A mere wall of the Tofu Dregs Project was utterly powerless to withstand such a powerful strike. The man in black swung his blade, cutting through the air, and shattered several layers of walls with overwhelming force. However, when the Black Flame Curved Blade struck its target, he was momentarily taken aback. The curved blade, forged from his true flame, Black Flame, was intimately connected to his spirit. He could clearly discern whether he had struck something or not. The man in black felt as if his Black Flame Curved Blade was being drawn in by something; in just a moment, the black flames had dissipated significantly.
“How could this happen?” The man in black struggled to retract his Black Flame Curved Blade, but the pulling force was astonishing. He expended thirty percent of his strength before finally bringing back his blade, but the black flames that once swirled around it had weakened to an extreme degree, and even the blade itself had shrunk by more than half.
“Impossible! No one can absorb my black flames. Unless…”
Though he couldn't believe it in his heart, the undeniable reality filled him with panic. He had never encountered such a situation before and didn’t know how to handle it.
“Sdeck! I told you not to underestimate the enemy; now look where we are. China is not so easily approached.”
As the man in black stood there in shock, a languid young man stepped out from the shadows. With an Eastern standard face and a perfectly tailored suit, he exuded an extraordinary demeanor. However, the casually rolled-up sleeves added a touch of carefree nonchalance and laziness to his appearance.
“Dongfang! If you’re capable, go see what has appeared!” Although relieved by the arrival of his companion, Sdeck’s tone remained displeased as he spoke coldly.
“This boy has come into contact with Gouli Heaven's Tome; any changes that have occurred are beyond our knowledge. Sdeck, our goal this time is to either obtain or eliminate this boy, but you are too impatient. There’s an old Chinese saying: ‘An ant that is too eager cannot climb a tree.’ Do you know what that means?”
Having no understanding of Eastern culture, Sdeck could only shake his head blankly and replied, “Chinese culture is vast and profound; even Chinese people themselves may not fully grasp it. How would I know such complicated things?”
The man referred to as Dongfang chuckled softly and said nothing more, but inwardly he sneered at Sdeck: “This fool doesn’t even realize when he’s being insulted. The depth of Chinese culture and its insults is truly beyond your comprehension.”
“To what extent can an eager ant go? It can only climb onto its mother ant; wanting to reach a tall tree… well, its size just doesn’t match!”
Dongfang did not voice these thoughts, as there were more pressing matters to address, particularly the issue with Fang Lin Kong.
Having observed for a considerable time, Dongfang had already set up a barrier that sealed off the entire area. His status in the True Flame Sect was far superior to that of Sdeck, and this time he was the one leading the effort to reclaim the local monster forces in the city.
Dongfang could not comprehend what had happened to Fang Lin Kong. When he checked earlier, the readings on the detector were fluctuating wildly. This small tool for measuring spiritual energy was quite popular internationally; it could not only indicate an opponent's energy strength but also locate nearby sources of energy emission. However, he had never witnessed such intense fluctuations in a living being's energy before, which left him hesitant.
Dongfang remained still, while Sdeck dared not look at what was happening with Fang Lin Kong. However, Sdeck glanced at his own detector and gasped, "Dongfang, that kid's spiritual energy is continuously increasing! It has already surpassed one thousand and reached one thousand one hundred fifty; it was just below two hundred moments ago!"
Dongfang frowned slightly and replied calmly, "That's not all that surprising. Look at the readings for the nature of the spiritual energy; that's what's truly bizarre."
Sdeck adjusted his detector and was immediately taken aback, staring in disbelief before murmuring, "This is impossible! No one has ever been able to freely change their energy attributes—never! What is going on?"
"The platinum color indicates the Holy Power field of the Demon Hunting Team, while the colorful readings represent Natural Magic. The Five Elements Spiritual Energy from China is represented by another five-colored bar. But now these spiritual energies are fluctuating wildly—sometimes soaring to their peak and other times plummeting to their lowest point. This can only mean one thing: the opponent can freely switch their energy attributes."
Dongfang's calm analysis left Sdeck in disbelief. "That kind of ability can only belong to..."
"Exactly," Dongfang interjected. "Only a master of Divine Extremity could achieve such a feat."
With those words, Dongfang shattered Sdeck's confidence, causing him to nearly leap in shock. "Nonsense! If it were a Divine Extremity master, their energy intensity would be at least over one hundred thousand! How could this mere thousand-plus reading possibly belong to a Divine Extremity master?"
Shrugging lightly, Dongfang replied nonchalantly, "I don't know the answer to that either."
At this moment, Fang Lin Kong's consciousness was in a peculiar state. Just when he felt he could bear no more, a suppressed memory suddenly burst forth in his mind—a remnant left by his future self—like a chilling current piercing through Fang Lin Kong's deep consciousness. A unique awareness merged directly into Fang Lin Kong's mind.
"Is this the mystery of the spiritual realm? Did 'he' leave me with this memory as well?" As Fang Lin Kong received this surge of consciousness, he suddenly realized something, yet it remained elusive. However, he could already feel that he had entered an indescribable spiritual level. It seemed as if some kind of physical and mental restraint had been abruptly lifted, allowing Fang Lin Kong's spiritual awareness to expand continuously. He had noticed the black-clad man Sdeck who was retreating and had also "seen" the mysterious East. This strange sensation felt like a third-person perspective in a strategy game, where he could survey the entire battlefield.
After experiencing the recent ordeal, Fang Lin Kong dared not act recklessly. He felt the violent energy within him building up and merging, transforming into Taoist true energy: Wood generating Fire, Fire generating Metal, Metal generating Water, Water generating Earth, and Earth generating Wood again. With each cycle of true energy, he sensed his power becoming purer. As the Taoist true energy completed its circulation, a flash of platinum light shone forth, and the remnants of his five elemental true energies vanished completely, replaced by the pure Holy Power of Western spirituality. When Holy Power filled his body, an unexpected surge of Magic Power emerged from somewhere—Earth, Water, Fire, Wind, Light, Darkness, and Thunder—seven types of Magic Power whirled chaotically around him, leaving Fang Lin Kong feeling disoriented.
Unbeknownst to Fang Lin Kong, with each transformation of power within him, his body was being enhanced by this elemental force. His previously battered back now appeared smooth and unblemished. His already robust physique became even more powerful; a layer of indescribable energy flowed slowly beneath his skin, filling every limb and bone with explosive strength.
The changes in energy within him seemed endless. As Fang Lin Kong gradually regained his senses, an absolute confidence surged within him. He no longer felt fear towards the two enemies outside. Oh! Roaring with newfound strength, Fang Lin Kong threw his head back and howled.
The abilities derived from Gouli Heaven's Tome were inherently peculiar. Fang Lin Kong's random transformations into other forms merely placed labels like Holy Power, true energy, and Magic Power on this energy without truly altering its essence or genuinely absorbing it. However, facing this crisis awakened a profound thought planted by his future self within him. Not only did it guide him to elevate his spiritual level to a wondrous state, but it also helped him genuinely merge the energy within him with his body.
Clenching his right hand into a fist, energy leaped and transformed continuously atop Fang Lin Kong's fist until it finally coalesced into a ball of black flame. Under the influence of his mental power, the black flame gathered on his right fist and formed a flaming curved blade identical to that of Sdeck. "Is that all there is to the Blazing Sky Slash!? It's nothing special! Now I can do it too."
Talking to himself, Fang Lin Kong swung his fist forward. The newly formed Black Flame Curved Blade shot out with a roar through the breach in the wall created by Sdeck.
