wen Zhongda one last time regarding his cultivation questions. Now, Fang Lin Kong was patiently waiting at home for the departure time.
Oren Vikin had sent out four notifications simultaneously, and Fang Lin Kong received one while Wen Yi and the others also got theirs. Fang Lin Kong had already planned to break down the barriers among friends on their way to Europe.
Although Fang Lin Kong's parents were puzzled about why their son suddenly received an invitation from a foreign university, the advanced check that came with the notification was indeed genuine and verified by the bank.
With their son attending, his parents were naturally pleased and did not hinder his plans.
Today, Fang Lin Kong woke up very early, knowing there were still over four hours until the flight took off. Feeling a bit anxious, he couldn't help but send a text message to his girlfriend. When Ding Qingya's phone rang, she picked it up and smiled slightly upon seeing it was from him. At that moment, she was standing outside Fang Lin Kong's house, gently knocking on the door. Soon after, she heard hurried footsteps approaching. Fang Lin Kong joyfully opened the door and welcomed Ding Qingya inside.
Today, Fang Lin Kong would have his girlfriend see him off at the airport.
